Couples Retreat with Hot Tub, Lake & Mountain Views in Big Canoe Luxury Resort

"The Nest" is the perfect couples mountain retreat. We are located in the upscale gated community of Big Canoe, which is an hour north of Atlanta. "The Nest" is perfectly perched in the upper Treetopper section which overlooks Lake Petit and features year round lake and mountain views, all while remaining extremely close to the Heart of Big Canoe amenities.

Completely remodeled with open-beams, wood ceilings and floors, along with floor to ceiling windows this cottage immerses you into nature among the trees. Fully equipped modern kitchen including everything to prepare meals. Complimentary coffee/creamer/sugar. King size bed with plush mattress and layered bedding for your comfort. Cabin is equipped with propane gas logs (September- April) a Smart flatscreen TV and high-speed internet (cable is not available). Outdoors enjoy nature while on the decks which include a bistro table for outdoor dining, propane grill, two lounge chairs and a hot tub!

Resort style amenities at Big Canoe include three 9-hole championship golf courses, eight outdoor & two indoor tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool and two seasonal outdoor pools ( Memorial Day - July 31st then weekends only through Labor Day), three stocked lakes, Big Canoe Marina offers rental pontoon boats, john-boats, kayaks and canoes. Also, there are miles of hiking trails, a beach, rock slide and jeep trail. The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti offers fine dining with lunch and dinner menu's, a fully stocked bar, take-out menu, Sunday Brunch and weekend entertainment. Please note additional fees for amenities apply and can be paid onsite.

Big Canoe is an official Wildlife Sanctuary and as such each guest needs to respect local wildlife. Big Canoe is home to several species of birds including the bald eagle, quail and wild turkey. You'll also see black bear, deer, rabbits and squirrels. Guest should never leave food items or trash outdoors. If needed there are dumpsters close to the North Gate.

Off-site there is plenty to do in the North Georgia Mountains. Gibbs Gardens, Amicalola Falls, and the Tate House are all about a 15 minute drive. The North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawsonville with 140 stores is a short 30 minute drive. "The Nest" is also convenient to Ellijay with apple festivals, wineries, and local antiques.

Amazing Views and Beautifully decorated

Just Gorgeous!

My husband and I stayed last week and had such a wonderful stay. The hosts were exception and responded very quickly. They made sure everything was perfect for our check in. In the cabin there was a nicely laid out book telling you everything you need to know. No stone was left unturned. I highly recommend staying. The views alone are worth it! The community of Big Canoe was wonderful and had so much to do. We did a ton of hiking and took in all the sites. We will definitely return if we are back in the area.

Spectacular cabin

My girlfriend and I stayed at the nest over the weekend. It was absolutely wonderful. The cabin was so cozy and gorgeous. The view to the lake was fantastic from both the cabin and the hotub. It was just right for the two of us. Perfect for a short little get away from the city. We will definitely be back. Couldn't recommend it more for a wonderful couples retreat.

New Years with friends

The Nest is exactly as advertised. The images posted are exactly as we found it. Very comfortable bed, furniture and linens. We never had to turn the thermostat above 72 even though the temperature was 32 to 50 outside. The fireplace was an added bonus for atmosphere and coziness. We only used the coffeemaker as we were visiting friends in Big Canoe but all kitchen needs were top notch which is not typical in many rentals. The views from the cottage were beautiful! Didn’t use the hot tub or outside seating as we were busy with friends. Communications with owners and instructions left for check in and check out were timely and helpful. We highly recommend a couples retreat at the Nest! Thanks for the hospitality!

Fantastic Anniversary Getaway

My husband and I had the best time celebrating our anniversary while staying at The Nest! It was so cozy and perfectly decorated. It also had everthing we needed for our stay. Awesome couples retreat!

This was honestly the best VRBO we have ever had. The place was cleaner than any other we've been in, very well appointed, and nice in literally every way. The bed was comfortable, the hot tub was fantastic, and the view from the porch was awesome. We saw tons of wildlife and our favorite thing quickly became having our morning coffee and waiting to see what animals passed by. I cant say enough good about this place. The host was a great communicator and very pleasant to deal with.

Excellent getaway!

The Nest was just what we were hoping for. A great location that is quite and peaceful in a beautiful setting. The view from the deck is spectacular with wonderful vistas of the lake and surrounding mountains. Big Canoe is also a beautiful community with many amenities if you so desire. We only ventured out once, to the golf clubhouse where we enjoyed an afternoon snack and some iced tea at the bar. We followed that up with a short walk on one of the many nature trails in the area. The Nest itself is a beautiful little almost treehouse style one room bungalow with a bathroom and kitchen. It was all we needed for our mission of rest and relaxation. This was a quick three night stay and our only regret was we didn’t stay longer, we couldn’t have been happier.

Cozy Getaway!

We had such a great time at The Nest! Everything was clean and we had no problems with any amenities. It's in a safe community, and it's in within driving distance to hiking and wineries. I'd definitely recommend this adorable cabin if anyone wants to have a quick and fun getaway to north Georgia!

Best 1st Anniversary

Our stay at The Nest was absolutely perfect! My husband and I went to Big Canoe for our 1 year anniversary, we love the community so much. The Nest was easy to find and situated perfectly on the side of the mountain for breathtaking views. The hot tub was the perfect way to wind down from the hikes and adventures every day. Hardie and I first discovered Big Canoe in the summer of 2017 and were amazed with the natural beauty and amenities offered in this luxurious mountain community. We began searching for our perfect mountain retreat and decided the treetopper section of Big Canoe would fit our desires nicely. Fortunately, we found one of the few treetoppers overlooking Lake Petit. It needed work, but we simply couldn't pass up the view. Hardie completely remodeled the cabin himself and bought our vision to life. We have named our cabin "The Nest" which means a comfortable or cozy residence or situation; a retreat, or place of habitual resort. We would love to share our little piece of Big Canoe with you and hope you enjoy this magical place as much as we do.
