An authentic slice of paradise

We have just completed our 11 nights stay at Banana Quit and we feel as if we visited the paradise. It was a special family celebration, so we were 3 families - 4 children aged 6-15 and 5 adults. I can’t quite describe how breathtaking the view from the house is. Even after those 11 days, we still stop to take it in several times a day. The house is immense, with an authentic Caribbean feel and all the modern luxuries. Do not expect modernistic architecture and minimalistic kitchen, but a very real, extremely spacious and delightfully decorated Caribbean house, adorned with local flowers. The common space is incredible - it is so spacious: there are several areas to enjoy meals with the view of the Pitons from different angles, and another several lounging areas. The pool is really large and quite deep, and with the stunning view - all our kids are good swimmers and divers so we all enjoyed it around the clock. You will be surrounded by the tropical forest so expect to be immersed in sounds and views of nature. We absolutely loved it and enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t remember last time I slept so soundly. The setup includes a lovely and discreet housekeeping team who cleaned and cooked. The team finish at 3pm so in the evening we had the full privacy to enjoy the delicious meal cooked a couple of hours earlier. It worked really well for us. We rented cars (4x4 is useful) and used Anse Chastanet beach and scuba centre. Beautiful! Morning market in Soufriere is great too

Beautiful villa in a idyllic location

We had the most amazing time at Bananaquit House! The villa is really beautiful, loads of space, wide views of sea and the pitons. The staff are lovely, they look after you, make you feel at home and cook really tasty Caribbean dinners so you can focus on unwinding! The road leading up to the house is very windy and bumpy but adds to the experience, would recommend hiring a car or booking taxis to get around. Anse Chastnet beach is a walk or short drive away and you can find the best fish burgers in town on a more secluded beach around the bay. Highly recommend!

Spacious and relaxing property with the best view on the Island.

The property is fantastically located with great views of Soufriere and the Pitons. It's very peaceful, bar the occasional party boat passing by in the bay below. It's a great base for exploring the South of the island or just relaxing with a book on the terrace. Rooms are all large and come with mosquito nets (which you should use). The common areas are large, spacious and very clean. The swimming pool is of a decent size and has a great view of the sunset in the evenings. There are table tennis tables near the pool but the paddles have suffered a bit in the tropical climate so it would be worth bringing your own. Anse Chastenet and Anse Mamin beaches (I prefer Anse Mamin) are fairly easily walkable from the house but it's a hot climb back up :) The staff are very friendly and helpful with cooking and laundry on request. They did some great local side dishes for us that lasted a couple of days in the fridge and served us for lunch and dinner. The roads are not great in the immediate surroundings, so local taxis are probably the way to go for transport. Overall we had a great time.

Awesome for our Group of 15

We had 8 adults and 7 kids, ranging from 8 to 13) with us on this trip and the house is laid out so we never felt that there wasn’t enough room. The cook and housekeeper and groundskeeper were all super friendly, helpful and the food was delicious. It’s not easy to cook for 15 every day! The house was exactly as represented in the photos, the view was amazing, the pool was big and clean and the beds were comfortable. Soufriere itself is a little sketchy, we didn’t venture in too much with the exception of a daily trip to the grocery store for supplies. I’ve been a lot of places in the Caribbean, Soufriere wasn’t exactly run down but I would say it was the “wrong side of town” for many reasons, a lot of the inhabitants looked to be addicts. We wouldn’t want to go at night, put it that way, but we didn’t feel unsafe during the day. Sam was good at communicating our questions about the house. For the price, it can’t be beat!

Extraordinary views, beautiful home, lovely stafe

What can I say about Bananaquit...the views will be imprinted in our minds and hearts forever. How blessed our group of 13 (9 adults, 4 kids) felt while there and continue to feel whenever we think of the house. AMAZING The VIEW!!! Wow - it truly is spectacular and special. It can't be overstated The STAFF!!! They were all really lovely. There every day but not intrusive at all. Incredibly helpful and accommodating! The GROUNDS!!! We all felt like we were living in a treehouse for a week...in the best possible way. You'd wake up with the birds chirping which was wonderful. GREAT The rooms were lovely...very different configurations throughout... I would recommend they add a detailed layout on the listing...it was tough to decipher the rooms, beds, etc. Note that the 3rd bed in the room with the bunk bed is really a 'toddler' bed and the 7th bedroom is really under the awnings and doesn't have a door. NOT SO GREAT The ROAD! Wow - you really do need to be an expert and super confident driver to use the roads. They are unpaved, bumpy, narrow and the blind curves are ridiculous. But of course that's not the fault of the house or owners...just think it's important to state. The BUGS! - Again the nature of the house, open air, with some rooms havivng shutters and no glass for windows, being so open to the elements comes with its challenges. Bring plenty of bug spray and plan accordingly! Overall we LOVED Bananaquit and would totally recommend it. It is a special place and the memories made there will last us a lifetime.

Fantastic house with view over the Pitons

Bananaquit House is in a stunning location, overlooking the Pitons and a few minutes walk from a lovely beach where you can scuba dive, snorkel, paddle board and kayak. The house is beautifully furnished and well equipped, with lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming and clean the house every day and make the beds, as well as cook the most delicious meals using local ingredients. The gardens are beautiful and the infinity pool overlooks the Pitons and has plenty of sun loungers and a table tennis table. We cannot recommend the house more highly - we had the most relaxing holiday and we pleased to be in a private house rather than in a hotel. This part of the island is particularly beautiful and has a number of interesting places to visit nearby, including the waterfall and the mud baths. The beaches nearby offer all the water sports and snorkelling - we enjoyed a visit to Sugar Beach and Anse Chastenet. You can travel by water taxi from Anse Chastenet beach which is a small walk from the house.

Amazing villa with breath-taking views

Some friends and I heard about the villa and decided to book it for a relaxing holiday. When we arrived the 3 ladies who work at the villa were there to greet us and the bedrooms were immaculately turned out with petals on the beds and the towels shaped like swans! The villa looks even better in the flesh than it does in photos and now has an incredible infinity pool which overlooks the Pitons and the sea - its a view you would choose as the last thing you ever saw- absolutely breath-taking! Everyday we would have breakfast cooked for us by the staff which was absolutely delicious, and they would also make us lunch or dinner if we chose. Their cooking is amazing and I thoroughly recommend the banana cake! They are also three of the loveliest hosts ever and made sure we had a fantastic time with lots of recommendations, as well as cleaning up for us and doing our washing. We were totally spoilt! I went diving whilst on the island which I would definitely recommend. There are also mud baths and lots of over tourist attractions close by but we generally made the most of the villa and chilled out. This is definitely the place to book if you want heaven, peace, tranquillity in a luxury setting and to be well looked after. My one tip would be book a car as the villa is high up in the mountains and the local town Soufriere is at the bottom so transport is a must even though taxi's are cheap.

Quintessential Caribbean Vacation

Our stay at Bananaquit House was simply amazing-The views are incredible, the villa is meticulously clean, and the bedrooms are spacious with high quality bed linens and very comfortable beds. We really appreciated the exquisite decor, the open layout, and of course, the ridiculously gorgeous infinity pool. I recommend letting the house staff buy all the groceries, wine, beer, and rum. Just let the amazing cook Margaret do her magic! For the grocery list, just say you want local, fresh provisions and catch of the day fish and the Caribbean go-to, chicken. Do not rent a car to drive to this house. I suppose the drive from the airport and through town is do-able but the drive up the ridge to the house isn't anything I would have wanted to attempt. Let the house manager arrange transportation for your group. The walk to the beach is nice and a vigorous work out on the way back up. We are an energetic and adventurous group and went down to the beach almost everyday for swimming. Do explore the beach area to find this lovely cove a short walk away from the resort area. A few of us hiked up Gros Piton. Glad I did it but would not do it again! Highlight of trip was the private catamaran snorkeling, sunset cruise with Mystic Man Tours. The house staff is extremely attentive and takes care of whatever it is you need or want. (We tipped each staff member individually instead of putting tips in the general house staff tip box.) We hope to return to Bananaquit House soon!

A positive but mixed Review

Our eight adult family members had mixed reviews. All agreed that the views were incredible, great location, staff eager to please, great cooks, flexible to meet our needs. Planning and accurate communication were important when it comes to meals. Mixed reviews centered around the house being an open-air design…meaning that there are no screens or glass windows…only wood shutters. Some of us loved the loud nature noises at night. Some of us loved bananaquit birds joining us for meals. Most found the mosquitoes tolerable. Some were not bothered by the occasional bats flying around nor the constant dampness. Yet others were not so accepting. The open-air design would be a 10 for some and lower for others. Air Conditioned bedrooms and mosquito nets helped greatly. I would guess the house was built in the seventies so some things are showing age, e.g., shutters not easily movable, doors sticking, electrical breakers switching off during heavy rains, aging appliances, etc. Yet the staff were on call 24/7 to correct any major issues that may happen. Our mixed reviews depended on one’s expectations, tolerance, and visiting in the wet season. If you want to hermetically seal yourself from St. Lucia’s nature, I suggest a hotel. But if you want to experience the true wonders of a tropical rainforest and wake up to the best view in St. Lucia, then Bananaquit is the place for you. Some of us would rate Bananaquit a 10…other family members not quite as high.

Beautiful home in paradise

We had a great time at Banana Quit. Group of 9 ladies. The house is outstanding in every way, the view of the Piton’s is amazing from the patio. The house service was great, great food from Margaret the chef. One very important shout out to Nimrod Vincent our driver, he was absolutely amazing he always picked us up promptly and would wait on us when we were out. Please request his service. We would not change one thing about our trip it was over the top.

No Luxury Experience

The house offers lovely views and an infinity pool (almost no shade) but doesn't meet luxury standards at any price. It's run down and needs major upgrades. We experienced multiple water outages. Two bedrooms had broken A/C, and the rooms had unclosable windows, only mosquito nets, making working A/C ineffective due to humidity and the fact they’re open to the outside. One suite was unusable due to intense chlorine smell (also very dark w/ low ceilings). Several bathrooms lacked towel and toilet paper holders. Breakfast service started 10AM, which is far too late for families w/ little kids. Dinner was delicious but the staff leaves early, so its “served” by being left on the stove when they leave. Non-working dishwasher so big mess overnight but the staff kept the house very clean. Fruit bats nesting in the rafters (again, the house is totally open) posed a serious concern (rabies anyone?). The 1st night included rum punch and a snack; afterward, we were on our own as the staff was gone when we got back from the beach. Advertised beach access was misleading; it's a challenging 30-40 min walk or an 8-min drive. The house is best for a bachelor party or folks who just need a lot of rooms. The house manager, was very responsive. I suspect he would love to fix all of these things but is not empowered to. Manager will ask for exorbitant fee to use credit card to settle the grocery bill. Overall, the house's condition and misrepresentations significantly affected our experience

Family Week Trip

Best view in the world!! Bumpy road up to the house. We had a great trip with our family of 7. The bedrooms can get hot as they have small ac air units and some of the plugs didn’t work. Jason is always quick to respond. Margaret is a great chef. Kendy is a great driver. The beach really isn’t walking distance but you can call for your driver. There are no TVs or cable in the house. About an hour drive from the airport, but the driver made it a smooth process. We all loved the house and would love to come back. Overall 5/5 best part of the house is the view of the pitons.

1st time to St. Lucia

The view of the pitons and ocean from the Bananaquit house is stunning! There were 11 people in our group and we had a lovely time at the house. We have been to a lot of houses with chefs and they are each a bit different. Margaret is a wonderful cook! We had two meals a day and the evening meal was left on the stove for us to serve ourselves. They made an extra trip to the grocery store midweek and once we paid a driver to bring us water. The communication with Jason, the house manager, was great. He is quick to answer emails and line up drivers. We enjoyed eating at the Rabot Restaurant, sitting in the mineral springs, hanging out at the beach below, spear fishing and drinking rum punch around the pool. We rented a catamaran for a half day where we snorkeled and also received massages by the pool. It rained the day we were supposed to hike the pitons. I wouldn't classify Bananaquit as a luxurious house which I would have expected with the price. It was beautifully decorated with local decor. We took many cold showers and my husband would have liked some dessert.

Great vacation

The house is stunning! It really is as good or better than the photos. The beds were comfy and the house was always kept clean. The staff were really good at what they do. Margaret AND Asha are amazing cooks. If we came to St lucia again with a group we would stay here again. Some tips for future travelers: about a month out Jason, the property manager, will send you information about your stay and send you a menu and a grocery sheet to fill out. Ignore the “menu” because you actually just choose meats off of the grocery list and Margaret will make different dishes based on those main items. We never knew what we were eating until we sat down for the meal. Be prepared that when it rains, it’s likely that the wifi and the US outlets will go out. There is a breaker in the house and all you have to do is reset it but I would have them show you where it is just in case you need it. Bring lots of bug spray. You will have an assigned cab driver but every trip is it’s own charge. The price is extremely reasonably though. For 3 trips to the airport, 2 excursions and 1 dinner it was a little over $300(which is less than we’ve spent on Ubers in other trips). Food pricing wasnt bad either, it was about $1000 including the service charge for 5 adults for 5 days. This included a lot of rum punch and an extra food run during our stay. Tips can be made in cash in a little box at the house or via credit card. We have a walk through video on YouTube of the house under “Bri & D Living”

LOVE Banaquit!!!

Our family had the BEST vacation in St. Lucia at the Banaquit house. Asha and Margaret- the two house ladies- greeted us each morning with a smile and made sure we had delicious food and a clean home. This is luxury living! The views from the house are unmatched and you’re just a 15 min (downhill and then very steep uphill climb back) walk to the beach! We recommend Anse Mamin over Anse Chasanet. Michael, the groundskeeper, is very friendly- he will bring you fresh fruit right from the grounds if you ask him to- we can still take the delicious Soursop and Mango! The icing on the cake is having a personal driver who knows the area and the people. Kendy is very friendly and we felt very safe on those mountain roads in the car with him. If you’re looking to be pampered in a unique, luxurious jungle island oasis- this is the place for you!!! Make sure to take care of each of the staff individually at the end- they will be so grateful to you!

Amazing!! Priceless Memories!!

I celebrated my 50th Birthday with Family and Friends and Bananaquit and I enjoyed every minute. When I walked in they had the table set and dinner prepared (our flight was delayed and they waited) they ladies who cook and do housekeeping for you are so sweet and make you feel at home. The food was delicious. Jason the house manager the night of my actual Birthday brought cake and decorations and made sure all of the food items I requested were prepared for my Birthday. Now back to the house the view the view the view; Gods beauty is amazing, priceless view! The rooms are spacious and slept 14 of us comfortably. The pool was refreshing, clean and great size. Jason arranged for massages by the pool for us on Day 2, best massage I had in a long time. Our house Driver Kendy I can not say enough about. He was kind, helpful and made sure we felt safe everywhere we went. We love you Kendy!! Remember Saint Lucia is an Island so the steep rough road to the house is what gives you the million dollar view. We were going to rent 2 vans at first but because we arrived late one van was gone so we opted to just use their transportation. And All though this decision was made when we landed Jason quickly had drivers at the airport to get us all to Villa. You will spend more using Transportation Service (especially if a group) but well worth it. Jason also arranged a Catamaran day for us for my Birthday afternoon and it was the highlight of our trip. Sam, Jason, Kendy, Margarot(cook) and the 2 beautiful other house ladies made sure my milestone Birthday was amazing. I will be back next Year!! Bananaquit house with it open air concept gives you the amazing Island charm!!!
