About this property

Luxury Provence Villa - short walk to village, all A/C, pool, fibre internet

A luxury villa in a gorgeous setting

You will always feel welcome and cared for in this “maison de famille” that combines traditional charm with modern comfort and the added convenience of being close to a vibrant village, yet right by the beautiful and protected Alpilles natural park.

This charming Provençal farmhouse has style and is a welcoming family home. It has been furnished with comfort in mind and decorated in the simple but attractive country style to complement the natural charm of its ancient local flagstones floors and 18th Century wooden ceilings.

It also provides air conditioning in all rooms, fibre internet with a very good wifi throughout, a very well equipped kitchen and everything you might want during your stay in Provence.

Beautiful views, peace and sunshine. The pool is inviting after soaking up the rays whilst the plane tree and the pergola give you a welcome shade for a good summer read. Around the pool there are plenty of sun loungers and hammocks to perfect your tan or have a snooze. From the covered terrace you can enjoy al fresco meals cooked on the barbecue.

It is located right on the edge of the Natural Park of the Alpilles, a short and safe walk (no busy roads) from the village of Eygalières where you can find great restaurants and all the shops you might need (baker, butcher, deli, grocer, newsagent and more).

Prior to your stay, we will provide you all the useful local information with our recommandations for shopping, restaurants, activities, chef at home and more.

Our house manager will welcome you and be on call if you encounter any issue at the house.

Absolutely wonderful!!

We were 7 in total. Two families with kids. An absolutely wonderful home. Fully equipped with everything you might need to make amazing dinners at home. A beautiful pool, movie room. Lovely decor and perfect/thoughtful layout. Lots of place for everyone to spread out. A 1 km walk into Eygalieres…which we concluded is the absolute best town to be near. A real town. A beautiful town. With great amenities (butcher, baker, cheese shop, grocer) and restaurants. The perfect spot. Our host was extremely responsive and Anastasia (who checked us in and was our local contact) was fabulous. We readily recommend this place!!!!

Fabulous week

We had a wonderful week at this gorgeous Villa. We have stayed in Eygalières before so know the local area but Anne was hugely helpful in organising things before we arrived and making us aware what was happening during the week. The property is gorgeous and as described. Couldn’t fault it.

Fabulous property and location

Enjoyed a wonderful fortnight at this property in July 2024. Having rented plenty of luxury villas throughout Europe, we have high expectations and this house met them all. Comfortable beds, effective cooling system, well equipped kitchen, beautiful pool and secure property gates. I’m sure we will return.

Wonderful stay!

We loved the house, its grounds and its furnishings. There was so much thought put into making a visitor feel welcome, with just the right amount of whimsy and helpful items throughout the house and property particularly in the kitchen. We felt no detail was too small to have been addressed and that everything contributed to encourage relaxation and a feeling of being on a fabulous French country estate. We enjoyed spending leisurely afternoons around the pool and at the same time had easy access to the town and surrounding area. Our host was quick to respond to our questions and to have the pool cover fixed - which was the only problem we encountered and it was minor and fixed immediately. My group of friends has stayed in a number of places in the area and everyone declared this far and away our favorite. Thank you to our host!

Lovely house in Eygalieres

Charming house, 20 minute walk to the village. The kitchen is very well stocked and the WiFi, Sonos, Sat TV, and streaming technology all worked well. Very private and peaceful. All communication was clear, prompt, and efficient.

Lovely home but an unpleasant ending

Great location, nicely decorated, lovely pool and landscape. Should have been wonderful, but home has deferred maintenance issues and is not user friendly. On checking out we were blamed for issues/damage that already existed, and owner was insulting. Can't recommend.

Perfect Provence

A perfect place for a family gathering - beautiful pool- different areas of the garden for shaded lunch or aperitifs - big convivial ( and very well equipped) kitchen. We loved the books & soft furnishings & the stylishly homely feel. Great to see that Eygalieres is both preserving its character & thriving. The selection of shops & restaurants now mean you don’t have to venture beyond the village all week ( Friday market a must) .. although St Remy & les Baux both great day trips even in the heat. Altogether just the holiday we hoped for. Congratulations to the owners on creating a lovely place, and thank you.

Our amazing week in Provence

Seven friends, we had an amazing week in your beautiful home. We walked to the village to explore, have coffee and buy our daily baguettes, visited daily markets and wandered the streets of nearby villages. We ate out at restaurants in the village and further afield, but best of all we cooked on the barbecue and in the oven, lazed around the pool and drank the local whites and rose. The facilities were spot on, the garden beautiful and the rooms comfortable. We decided we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place for our week in Provence. Thank you Anne and Family. We hope to be back.

What a Special Spot!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at Mas de la Plume. Over the years, we have rented some beautiful houses in Europe -- including one previously in Provence -- and this is by far the one we enjoyed most. It is a lovely home that is full of charm and surrounded by an oasis of beautiful plants and flowers, olive trees, mountain views, and serenading birds. There are so many options for places to sit and relax that it was sometimes difficult to choose! We especially loved the fully stocked kitchen (up to date appliances and most cooking gadgets you can think of -- even a mortar and pestle which I am fond of using). We used it regularly to whip up dishes using the fabulous local produce from the markets. A few other of the many high points of our stay: --Although the house is designed to look like it has been in Eygalieres forever (and indeed that is part of its charm), each room has every modern comfort and convenience (including the shower heads and perfect water pressure in the bathrooms!). --The situation of the house outside of town and its layout creates an atmosphere of absolute peace and quiet. It allowed my husband to work without interruption on the book he is currently writing. --The property managers Matt and Marcus were incredibly responsive and helpful. --The small town of Eygalieres was a delight with its Friday market, several good restaurants, as well as an excellent fromagerie, boucherie, and grocery store (we look forward to the re-opening of the boulangerie, which was under construction during our stay). Like others who before us have reviewed Mas de la Plume, we are reluctant to gush too much more, as we don't want to lose our spot for next year!

Really terrific house

. We have rented probably more than a dozen houses over the years in both France and Italy (and one on the water in Turkey), and this one was the best designed, executed and maintained house we have ever stayed in. Part of it is that we are real fans of a modern house that is built as an old house, with beauty plus wonderful air conditioning and updated electrical systems. But part of it is simply that the owner thought of many factors, like where the sun would hit the house at different times of the day, where to put the pool, the clothes line, the shaded terraces. Our family stayed for a week, and wished it was longer. Kitchen was incredibly well stocked. Pool was really large and can be heated (which worked well for us). In any event, the only hesitation I have in leaving this review is I do not want this house to get too popular and never be available again!

Fabulous home! Impeccably designed and decorated!

The owners of this remarkable home have created a truly wonderful oasis in Provence! The house managers, Matt & Ana, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The home is located in a very private area, yet is reasonably close to the charming town of Eygalieres. This town is a real gem. Many great restaurants for a town it's size, a fabulous butcher, a upscale cheese shop and a small food market that made trips to the larger grocery stores unnecessary! Life is divine at Mas de la Plume!!! A piece of heaven in Provence!

Superbly Designed & Decorated!

This beautiful villa exceeded our expectations! Having rented in the nearby Luberon several years ago (a fabulous home and vacation), we wondered if we were doing the right thing in trying a different villa and region. Our concerns were quickly put to rest, the moment we arrived at this incredible home. Welcomed by Matt & Ana, the housekeepers, concierges and on-site property managers, we knew this was a special place. The owners have done an extraordinary job in creating a sanctuary in the Alpilles. Rarely does one find a home with this degree of attention to detail. The architectural design not only is comfortable with an easy flow, but also contains little interesting elements that seemingly attract the eye at every turn. The villa is also superbly decorated, obviously by a true professional, and yet is comfortable, warm and homey. So, this is a tremendous villa, but what about the area and nearby village? Well, all I can say is that Eygalieres, located just minutes from the villa, is the finest, nicest village we have encountered in our several trips to Provence. Small in size, Eygalieres still features many fine restaurants and cafes, a top-notch butcher, a fine cheese shop, and a small grocery with such a wide assortment of items that visiting the larger super markets is truly unnecessary. This villa has it all, and definitely exceeded our expectations!

Everything has been thought of

We absolutely adored your beautiful house. We have stayed in the area several times and are very much taken in by the region, the beauty of the villages, the charm of the locals, the drama of Les Alpilles, the intense flavours of the locally grown food, etc. Mas de la Plume added yet more to our experience this year. Your attention to detail is unsurpassed. Having been heavily involved in property in the past, I was awed to discover from Ana that it is merely 15 years old. I truly believed that one couldn't create, in a new build, the character, atmosphere and charm that you have in Mas de la Plume and I thought modern architecture disregarded the importance of deep walls and the luxury of "wasted" spaces. I am delighted to be proven wrong. It sounds patronising to congratulate you on creating such a magical home when I gather, not surprisingly, that you do it for a living, but it truly is a lovely house and I feel gratitude should always be expressed. Thank you for letting us stay there. Matt and Ana are utterly charming and helpful and had such happy, friendly, willing and enthusiastic attitudes, every bit as lovely as your house.

Outstanding villa in a great location

We had a wonderful stay in this villa which can genuinely be described as luxury. The property is spacious and extremely well equipped with very high quality materials and decoration throughout - clearly a great deal of thought and attention to detail went into every aspect. The salt water pool is lovely, and has a stepped entrance which meant that even my four year old daughter could potter about happily. There are plenty of sun loungers and shaded areas if you want to avoid the heat of the midday sun. There is a high quality multi-room sound system (with Sonos integration) which extends to the covered terrace which worked extremely well - in my experience this is something that is unusual to find in a holiday villa where you are usually lucky if there is a single bluetooth speaker! Wifi worked well (no problems streaming audio at all). The location is very good - the property is located in a very nice village that has a range of restaurants and shops (far more than you would reasonably expect given the size of the village!). You can walk to the centre of the village in around 15 minutes at a reasonably slow pace. In the surrounding area, you can easily drive to the larger town of St Remy in about 10 minutes, or visit well known tourist sites such as Avignon or Les Baux in well under an hour. Overall, I would not hesitate in recommending this property which I think offers very high quality accommodation and is very good value for money. I would certainly look no further should I be returning to this part of Provence with my family.

Fabulous mas near Eygalieres

This was our second visit to Mas de la Plume and it did not disappoint. The Mas is in a great location, has a great pool and great accommodation all round. It is a perfect setting for a truly relaxing family holiday. Our friends who joined us for a long weekend last year though so too as they booked it for themselves this year. We have stayed in numerous holiday villas in France and elsewhere and this is definitely the best by a country mile.

A slice of heaven: the perfect Provencal villa

We loved this villa so here are our Top 10 reasons to stay at Mas de la Plume: 1. It feels like a home, not a rental villa. The owners have thought of everything; 2. Location: Eygalieres has everything you need within walking distance: Boulangerie; Epicerie; weekly market; 4 amazing restaurants; cafes; cheese shop; butcher; Boules pitch; local fete; historical remains; beauty salon; 3. The villa is beautifully decorated; maintained; and cleaned. It is also air conditioned; 4. MDLP has every piece of kitchen equipment you will ever need (unlike most rental villas); 5. Good local amenities: supermarkets (even delivery options which we will try next year); vineyards; gym; interesting local towns (particularly Saint Remy); TGV station; airport; 6. Fitness: An amazing personal trainer (Herve Delcorso) came to us 3 times per week and ensured we could eat as much of the local cheese; wine and food as we wanted without piling on the pounds; 7. Chefs at home: Yvan Cadiou delivered home cooked food to us a couple of nights and prepared & served a full meal for us one night. Whilst it is not cheap, it was all was absolutely beautiful local food. The housekeeper will also prepare Moroccan tagines (which we will be trying next year); 8. 75 minutes from a beach (Sainte Marie de la Mer): Go to Calypso Beach as far along the main drag as you can go - very relaxed and gorgeous fresh fish; 9. A few randoms to sum up: huge kitchen; Aga; hammock; multiple lounging/ eating spaces; lots of bathrooms; Sky TV; wifi; ice machine; shopping bags for when you do your supermarket shop; wicker trolley for the market (always wanted to use one); recycling made super-easy (you can tell owners are English); Sonos music system (never used it but nice to have)...and the list goes on. 10. In short, it is a slice of heaven. We have stayed in lots of Provencal villas over the years and this beats them all hands down. We booked to go back next year within a day of arriving and we are counting down the days already to Summer 2017.

Amazing ! Amazing !!

Words really can't describe this place it really is heaven on earth. Every last detail is very well thought out, we are real foodies so the kitchen was more than well equipped. The rooms, bathrooms etc all beautfully decorated. The pool was the highlight the kids loved it and the background of the mountains was stunning. Only regret is that we didn't stay longer, but we will definitely back here next year. Anne was so helpful. We have stayed in many 5 star places but this is most definitely our favourite.

A beautifully designed and kept Provence house

We absolutely loved Mas de la Plume. We stayed three weeks with up to nine people in the house (grown-up children with their wives, boyfriends and some friends of ours) comfortably. The house was designed, built and furnished by the current owner, an architect and interior designer. The quality of the design, as well as the quality of the fittings and furnishing, made the house very easy to live in. It was well equipped, beyond what might have been expected for a rental property. Keen cooks will find every implement they need. It is clearly a much loved family home for some parts of the year. It feels warm, welcoming and lived in. Mas de la Plume was exactly as described in the listing. It was clean and exceptionally well maintained. The owner was professional and attentive in all her dealings with us, as were all the people on the ground looking after the house. The location is excellent. Near enough to the village of Eygalieres to walk or cycle in for daily bread, coffee & croissant, groceries etc but well away from busy roads and secluded enough to be quiet. There are other houses nearby but the house sits in its own large, mature garden. It is not overlooked and feels completely private. We picked the location so we could go to Euro 2016 football matches in Marseilles and Lyon. It's about an hour by car from Marseilles; about three hours from Lyon. From the house you can walk straight into the hills in c.10 minutes. There are virtually unlimited walks, road cycle or mountain bike rides in the area. if you want an active holiday in the sunshine, it would be hard to beat the location. Equally, if you want to laze by the pool, eat in nice restaurants, visit nearby attractions e.g. Pont du Gard or sample the delicious local Rosé at one of the many local 'Domaines', then this could also be for you. Eygalieres is a lovely little village. Big enough to have a grocery store, butchers, bakers and cheese shop (all selling excellent, locally sourced produce) but not too big to be impersonal. There are two or three quite good restaurants. Not fancy but a good standard at reasonable prices. On market day the village is filled with stalls offering stunning local fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese and other delectables. The smell of rotisserie chickens roasting on a spit certainly whets the appetite. We have stayed in quite a few large rented properties over the years. This was up there with the best for us.

More than Fantastic Vacation in Provence

As soon as you arrive you feel that you have your perfect private destination. This is a beautifully restored farmhouse by a designer with impeccable taste. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for eating at home. The house is well located for short trips to many attractions and villages. The grounds include an olive grove, lovely pool and several covered seating areas. Eygalieres is a charming village with an historic area worth visiting above the town. It has many amenities but is not touristy. We would definitely rent this property again and have recommended it to friends.

Stunning Mas in Les Alpilles

A beautiful house inside and out, in a pitch-perfect setting. It's within easy walking distance of Eygaliere, a charming village with its own market, local food shops and various excellent restaurants. The property has been a family home and this makes the house extra special. As you'd expect, it's lovingly maintained and extremely clean. It has all those little touches including plenty of good books DVD's and a selection of games. Outside, there's a pretty garden surrounding a really good sized pool which is deliciously free of chemicals. Our group consisted of family only and some tired people in need of a break. We know the area well from previous visits so we had an indulgently lazy time enjoying the house and the village. But there's much to see and all this is supplied by the owner in a fact sheet with a host of useful information. We could not recommend this house more highly - in fact we've already booked for next year. It's fabulous. Lastly, our favourite restaurant was undoubtedly Sous Les Micocouliers. great cooking, charming staff and a pretty shaded garden setting. And don't miss the cheese shop.

Understated luxury

Even though it is a rental property from time to time, the Mas retains the warmth and personal touches of a happy family home (albeit a remarkably luxurious one), and therein lies its charm. We were two families, with another family visiting for a short period, and it was the perfect house for us: spacious, with everything one could want for a happy holiday. The view from the garden across the pool is stunning, and the terrace (which has been carefully planned to maximise shade throughout the day) meant the children could spend all day in the pool while the adults relaxed in the shade. It was that rarest of things: a rental property which is even better than its (already very impressive) website description. We had a few small teething problems at the start of the week, but they were very quickly and elegantly taken care of by Anne and by the property manager, Severine, and in no way diminished the pleasure of our holiday. The service we received, and the communication we had, was exceptional: Anne really cared about making sure we enjoyed our stay. The local village has a number of small bistros and one truly exceptional ice-cream cafe (which was heavily tested). We really enjoyed the local fete which took place at the end of our first week, including bull running through the streets, but the Mas was so pleasant that we didn't feel the need to venture far from it on day trips. It was a truly wonderful holiday, and we can't wait to return next year.

About the host

Host profile image
We are an English/French family with three children who have spent their childhood at the Mas de la Plume. We absolutely adore Provence and Eygalieres in particular. There is so much to do and discover in the area that we always experience something new, yet it is always so good to come back home to the farmhouse. We spend half the year at the Mas (Provençal for "farmhouse") and we always have such a fabulous time whatever the season. Now, the children have long left the nest and created they own family, we have decided to share our pleasure with our guests.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Eygalieres and the Alpilles a long time ago and I was used to hike in the Alpilles with my family. Mas de la Plume is our "maison de famille" and very special to us because it is in a quiet location in the country with beautiful views but not isolated since it is only a short walk away from the village to enjoy all what it has to offer (shops, bars, restaurants, weekly market).

What makes this property unique

We love the farmhouse and believe that our care shows in all the details that create its true charm. It was conceived first and above all as a family home and we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do as it is a very special place to relax and have a true provencal experience. Our family and friends always comment about how relaxed and content they feel here and how difficult it is to leave.
Many arrive with great plans of visits in Provence but end up just enjoying the place, the food, the pool, the good rest in the hammocks ...and a reason to come back.
