Honolii Black Sand Beach Just a Short Walk Down the Road - Hilo, Big Island, HI - Hawaii Vacation Home We are located on the lush, tropical side of the big island, just two miles north of the historic whaling town of Hilo. Our home is in a small, secluded, upscale neighborhood in the country and borders the old coastal road that winds past streams, waterfalls, and vine-covered bridges. Honolii Beach, east Hawaii's hottest surf spot, is just a short walk down our one-lane road. It is one of the few black sand beaches on the island and features lifeguards and bathrooms. Honolii has consistent waves year-round for surfers and boogie boarders. The freshwater river that empties into the bay has a huge swimming hole and two beautiful waterfalls just upstream. Bike riding, boogie-boarding, kicking back, surfing, swimming, or hiking are activities you can do from your rental without driving anywhere. Our location also makes it simple to visit the many scenic areas around the island. And remember, one of the friendliest beaches on this side of the island is just a short stroll down the road.
