Our house is a 3000 square feet (270sqm) apartment, on the 2nd and 3rd floors (and last ones) of an 18th century beautiful building in the centre of Florence. The whole building has been owned by our anchestors since it was first built, when Florence became the Capital of Italy and it is still owned by the (enlarged) family).
It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (one with jacuzzi, all with shower). A wuge wardrobe serves as 5th bedroom in case of need. We can also offer, in eventual addition to the apartment, a very large study with its own independent bathroom, kitchen and terrace that is on the same floor and can be rented together with the apartment (too see it, see VRBO listing n. 113530 but if you want to rent it TOGETHER with our place you just need to enquire HERE). Other rooms in the house include a gourmet kitchen, washing and ironing room, living room, dining room serving up to 14 people etc etc (15 rooms I all or more I don't remember) to end with a little romantic terrace on the roof with a view fantastic over of the heart of Florence. This home is very fresh even in summer (just in case, there is air conditioning, too). It is full of light, all painted in light yellow or pale antique-pink. Some of the ceilings are decorated with XVIII century frescos. there is an antique library with books focusing on social sciences, law, economics and history.
Furnished mostly with antiques but with a nice mix of modern, too, this home reflects the different countries we haved lived in. Stovels are equally beautiful and very particular (for instance we bought our porcelain dishes directly in Portugal! ) . There is a nice little terrace on the roof facing over the Synagogue (fantastic when illuminated for the interior! ) and with a peaceful and fantastic view over Palazzo Vecchio and the center of Florence.
We have cable TV, VHR, DVD, ADSL WIFI, a PC for you to use and plenty of English movies, and an incredibly equipped (and modern!) kitchen! Frankly speacking, our place is really beautiful and not common, even to Italian standards. It is VERY clean and we want it to be kept that way (we can arrange house cleaning to help you out with that). Cooking and cooking lessons can be arranged as well if so desired.
The house is in the most beautiful residential area in the very historical centre of Florence, known as Piazza D'Azeglio. It is a three minutes walk from Santa Croce Cathedral, the Duome or Ponte Vecchio! It is a very Florentine part of the town; that is to say, where "real Florentines" (a rarity in fact! ) still live.
The day market of Sant'Ambrogio where you can find any sort of delicious food is a few hundred metres away. It you do not feel like cooking, this is an area with plenty of charming restaurants of all sorts. The world-renown Gelateria Vivoli (ice cream shop) is only e few block away - that in Florence means 2 minute walking!
Shops of all sorts are only a minute away and on the last week-end of each month the famous Flea Market is 200 metres away. Yet, the area is very quiet (half of the flat is facing on the private garden). And if you want to climb on the hill of Piazzale Michelangelo is a 20 minutes walk to get on the top.
The Ugolino golf club with its beautiful swimming pool and tennis is only 15 km (8 miles) away. |
