Mystic summer on the Au Sable
It was my 70th birthday party. Small 15 of us stayed at the lodge for my birthday event 10 friends came in. It was fabulous. It was hot for the first three days but they supplied fans in every room and the river was delightful. It was cool and fun to take an evening dip before bed, our children enjoyed rafting down the there River. We would drive them with the rafts and drop them off either at a half hour float or an hour and a half. Everyone had so much fun. S’mores for the kids in the evening around the fire we set up a volleyball net in the yard and the game building was fabulous. The kids really liked it. We had lots of family time with very little need for any electronics. The setting is gorgeous the lodge so very unique and also very up north all ruled into one management was a joy to work with, I can’t say enough about JP. My birthday theme was “into the mystic “. I love the song and the setting was tranquil and perfect for my birthday Gathering. We cooked all of our meals at the lodge and the kitchen was very adequate. The furnishings were fantastic.!

Wonderful Royal Stag
The Royal Stag property is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. A large well kept and private setting right on a huge bend of the Au Sable River. There is a very nice fire pit area with lots of supplied fire wood. We enjoyed camp fires most nights. Lots of seating so everyone can gather round. Also a very nice separate dinning hall and grill area right on the rivers edge. Everyone enjoyed the river, fishing, floating, or just set on the dock and enjoy the wildlife. The lodge is beautiful and so well appointed. Just review the photos in the listing and you will still be amazed when you enter. This was our second family reunion here and we really enjoyed our time at the Royal Stag.

Beautiful house and property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is very beautiful, right on the Au Sable River, and the house is excellent, especially the massive fire place that sits in the middle of the great room. We played golf all weekend at Forest Dunes, which is only a 15 minute drive from the house. I would highly recommend the property.

Beautiful!!!
I’ve visited many VRBO’s and this was one of the best! Wonderful property, beautiful and so relaxing. I can’t begin to explain how peaceful the river and views were. The cabins had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable in the main cabin. Couldn’t ask for more! We will be returning.

Great Location!
Property location, indoors and outdoors very nice! However management team needs to step it up a notch re guest attention to detail. House needs better checklist re small details.., ie lights out, bath towels that fit an adult rather than child, kitchen utensil updates etc. Other than that the property is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay! If u want a quiet relaxing unbelievably remote place … this is great!!! And TY team for providing fans in response to our surprise of no A/C. !!! We appreciated that!

Royal stag getaway
For us the Royal Stag was an absolute wonderful place to hold our yearly family reunion. The main lodge furnishings are stunning, from the massive live edge dining table to the bent wood rockers, and a lifetime of hunting, fishing, and wildlife experience’s on display. It doesn’t feel at all like a rental property rather they’ve invited you to stay in their home. During the day we enjoyed the river, swimming, tubing, wading. A group of us kayaked from Graying right to our door step. In the evening we lit a camp fire and roasted marshmallows. The kids played hide and seek while others just walked the grounds on the rivers bend. The property is large, private, and very well kept. Thank you. We had a wonderful time!

Great Lodge
8 adults on a golf trip and it fulfilled the promises of all of the pictures and communication before booking. Its an amazing property from fishing right outside the door to the fire pit along side the river to the space to play yard games....it was fantastic. Only 13 minutes to Forest Dunes Golf Club makes it a very compelling option.

Perfect stay by the Au Sable
The property is secluded, isolated, idyllic and absolutely perfect.. And we caught trout right off the property! Accommodations are ideal, there are no negatives to renting at this location. Everything in the description is accurate. Thank you Royal Stag Lodge Team.

THANKSGIVING FAMILY REUNION
Spent Thanksgiving weekend at Royal Stag, the perfect place for a family holiday. The setting in the snowy woods, the beautiful river running around the proper, the fabulous amenities in the cottage and a Hugh fireplace to complete the scene. Turkey and all the sides was a breeze using 4 ovens and 2 refrigerators plenty of sleeping for our family of 11, and the picture perfect dining table in front of fireplace for Thanksgiving dinner. Kitchen table was also amazing, seating all 11 of us for breakfast and family game nights. Many games of pool were played and never got tired of the rocking chairs and the flowing River. Only ones who had more fun than us were the dogs with lots of property to run and play with no worries of traffic. Snowed our last night, was the picture perfect winters scene. We will be back

Wonderful Weekend Getaway
The RSL is full of character and charm set just a few feet away from the beautiful Au Sable river. The 6 bedroom lodge was a great set up for our group of family and friends (ages 3 - 70) gathering for the 4th of July. We were greeted by a thoughtful welcome basket with private labeled wine and salsa (both delicious), along with a hat and a few other goodies. The property is beautifully maintained and plenty of space for people to relax, explore and fish without being on top of one another. The “holy waters of the Au Sable” can certainly be found here. Temps went into the low 90s and humid, so it was a bit toasty with no AC, but the bedrooms all have ceiling fans. It cooled off well at night and held in the cooler temperatures until about lunchtime each day. The kitchen was well stocked and very clean, beds were comfortable, and our kids were thrilled to find a big bin of toys. All communications were clear and timely. Thank you for a wonderful long weekend!

Our Stay
My family and I needed to get away for a few days from the hustle and bustle of city life. This was exactly what we were looking for. The space is cozy, comfortable, with a beautiful view of the river. A big thank you to the host for being hospitable and flexible with check in and check out times. Lindsey went out of her way to check in on us and make sure we have everything we needed. I would highly recommend it!

Great Place
Very nice rental and property -- There was 9 adult guys for a fishing trip and outside of not catching any fish (not saying we knew what we where doing) the overall rental was a great experience. The rental has a lot of amenities and the grounds and river are both great and relaxing. The only draw back was there is no air conditioning, but opening windows at night made it comfortable. the idea was too spent most of our time outside and we loved it.

We chose this property for my Dad's 60th birthday getaway and the property itself was perfect! The lodge itself was awesome and fit our needs well. The property was beautiful and the distance to the river was unbeatable.

Outstanding property - Exceeded all our expectations!
Our family of 18 spent 5 days at the RSL and the Pine Bend Cottage in July. It was an amazing experience, the property is absolutely stunning, sits right on the Au Sable River, and was perfect for our family reunion. The lodge is quite large, and accommodated our large family. We also reserved the game room which was a lot of fun. The separate dining building was great as well, so we could all sit together at meals. A HUGE thank you to Will & Kiki who found a phenomenal chef, Anna, to prepare all our dinners. Anna's food was amazing - she worked very hard to make sure we were all happy, and went above and beyond, even delivering a delicious birthday cake for a special birthday celebration one night. We created many wonderful memories sitting around the campfire at night, taking canoe rides on the river, fishing, napping on the hammocks, and just enjoying the beauty of the property. We will definitely go back!

Great stay - beyond expectations
Very nice property with excellent grounds -- the overall rental was beyond expectations. Spent most of our time on the deck over the river, which was perfect. We floated around Squirrel Bend which was great given the warm weather. With the Covid situation, we didn't leave the property beyond one float trip, which suited us just fine. Nice kitchen, dining table, and our kids really liked playing pool.
