Perfect for four couples and golf

Beautiful historic home in downtown Boyne City. We were four couples so each of us had our own bedroom and bathroom. The view in the backyard of Boyne river and the fire pit for evening gatherings was absolutely perfect.

Annual family vacation

12 of us comfortably stayed at the house for a week. Everything was as described. We had fun kayaking on the river, the kids played in the yard everyday, fished in the backyard and had a short walk to the downtown area.

Perfect Up North Home

My family and I had such a wonderful time in Boyne City, mainly because of this home! It was a perfect location: walking distance to all the restaurants, right next to the Fourth of July parade route, and on Boyne River, which was perfect for kayaking. Wonderful balcony area to relax and read when it rains. Great place for fires at night too. Lots of room to stretch out in the evening as well. Thank you so much!

Winter Wonderland House

What a beautiful home! For Christmas this year, we took our adult children and two grandkids on a five day ski vacation. Our vacation rental was not only close to Boyne Mountain and other outdoor activities, but it was also extremely comfortable and roomy enough for two small children and 7 adults. Mary Ann made us feel welcome from the time we entered the front door and saw the beautiful Christmas tree and and read her welcome note until our checkout on our last morning. The immaculately clean house is furnished with everything you need from bed linens and towels to cook ware, condiments and spices. In addition, there are books in case you run out of reading material, games for children, and plenty of TV choices (although with so much to do we found we didn't use them much!). Shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. I also appreciated that Mary Ann checked in a few times with us via VRBO messages to make sure we were happy. We would love to rent this home again in the future. We highly recommend it!

Boyne City Castle

This home was absolutely wonderful for our family. The kids spent hours in the backyard fishing, kayaking, yard games. We walked everywhere in town, cute shops and many good eating establishments. I would totally recommend this home for multigenerational families. Thanks Mary Ann!

Sibling vacation

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful property! There is just one thing that I would like to mention, and that is that one of the upstairs bathrooms needs attention. The one with the pedestal sink/claw-foot tub. Plumbing needs work on both. The sink was unstable and the plumbing leaks for the tub. We still however, had a wonderful time.

Loud Street

The backyard is beautiful and we loved using the kayaks, playground equipment, and fire pit. However, if you are looking for a serene setting, this is not it. There is a utility power plant on the other side of the river with bright lights at night and the noise off of Main Street is very loud. There is no privacy from either side of the neighbors. The house was okay. The back doors off of the master bedroom are very hard to lock. The hot water in the clawfoot was not working until my husband realized the valve was shut off due to a constant leak. There were no blinds or curtains in one of the bathrooms. And the soap dispenser in every bathroom was only filled half way. We are in a pandemic and to cheap out and only fill the soap half way is ridiculous to me. The kitchen is very dated and made cooking difficult. It is separate from the rest of the house and closed off. If you are a lover of older homes and don't mind the noise of the Main Street and lack of privacy, this would be a good house for you, but it wasn't our cup of tea.

We stayed here for a family reunion and it was great! Very relaxing to sit around the firepit and make smores. The house was very well stocked with all of the necessities. The beds were very comfortable. There were even toys for the kids to play with! Will definitely book again! Our host was very responsive when we had a question!

Large historic home on main drag

The home is situated on a very busy & loud main road into Boyne City. This is not a tranquil & relaxing setting. The home is historic so has an old odor. The A/C was poor and owners say not to go below 72 degrees🙄. There is a washer but you must bring your own detergent but there were plenty of towels provided. The strangest part was the neighbor...he kept appearing out of the bushes when we were outside. He was super nice but still, not very private.

Great Home base for Wine Weekend in Petoskey

My wife and I and two other couples had a wonderful time staying at the A J Beardsley Home in downtown Boyne for a 4 day weekend as we toured the local wineries, shops and restaurants in and around Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix. The house is very large so you can spread out and is both comfortable and beautifully appointed with period pieces. Given that 3 of the 4 bedrooms have ensuites was an added plus. We had no issues sleeping - the beds were comfortable and the home is well equipped (pots and pans, towels, bedding, Keurig, smart TV, games and books, etc.), so you can just show up with your luggage and not need to bring a lot of extra stuff. This house is especially nice given you are steps from Downtown Boyne City, which has several nice restaurants and shops so whether you don't have to drive anywhere if you don't want to. Although it is adjacent to the main road into town and we initially thought that it would be noisy with traffic - it wasn't. The house also backs up to a lovely river and although we didn't take advantage of the fire pit or kayaks (due to being too tired after long days running around) we did start a couple morning with coffee on the lovely deck overlooking the river. Really nice! I would add that the owner made it very easy - she was both communicative during the planning session and had good instructions on how the house "worked" - no issues and we enjoyed a nice little welcoming treat when we arrived the first day. Finally - The photos on the website/description did a good job of displaying what you are getting when staying here and , as for us, if we are in the area again - would definitely stay at the this property.

Fantastic Experience

We loved our stay at this home. There were 8 adults and 2 children--plenty of room for all. The location is amazing. We loved being able to walk into town to get coffee, shop or go to the beach. The yard with play structure and games was a hit for my 3 year old grandson and he loved being able to fish right on the river. Kaying on the river was so nice. The house is well equipped with anything we needed. Mary Anne was responsive to all e-mails prior to our stay. Highly recommend this home and would stay there again!!

Amazing location and historic, beautiful home!

We loved everything about the house! It is one of the first houses in town but fully decorated and stocked for visitors. The beds were extremely comfortable, and there were accessories for all types of activity - bonfires, kayaking, etc. The house is also only a few blocks from anything and everything in the town, so it was extremely easy to get around Boyne City. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
