About this property

Bookcliff Ranch Casita

The Casita is attached to our home but separated by the two car garage. It is a southwestern style ranch surrounded by alfalfa fields and very large old growth cottonwood trees. The Casita is inside the gated main courtyard wall, which provides security and serenity. There are no neighbors close to the ranch, we are offset from the end of the road cul de sac by nearly 1/4 mile. The pool is located in the backyard of the main house and is suitable for use from Memorial day through Labor day. The wildflower gardens enhance the sights and smells of Western Colorado as well as providing ample food for butterflies, honey bees and Humming birds. Several runs of grape vines line the pasture fence at the back of the property. There are many ways to enjoy walks and bike rides along the Highline canal and local roads as traffic is minimal in our area. Wildlife viewing is readily available, mule deer, coyotes and birds including a family of red tail hawks call Bookcliff Ranch home. On special occassions Golden eagles and Bald Eagles are seen.
The Casita is best suited for 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults, 2 of which could share a bed. Additional guests will be charged a one time fee of $35.00.

Peaceful Country Retreat

Rob and Krista have a really special place that is comfy and cozy and had everything as listed. They were very attentive to my needs and had great communication. After booking they gave detailed instructions on how to find the location and check into the property. Krista greeted me upon arrival and showed me the lovely little casita and how to use appliances. I would definitely consider coming back!

Wonderfully Peaceful

Rob and Krista were super accommodating. I didn't have a crate to put my dog Titan in, but they were flexible and let him go without. Titan met their dog and enjoyed going on off-leash walks around the property.

The absolutely perfect casita!

The perfect “home away from home.” Stunning property off the beaten path. The casita was immaculate and very comfortable. It had everything we needed to be comfortable. Just bring your food if you don’t plan to eat out every meal. The owners were friendly and helpful. We could not have had a better experience! And the sweetest dog greeted us everyday.

Beautiful Casita

I needed a place to have an outdoor photoshoot and thought this property would be a great fit. I asked the owner if I could use the outdoor space before booking. We used the Casita to change clothes in. It was spacious, beautiful and extremely clean. The property itself was gorgeous and located in a peaceful location. Would definitely recommend this VRBO. I hope to continue to use it for other photoshoots several times a year.

Beautiful Views and Starry Nights

This is a special place. From Rob being an excellent host just checking in to make sure you have what you need all the way to the amazing natural vista that you wake up to every morning, the stay at the Bookcliff Ranch should be on anybody’s list.

Appears nice on outside but not worth the money

Dissapointed, Their dog started barking at 6 AM and didnt stop until I got up to find him. That was after a sleepless night from an old, very loud swamp cooler, right above my face while sleeping. The owner asked me not to turn the swamp cooler to cool, even tho the guest room was unbearably hot. He said the room would cool down at night, which it does not without turning the swamp cooler to cool! Although I paid for a room I could sleep in, for his convenience, I couldnt use the swamp cooler to cool the room. He also lists a pool but makes it so you have to go out of your way to ask him, so again we found it uncomfortable to use because he acts like its an inconvenience. This host is good at making you uncomfortable enough to have unpleasant stay! Thankfully only one night of that. Felt ripped off :(

10 out of 10 highly recommend!

From start to finish, this was by far my favorite stay in any other Vrbo house! The Bonino’s were very accommodating and friendly! We were even given fresh peaches! I love that they lived on the property and are there if you should need anything. The pool was so nice! Clean and the perfect temperature. Robert made sure it was open for us when needed… even extra early on the morning of our departure day, so we could enjoy one last dip (my 8 month old is a water baby)! We will definitely make this our go-to spot for when we are visiting the Grand Junction/Fruita area.

Peaceful & close to Colorado National Monument

Hosts, Robert & Krista, offer a peaceful spot for relaxing. They were great at communicating with us about checking in and out. They were also available if we had any questions or concerns during our stay. During our stay, we visited Grand Mesa Park, which is about a 2 hr drive away and Colorado National Monument, which is about a 30 minute drive to the entrance. We were traveling with two small dogs (15 lbs each) and appreciated the open space around the property to walk our dogs. They do request that dogs are not left alone in the casita. Kitchen of casita was stocked with essentials to cook on a stovetop, use a microwave or a toaster oven. Bathroom had towels, hand soap, lotion, small hair dryer and a small trial size collection of shampoos. There was no body soap/wash supplied. In the mornings, we enjoyed having breakfast at the table and watching the hummingbirds coming to get a drink from the feeder. We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful stay. Thank you.

About the host

Hosted by Rob and Krista Bonino

Host profile image
We are both retired from the US Army and recent residents to the area. This area offers dozens of chances to enjoy the outdoors and explore new and different sights. We moved from western Kentucky to escape the heat and oppressively high humidity. We found that climate here, in addition to the climate this area has an excellent school system and a safe and stable community where kids can walk or ride bikes nearly any place and feel safe.

Why they chose this property

Quiet, serene and off the beaten path. Full of amenities and DOG friendly. Our property is gated and safe for family pets.
There is a one time $25.00 pet fee.

What makes this property unique

Close to so many outdoor activities and opportunities you may never see or experience all the trails and venues in and around Fruita. The views from nearly every spot on the property are unrivaled, from the Colorado National Monument to the west to the Bookcliffs to the east the North Fruita desert and mountains to the much to see and do! The ranch house sits nearly centered on the 100+ acre property and is quiet at night and dark enough for some excellent star gazing.
