Family weekend
We had a great weekend, the cabin was nice and had all the kitchen utensils needed to prepare meals. Just a note you have to bring your own bedding and towels. You may also request bedding and towels through the hosts for a fee. We had our grandkids with us and our sons and daughter in law, a fun weekend was had by all.

Camp Can't Keep Up
The cabin was smaller than we thought. Could have used lighting over the dining table and curtains on the windows. Other than that, we enjoyed the cabin, good location, easy access to everything.

No coffee
The cabin was nice and as described. Lots of taxidermy which is ok but they are very dusty lots of cobwebs. The biggest complaint we had was the coffee pot didn’t work and we notified our host but it was never taken care of and it’s about a 10 mile drive each way to get coffee. More lighting in the dining room area would be helpful.

Elk viewing
We have been coming to Elk County for several years to view the elk and this year we brought our best friends along with us for their first time. They were so excited to see the big bulls and listen to all the bugling!! We had such a relaxing time at the cabin as well! It was perfect! Thanks for great getaway!!

Mostly great
We had one day of over 4 hours without electricity (no fault of the property owner). Otherwise, enjoyed the visit.

About the host

Hosted by Bryan Lukehart & Jennifer Helman

Host profile image
An unlikely pair, Bryan grew up in Marion Center, Pennsylvania where he was raised on the family farm, tending to fields, and hunting and fishing when he got the chance; Jennifer grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, and when she came to Indiana County, PA to attend IUP, she fell in love with the outdoors and never left the area.

Bryan's family has a camp on Wolf Lick, and since he was a child, Bryan grew up fishing the streams in Elk Country, and hunting bear and whitetail deer in the abundant State Game and Forest Lands. Needless to say, Bryan's roots as an outdoorsman run deep, and still today, he is an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper.

Almost a decade ago, Jennifer was introduced to Elk Country by Bryan's dad, Ed, and the two have put on countless miles photographing elk and sightseeing. Despite growing up in the city, Jennifer developed a deep love for the outdoors, she is an avid trail runner and hiker, and also likes to hunt and fish.

Why they chose this property

With many fond childhood memories of Elk Country and his family's camp on Wolf Lick Run, Bryan bought the piece of land that Camp Can't Keep Up now sits on around 2005, built by hand with the help of friends and family, Camp Can’t Keep Up has sat alongside the banks of Hicks Run since its completion in 2008.

Bryan cultivated many fond memories with his family, but especially his two children at this cabin over the years, fishing for trout, hunting whitetail deer in the state game lands, elk shed (antler) hunting, biking, cooking over an open fire, and just enjoying the beauty of nature in the Pennsylvania Wilds.

What makes this property unique

Camp Can't Keep up sits alone on a generous 1.5 acre lot, that is backed by Hicks Run. a well-stocked trout stream. Situated a mile off of the main highway, Hicks Run Road is perfect for running and biking, with very little traffic. The cabin has beautiful mountain views and the porch swings are perfect for drinking your morning coffee and listening to the creek. Kids of all ages love the swings and rope swings! The outdoor cooking area is large enough to accommodate the entire family!
