We loved our abode, so unique and had that Mexican feel. The location is perfect just a 10 minute walk to downtown Merida. It is the perfect private place to stay, we used the pool everyday, you truly need to experience this place. Just a note, the communication is through WhatsApp while you're there so keep that in mind and get the proper contact info in case you need it, aside from that, our stay was awesome.
We enjoyed our 8 days at Casa Palmas. It is true to the photos and very comfortable. The fish pond is a pleasant surprise and the pool nice for a cooling soak after exploring Merida. It is only a short walk to the Plaza Grande which often has interesting activities. Lots of good restaurants easily accessible and a good grocery store within a 10 minute walk. The kitchen might be a bit better equipt and the oven was temperamental but things generally were good. Recommended.
The place was funky and bohemian...a good choice for artists who might appreciate the details. That said, it was about 100 degrees everyday and with the air only being in the bedrooms, we felt a bit stuck in the rooms. It would be a nicer stay at a different time of year. Some little improvements would be to change the dish sponges and clean up the pool better. The pond is open air and connected to the living room/dining are, so there are some bugs that get it in.The area of the house is very nice and walkable to Centro.
We enjoyed the space- with its nice common area/couches in the living room & all 3 lovely sitting spaces outside (the table & chairs sit outside on the patios of each apartment, as wellas at the backyard pool ). It’s a 15 min walk to the plaza Grande.
If you want to experience life in a normal Merida neighborhood than this is the perfect spot. Home is beautiful and well furnished. It felt safe and neighborly. Walking distance to plaza grande and Paseo Montejo (though on a real hot day that could be a challenge). A wonderful home base to explore from.
We had a wonderful stay. Property as depicted in the pictures- beautiful, thoughtfully decoarated, and spacious. The pool was a plus on hot days. On a quiet street yet within walking distance of the City Center The kitchen was well equipped We hope to come back!
Seriously the BEST place we have EVER stayed! The place is gorgeous and very clean. You have your own private pool which is so important for the Yucatán heat. Safe to drink water by the gallons. A wonderful experience overall! We will be coming back!
Esteban and Hiram were so helpful and responsive to all our needs. I have never been in a home so charmingly decorated and so so clean. The pool is wonderful and the rooms are separated in a way that privacy is very easy. I would recommend to anyone staying in Merida for a bit.
My partner and I stayed here for a week March 26-April 2 and it was a great location, no more than 15-20 minute walking distance to the historic areas of the central part of Merida. It is well appointed with beautiful furniture, art work, and special features such as an outdoor kitchen, next to the pool and lush tropical flora, where we spent most of our time while not exploring the city, to the indoor/outdoor fish pond, complete with waterfall and more lush flora, where we enjoyed feeding and watching the fish each morning over coffee(fish food provided). The indoor areas are spacious and decorated with 5 star interior design quality and at the same time, with impressive style, and beautiful artwork, furniture is comfortable and functional, with separate living and dining areas. The beds were comfortable and one thing that was a pleasant surprise was how quiet the neighborhood was, both during the weekdays, as well as the weekend evenings. We both slept very well. The outdoor space was equally impressive. Lots of attention to detail was obvious, such as good lighting and an elegance throughout that was a nice bonus. At times, we had to "talk ourselves" into going out on the town because it was so nice to spend time at the house. We enjoyed exploring Merida and the house was a great place to return each day to relax and rejuvenate. It is an extra special place to have as a base point for when you need downtime and rest. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will return.
Lovely traditionally decorated house perfect for two couples or families. The first bedroom downstairs has a full bath attached and opens to the back patio. The second bedroom upstairs has a bath with shower and opens to an upstairs patio. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet at night for sleeping. The bedrooms have air conditioners and fans so we were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio with pool and kitchen. The weather was warm when we were visiting so the pool was very welcome. Although we didn't cook much at the house it was nice to have a refrigerator by the pool for wine and beer. The kitchen had everything we needed including coffee maker, toaster oven and refrigerator. We did not use the living and dining room much since the outdoor patio was so nice but it was comfortably furnished and decorated. The owner was very responsive to our questions. Many restaurants and sights were in walking distance. We especially enjoyed meals and a cooking class at Johannes which is located only a block away. The food was very good and the staff very nice. The cooking class included a trip to the local market and we helped prepare a large meal with several appetizers, entree and dessert. There was a nice grocery store in walking distance to the house. We rented a car and parked it on the street in front of the house. All in all a wonderful week-long stay for two couples.
The property was gorgeous, especially on the inside. The decor is thoughtful and stunning! The open air style is beautiful, though very hot if you're not used to that. Only the bedrooms have air conditioning. We loved the outdoor pool and plants. We enjoyed coming home every night to spend time there after aate dinner.
Perfect location, in a quiet neighborhood but a close walk to everything you need. The house was beautiful and well-designed, and the pool was perfect and cleaned once a week. Our concierge, Esteban, was incredible and communicative and took care of everything in a timely manner. I prefer a softer mattress but anyone who likes a firmer mattress will love the beds. Kitchen was well-stocked with whatever we needed to cook, but there are so many great food options in the area, we didn't cook much. Loved having a second stove by the pool for lunch tacos though. With an extended stay, you have a housekeeper come weekly, and she was THE BEST. The house was immaculate every week, and really made the stay extra pleasant. We stayed for six weeks and wished we could have stayed longer!
Wonderful colonial home with comfortable furnishings. Perfect location, near Santiago Market and a delicious bakery just two blocks away. Parking right in front of the home. The courtyard was lovely and we really enjoyed the pool. Well appointed kitchens (yes this home has two!) Great Wi-Fi. Hot water is from a solar heater so our showers were a bit chilly in cloudy days in January. The owners were always available to answer questions and offer suggestions for activities in the area. I would highly recommend.
