Great location!
This cottage is in the best location to enjoy all that Asheville and the NC mountains offer, without getting stuck in the traffic. It is in a cute town and even within walking distance to the shops and restaurants and a pretty lake. It was a perfect size for my husband and I to relax and enjoy our time after our very active days exploring. The kitchen was plenty big enough for our needs and there was everything you needed to cook if you wanted to. The owners were easy to deal with and quick to respond. They were available if you needed them. The only thing we missed was a washer and dryer. Although the laundromat was very close and only took about 1 hour. Just keep that in mind, should that be an inconvenience.

A wonderful place to stay in Black Mountain
2 friends and I spent a 3 day weekend with wonderful accommodations. We walked in and were greeted by an open, clean and spacious living area with 2 nice sized bedrooms. We were well informed by the owners about the area and things to do and see. We enjoyed a beautiful walk to town through a wonderful neighborhood with beautiful old homes and lots of shade trees. We weren't able to take advantage of the lake but it was very close. The Leonetti's left us on our own and made it clear that we were to contact them if we needed them any time and provided us a phone number to contact them by. We really enjoyed the town of Black Mountain, especially the quilt shop, 7 sisters and Thyme and Again. We had wonderful meals at the Ale House and Red Rocker Inn and had the best salad ever at Trailhead. We look forward already to next year and our increased stay to 4 nights and 5 days!

A wonderful retreat!
My friend and I used the guest house as our "home base" as we enjoyed many of the wonders that Black Mountain and Asheville have to offer. The house is warm and comfortable, with all the comforts of home. The owners are very welcoming and are there if you need them but not if you don't. They gave us great tips for places to eat and see in Black Mountain and we enjoyed many of them. Red Rocker Inn was great, as was the Biscuit, just for starters! I'd highly recommend this guest house as it's very comfortable and close enough to walk to the lake and downtown which made it very nice for us. My only suggestion would be to put gravel in the parking spot in front of the house to make access easier for people with disabilities. Thanks so much for your kind hospitality! Monnie R Durham, NC

Perfect Black Mountain Location!
My husband and I adored the location of the Lake Tomahawk Guest House because we didn't spend hours driving here and there...Instead, we walked down to the lake again and again, enjoying the endless, ever-changing beauty of the mountains in fall--admiring the colors of the fall foliage as they changed with the weather and time of day. Watching the clouds move in to sit on the mountain and move off again felt as if we had driven on the Parkway--or even up to Mount Mitchell! We also enjoyed being close to all the awesome downtown restaurants and shopping, to Montreat where we visited friends, and less than a mile from the church where we attended a memorial service! Karen and Danny were so personable and easy to work with! PS Next time, I want to bring my six-year-old granddaughter and introduce her to Karen--because I found out on the last day Karen is a new children's book author!

Restful Retreat
We traveled to Black Mountain for the memorial service of our infant nephew. Though the reason for our trek was bleak (to put it mildly), we were very at home in this cottage. Not only is the location perfect for walking anywhere you like, the home spotless, and the amenities plentiful, but the peace and respite that radiated from the owners was like a Godsend. Despite the occasion, we had a lovely time and would recommend this place to anyone interested in a perfectly situated and tranquil stay. Many, many thanks to the Leonettis!

Great location!
Black Mountain is a wonderful town and this VRBO house was perfect for walking down to the lake, or into town. The two bedrooms worked well for us and the kitchen had everything we needed. There was a common wall with the owners, so we occasionally heard muffled voices, but it felt very private. The space was attractive, practical and a great location for vacationers going to one of my favorite places. I hope to stay there again.

Beautiful and Charming Cottage!!
My family enjoyed a week of tranquility at the Lake Tomahawk Cottage this summer. Dan and Karen turned out to be the most lovely couple and were always available to answer any questions we had about the local activities. The cottage is within walking distance to Lake Tomahawk and downtown Black Mountain. There were many mornings that we just took a peaceful stroll through the neighborhood. All the homes in the area are incredibly charming! The cottage had all the necessities to make our time there comfortable.. We also appreciated our host's eye for detail. Even the dish soap was the one we use at home (Seventh Generation)! Everything was easy to get to and we found the location to be great. Asheville was a short drive and all the main attractions are a short distance. We look forward to making another journey to Black Mountain in the cooler months and will be happy to make the Lake Tomahawk cottage our home again!

Girl's weekend away
We loved the location of the guest house in Black Mountain. Karen and Dan provided us with directions on the phone and waved us in the driveway! They were informative and the house was immaculate. It is a perfect place for a couples weekend or a girlfriends getaway. Being in my late 50's I am queen of hotflash and I must say I had two sleepless nights from lack of central air. The window units didn't seem to make much difference in cooling the rooms off. However, that being said, I would love to stay in the quest house again during the cooler seasons. I look forward to visiting Black Mountain and Karen and Dan in the fall or winter!!!

Family Gathering Place
We met our relatives here in Black Mountain for a family gathering with the cousins and Grandma. We rented this guesthouse and Grandma's Cottage close by. It was just perfect. We had a house for lots of activity, cards, cooking, conversation, etc. And a place where there was some quiet respite to nap, read, or have one on one quiet conversations. We visited the Biltmore close by and got some amazing family pictures in the field of sunflowers and went white water rafting at the French Broad River. The playground across the street was perfect for the kids to expend some energy and downtown is within walking distance allowing small groups to walk to town and not have to worry about a vehicle. The house was clean and well furnished with all the essentials and more in the kitchen.

Great time
enjoyed our stay at the guest house. Plenty of room for 4 people to hangout and all the accommodations were great. The only issue was the wifi connection for my boys but we used our cell phones instead. May suggest that for all future renters.

Great Place for a Great Weekend.
Came to the Asheville area for a friends wedding, and wanted to find a place away from town to stay. Karen and Danny's guest house was perfect for that. It was clean, well maintained, easy to get to and from, close to everything in Black Mountain, and close to the interstate. Karen and Danny were super friendly, but if I hadn't sought them out you wouldn't have known they were there. I had a wonderful time, hope to come back, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking in the area.

Weekend Getaway
My wife and I come to Black Mountain a couple of times a year. Karen and Danny made us feel right at home for a pleasant and quiet retreat. Close to Lake Tomahawk for morning and evening walks. Minutes to town for good restaurants, shopping, spas etc. The golf course is a few blocks away. Its the best.

Wedding Weekend
A few of my bridesmaids and I stayed here on my wedding weekend. Danny & Karen were amazing! They made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to make that weekend special. We even used the "VW Thing" as our transportation on our wedding day, and as our "get away car" after the wedding. Thank you Danny & Karen for making our special weekend even more special. Love you guys!

Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient.
The first time we visited Black Mountain, we stayed in a motel, and didn't even know that Lake Tomahawk existed. If visiting Black Mountain, this is the ideal location. Although not on the lake, you are close enough to hear the Canadian Geese come in for a landing. Easy walk of a few blocks to the village, where there are plenty of places to eat and enjoy a micro brew. The cottage is also within walking distance of the Saturday farmers market. We enjoyed hiking the Montreat trail system a short drive away, and we drove down to Old Fort one day for a very nice hike up to the waterfall. Karen and Dan are a great resource for what to see and do. Just ask them!

Lake Tomahawk Cottage: a dreamy spot in what I'd call HIPSTER MAYBERRY 😃
I was looking for a getaway spot that would take me away Calgon style; Thank goodness I found this listing. The cottage is adorable and I could just see how lovingly maintained it had been kept. Mr. and Mrs. Clean definitely cut no corners in the cleanliness and maintenance. There was not one thing I needed that was not provided. Located just across the street, The walk to the lake is so picturesque that it just seems like a perfect photo opp. The drive to Asheville is only 15 minutes. Shopping, food, culture and fun; This was my recipe for a perfect escape! The onsite owners, Karen & Danny made me feel more like a part of their family and not just a vacation renter. They are happy, eager to chat and are the warmest hearted folks that you could ever know. Super cool people. I am obsessed with cupcakes, candy, retro stuff and food and They immediately gave me great, affordable and close locations for all of my fancies right in Black Mountain. I even went in a local pet shop and met the owner. Not only do we have the same birthday but we also graduated from the same high school in Atlata! Definitely so glad to have met them and this cool house/town. I like these people and this town so much after having visited for 2+ years that I'm so ready to pack my babies in the car, get my husband a sippy cup of Rum & Diet Coke and take the midnight drive to Black Mountain, NC so we can be a part of Hipster Mayberry!

sweet, çon Eni end place to stay
We were there for just over weeks and loved being right in Black Mountain. The Tomahawk house was a sweet space, very close to the lake and to the croquet court as well as within easy walking distance to downtown. We found the place very clean and pleasant to call home. There were a few small things that needed to be repaired and Karen and Dan wasted no time taking care of them. The kitchen is very well supplied with whatever you might need and the place is lovingly decorated. Karen and Dan are very nice and easy to deal with. The only negative for us, being from bright, sunny Florida, was that the house was not as light as we would have preferred. The outside space has a new and very comfortable table and chairs under a wonderful old tree.

Absolutely perfect
I can't even begin to say how thankful that we are for finding this rental home. Not only was it's location perfect, but it was SO welcoming! And there aren't enough words to describe the owners' hospitality. My best friend was getting married, so not only did we book this home for the bridal party, but the owner drove us around in his VW and took the Bride & Groom from the wedding, and it was a blast! Great people, fun to work with, and just an incredible experience all together. I would highly recommend this gorgeous home for a getaway! :)

An amazing place for an amazing weekend
We rented the Guesthouse as a base of operations for a fabulous wedding weekend. The bride stayed with us leading up to wedding day. The cottage was clean, well kept, comfortable, and quaint. We had everything we needed for late nights finishing wedding details, and a place to rest and recoup after the wedding was over. We loved that it was easy to find, is in a quiet neighborhood, close to downtown Black Mountain, and the wedding venue. We could easily get to I-40 for trips into Asheville when we needed. Danny and Karen are the perfect hosts. The bride even enlisted the VW Thing to take us to the venue on wedding day, and then as the getaway car for the happy couple at the end of the night. Danny was a great chauffeur, cranking the rock -n-roll and decorating the car to make for a fun and upbeat wedding day. Danny & Karen's enthusiasm and happy nature gave off great energy and they got into the wedding spirit with us. I hope to have reason to visit Black Mountain again soon, and will definitely stay at this amazing property.

Comfortable and Convenient
Our stay at Karen and Danny's Lake Tomahawk Guest House was just what we needed! Five minutes by car to the Montreat Conference Center activities, two minutes to the laid-back pace of Black Mountain and twenty minutes to downtown Asheville. The galley kitchen had all the essential equipment, although who wants to cook with the great selection of places in Black Mountain? Other amenities include two comfortable queen size beds, a full bathroom, TV and wifi. I highly recommend scheduling this guest house when you are in the area!
