We walked into Paris apartment and were bowled over by the view from the large windows in the living room and dining area! What more romantic and memorable way to visit Paris than with a view of La Grande Dame de Paris, the Eiffel Tower.
Our Paris apartment has two bedrooms,two-and-one-half baths and sleeps up to six. It is decorated in a mixture of antiques and contemporary and is very comfortable. It is 750 square feet, located on the sixth floor (with elevator), and faces west, which means it is above the treetops, very light and sunny. The view of the Eiffel Tower is directly ahead from the living room windows, but this Paris apartment is located on a beautiful cobbled courtyard. Romanée offers a warm and romantic stay in Paris.
Enter our Paris apartment to a short, wide corridor that leads to the large open plan living room. A built-in desk and closets of pale sycamore are on your right as you enter, good for storage and work space.
A contemporary sofa is in the middle of the room, with view of the Eiffel Tower from the large windows seen on the left. Touches of hot pink add color accents. The herringbone parquet floors are original and restored to their original beauty, as is the marble fireplace which faces the sofa. The room is beautiful. Best of all, you know you have arrived in Paris as you gaze out the windows to a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. It is wonderful to stay here; enjoying each other's company in the luxury of a beautiful apartment, or simply enjoying a good book and nap on the sofa.
There is plenty of comfortable seating, as two armchairs flank the fireplace and a second sofa is located on the right hand wall. The cream colored divan has a straight on view of the Eiffel Tower. We located the manufacturer of this amazing sofa in Italy. Divan during the day and - voila! - it pulls down to a fully made-up double-size bed at night; excellent engineering and an extremely comfortable night's sleep.
The view from this bed is unforgettable and guests will have a difficult time deciding who gets to sleep there. From the bed, you see the Eiffel Tower in front of you in all its glory, including the magic light show which comes on every hour after dark for ten minutes until midnight. Do not worry about getting to sleep as all of our windows have blackout blinds and curtains, but most of our guests prefer to leave them open so they can enjoy this unforgettable view.
Next to the fireplace is an antique commode with TV, DVD player, and sound system. The DVD and CD player are compatible with American movies, so you can bring some of your favorites with you. The satellite connection means you can watch CNN, CNBC, Sky News, and sample all of the French channels as well. We have installed wireless ADSL for your computer; it is free for our guests. There is a security safe for your personal valuables as well.
The sunny living room is open plan to the dining area and kitchen. Eating at the table is undoubtedly one of the most romantic in Paris; it sits in front of the second large window with full view of the Eiffel Tower. While we love eating in our nearby bistros, cafe's and restaurants in Paris (our neighborhood is full of good ones that the locals go to and we provide you with five full pages of recommendations), it is a thrill to eat breakfast or even a gourmet feast in front of this view.
We know a young English house painter who has an amazing talent for graphic design. We sent him to Paris and asked him to use his ideas to paint a mural on the wall behind the dining table. He wandered around the neighborhood for hours and designed a beautiful mural on the back wall, representing buildings in the neighborhood. The mural covers six closets, where you can unpack and feel at home.
The kitchen is equipped with every appliance and accessory you might need to whip up a gourmet meal; large refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, coffee pot, espresso maker, toaster, microwave with convection oven, and a separate convection oven. Many of our guests take cooking courses in Paris and love the convenience of having two ovens at their disposal.
Follow the corridor to the back of the apartment: the first bathroom is on your left and tiled in beautiful marble. There is a bathtub with shower; a lion's head is the spout, creating a touch of drama and fun. An old marble sink from Italy sits on the limestone worktop and an 80-gallon hot water is the largest available in France, meaning plenty of hot water.
The guest bedroom is next on your right with dormer window that looks out over the rooftops. There is a high quality double-size bed to provide a good night's sleep. The location at the back of the building means it is very quiet, even without the double glazing we have put in the windows.
The first toilet is on your right, tiled in beige mosaic marble.
The second bathroom follows with second toilet, shower, and sink. It is tiled in white with a Provencal floral pattern running along the top.
The master bedroom is at the end of the hallway and has a large window overlooking the back courtyard. It is very quiet even without the double glazed windows we have put in. There are beautiful silk taffeta curtains in beiges and a dual king-size bed. The bed can be made up as a king-sized bed (the beds are cast iron and do not move apart) or as two twins. There are closets on the far wall for good storage along with TV and cable to receive English channels.
We leave lots of Paris guidebooks and other information on the neighborhood for you to peruse during your stay.
This is a non-smoking apartment and, sorry, but no pets are allowed.
We think you will love staying in our Paris apartment! |
