3 Nights at Lavender Cottage

We had three very comfortable nights in Lavender Cottage. A lot of thought had gone into detail so everything we needed was there. The car park is up a steep hill but so close it wasn't inconvenient. The position is great. Close to the sea front. Fish and chips shop just a few doors away, a pub just across the road but it was very quiet in the cottage.

Great location

Lovely cottage with everything you need. Decorated to high standard in keeping with seaside and cottage feel. Everything was clean. We had a problem with wifi on arrival but the owner attended to it very promptly, and he was very helpful. My husband had to work so wifi was essential. All was sorted excellently. Much appreciated. Location perfect, especially for my elderly sister in law who has disabilities. She didn't have to drive or park the car, so no steep hills for her to climb. But the parking is up a very steep hill and the roads are narrow, pretty little seaside streets. Just work around that and be patient with other drivers. The location is worth it. beautiful surroundings. Friendly Pub slightly oppositte, fish and chip shop 2 doors down...easy access to sea front. Loved it. The only improvements I would suggest is better quality towels, or suggest people bring their own. Towels were ok, but old, not luxurious or soft. The beds were too soft both in double and two singles. sinking in. Not my choice, the others also mentioned it. I didn't sleep well. Mattress needs to be firmer. Too much daylight coming in, in double bedroom, also causing restless sleep, not sure what the solution is, with the old windows. Perhaps a curtain rail further away just to close at night. The garden needs maintenance, it wasn't well kept so not very inviting. The garden could add great value if its designed a bit better, with perhaps a pergola area and cutting back, make a feature/room out of it. Perhaps a little bench outside back door for disabled or elderly to sit on. Overall I would come back, but mattress needs to be firmer! Had a lovely time in Lavender cottage.

Lovely fortnight in Lyme Regis

This property is in an excellent location, close to the beach and excellent fish and chip shop and the town's microbrewery. The house was well equipt and comfortable. It was surprisingly quite for being in the centre of town. My only quibble was that it was described as having parking, but the parking was extra and not on the property. We ended up parking about 10 minutes walk from the house.

Lovely property

Had a few communication problems, delays in replying and incorrect telephone number. Despite that, the property is lovely & ideally placed for town centre and beach. Stairs and parking/unloading of car may prove an issue for some people, just to be aware. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Week away with grandchildren

Charming little 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage. Well laid out with a good kitchen and a decent sized dinner/sitting room, and surprisingly spacious with a small garden and ideal for two grandparents and two grandchildren of 4 and 7 years old. Stairs fine for all but the infirm. Spotlessly clean. Great location in Coombe Street in the heart of Lyme Regis. Altogether a delightful stay. Originally booked 3 nights and extended to a 6. Pleasant, helpful owner - anxious for his guests to be happy. Coombe Street is a tight little road so pull in where you can and pause just to dump your luggage and then utilize the permit for the car park close by up the hill. Almost without exception everyone working in the shops, pubs, bars and restaurants in a crowded Lyme were so kind to the kids despite being tired I am sure so late in the season. We know Lyme Regis well and have visited for decades and people were more friendly and helpful than we have ever known.

Great location.

Pluses: Great location minutes from the beach Well equipped roomy house in quiet street Comfy beds Car parking ok Not so plus: Somewhat dodgy staircases could be problematical for unsteady visitors No hot water for three days. We should have been more vocal earlier, but owner has had problems with the boiler before and could have got a plumber in despite our very English ‘oh, it’s all right really’.

Nice centrally located property on a quiet street.

Excellent location and well appointed cottage with unfussy decor. Good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We stayed as a couple but would come again with our children.

Home from home close to the beach

We loved staying here in the autumn half term. The house is lovely with enough space for us all, good living rooms and bedrooms. It is a great location situated a few doors down from the dinosaur museum and within sight of a pub and an Italian restaurant, just five minutes walk from the beach. There was a problem with the drains while we were there but Mark got someone round while we were hunting fossils on the beach and it was all resolved. We are planning to come back here again.

Great find in the centre of Lyme

This cottage is a great base for exploring Dorset and Devon. Being in the centre of Lyme it was perfect for early morning and night dog walks on the beach. Also great for going to the brewery in an afternoon. The kitchen was very well equipped and was the one of the best we have found so far. The garden is fully enclosed which was ideal for our mini schnauzer who loves spending time outside in the garden. Only thing for people to note is that there is no car parking by the cottage but its only a 2 min walk to the public car park. We would recommend this cottage for people wanting to explore the area and be close to the sea.

Lavender Cottage

Comfy cottage situated in the heart of Lyme Regis. It has everything you need including two spacious bathrooms, one with a lovely walk-in shower. We had a really relaxing stay and would definitely visit again. The only downside is the lack of a parking space to the property but that is par for the course in Lyme Regis and there is a car park nearby.

Lovely cottage in the heart of Lyme Regis

I have fallen in love with Lyme Regis. The stay was too short. I liked having our own base and will definitely book this cottage again. The place sleeps 4 but there was only 2 of us but it was great to have that much space to ourselves so I would definitely recommend this over a hotel. There was a good size kitchen but we didn't cook but if we stayed longer we would have definitely cooked. It was super comfortable and close to everything. Thank you Mark.

Cosy and central

We arrived late Friday night. We knew the property was on a narrow lane so parked up first at the recommended car park. The car park is up a steep hill and we needed to return with the parking permit. You will need to be fairly fit for this. On opening the front door we were greeted to a warm welcoming room. Split over three levels both the deco and furnishings were very in keeping with the character of the cottage. The kitchen had everything we needed and the two bathrooms were ideal with two teenage boys in tow. We would prefer towels to be included in the total price and not as an added extra. We would return to this property.

Perfect little cottage

We didn't actually manage to stay for various reasons but did drop in to check on the property and it was a shame that we couldn't as it looked lovely. Well appointed, clean, cosy, great position and a charming garden. Would stay again if we were in the area. Thanks

Cosy Cottage near centre of town

Lovely small Cottage, for 4 people, with 2 bathrooms. Excellent position for exploring Lyme Regis and surrounding areas. Minor criticisms are that Shower door had broken runner and net curtains were precariously held up. Not suitable for people with mobility problems. We had a great time. Thank you.

Very disappointed

Lavender Cottage is in a fantastic location and has potential to be a lovely holiday home. It was clean, has everything you need but is a bit shabby and in need of modernisation. The newly refurbished kitchen is lovely but both bathrooms need attention and the sitting room is an assortment of mismatched furniture and not very comfortable. The shower cubicle was grotty, one of the doors was hanging off and the shower was running water all the time. It could not be switched off and was not pleasant to shower in. When we arrived we could not stop to unload the car where advised, since the area had been chained off and padlocked. The access code we were given was incorrect so we could not get into the cottage. The towels we paid extra for were not there - all minor points maybe, but add up to a disappointing first impression. Add to that the British weather which was not kind, resulted in us giving up and leaving after 2 nights!

Lovely cottage close to beach

Lovely cottage - cosy, clean and well equipped. Great to have back garden and two bathrooms. Best thing is the location - close to the beach, the mill (excellent cafe) and fossil/dinosaur museum.

Warm cosy functional cottage - Good location

The cottage was ideal for a short stay in Lyme Regis. The essential equipment was available, but things were a bit shabby eg chipped plates, saucepan handle loose, frying pan non stick surface damaged, sofa had seen better days. The bathroom equipment was clean, but the overall feeling of the downstairs was rather dusty. Would be good to get rid of the old tourist literature and remove the wobbly side table to make more room. We appreciate you offer a warm comfortable home from home suitable for children and animals, but the little touches do make a difference between having a good time and a keen desire to return. My comments are intended to help. Janie and I both had a lovely few days. Best wishes Lynda
