About this property
Beautiful Victorian family house near river
Our beautiful victorian family home is not a standard holiday let and is available for limited periods throughout the year. Located just 10 minutes walk from the centre and quayside of Wivenhoe - a cosmopolitan and historical village located on the stunning Colne river/estuary in Essex
Our home is positioned between the lovely Constable inspired grounds of the University of Essex - home to the critically acclaimed 18th Century Wivenhoe House Brassarie restaurant and the picturesque Wivenhoe quayside, which offers a wealth of pubs, boutique shops, restaurants, coffee shops and includes a gourmet deli.
Our family home has four double bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 people . The master has a king sized bed and and ensuite shower room. There are a further two bedrooms with double beds and one triple room consisting of bunk beds with a pull out single mattress as well as a small sofa bed. The family bathroom has a bath with shower attachment.
The gorgeous period dining room has a large dining table which seats 10, perfect for big gatherings. Our home has two wood burners ensuring the house is toasty and welcoming all year round ! The cosy kitchen features an authentic and fully working aga, perfect for winter months. The beautiful south-east facing wrap-around garden has a bbq , a decked outdoor entertaining area with lounge seating for 10 and a dining table which seats 8. There is also a trampoline to keep the children happy !
Wivenhoe is home to The Black Buoy, voted best rural Essex pub 2016. The quayside opens onto the stunning Colne estuary with walks meandering along the coastline. Also based in the village is a mainline station. With London Liverpool Street only an hour away, Wivenhoe is perfectly situated for London day trips.
Surrounding Wivenhoe is a wealth of stunning blue flag beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty. With the nearest beach less than 15 minutes away and the beautiful Holland-on-Sea, Frinton-by-the-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze all within a 1/2 hour drive, the beach is our children's second playground!
About us:
We purchased no 72 in October 2013 after falling in love with Wivenhoe and the surrounding area. The fabulous riverside location, vibrant community, history and culture of the village was a big pull, as well as the great commute into London.
Attraction to this beautiful family home was instant, with its wealth of original features, beautiful garden and unique character. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as our family love living here!
We have a little aged cat called Gia, whom will require cuddles (although she is very shy) and feeding during your stay (all cat food supplied)!
