Fantastic base for hiking Glacier, Waterton Lakes, or just enjoying the quiet lakeside.
Val was amazing and the home was just as described!
We could not have asked for a better host or vacation home away from home!
The house was larger than I expected. The house was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to cook and an abundance of spices. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great and we were able to easily drive to Glacier National Park every day. The only downside was the road you have to take to get to the house. There were a lot of potholes but we managed fine.
The cabin is exactly as described. It is clean, well stocked, comfy beds, quiet, and perfect location for exploring the east Glacier area. We had a great stay and highly recommend this place!
Our stay at Duck Lake was wonderful! The location was great for our hikes into Many Glacier. The house was a great lakefront cabin. It had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen & bathroom. The bedrooms even had racks for hanging up items.
Would highly recommend this house.
You do need to be aware that the dirt road has a lot of potholes, but easy to drive around with care 😁.
Cabin as described. Was well stocked. Everything up-to-date. Beds comfortable. Location excellent for access to East glacier hiking.
Would definitely stay again and highly recommend. Owner communicated accurately and quickly. Great reunion spot for our family given we come from different coast of the US.
Made great memories
The cabin is spacious, nicely furnished, and well stocked. Val was very responsive to our questions - we had no issues during our stay. It is very convenient to the Going to the Sun Road, Many Glacier, and Waterton Park. As mentioned the entry road is a little rough. This is a great place to stay when visiting Glacier National Park.
Perfect home base to explore Glacier from the east side
Our stay was very nice. The cabin was well-equipped as many reviews say. We enjoyed the lake view during down time. The road to the house is very rough, but we had a rental and it was fine. I strongly recommend staying here!
Cute, clean, and well stocked cabin! Great location for accessing Many Glacier and Waterton! The hosts provided detailed directions and instructions for getting there, as mentioned in other reviews, the road is very rough! Also, if you prefer a firm bed, the beds are quite soft. are
Excellent Home-base for Exploring the Eastside of GNP
This property has everything - easy access to Many Glacier and Two Medicine, picturesque views of Duck Lake, and a well appointed cabin with plenty of space to hang out. I highly recommend this property and Val was super easy to work with.
We have never been out west and we are hooked! Kids want to move out here now 😊 This place was perfect for our family! The kids loved swimming in the lake every day after hiking in Glacier. The place was clean, and plenty of room for our family of 6. The location is perfect for accessing Many Glacier, St. Mary and even heading up to Waterton. Val and Shane were wonderful hosts and geeat to work with. Highly recommend and would rent again!
This cabin worked perfectly for our family of four which includes two teenage boys. The setting was lovely and the location was ideally situated between the St. Mary’s Entrance and the Many Glacier Entrance to Glacier NP. Definitely recommend!
Really enjoyed our well-provisioned modern cabin on Duck Lake! It was quiet and had a great view of the lake, and best of all, was perfectly situated to visit Glacier NP from the East side. Our hosts were very informative and helpful when we had questions. We’d definitely go back again!
We had a wonderful stay at this property; the cottage was very clean, well-stocked, well organized and very comfortable. Being right on Duck Lake was a big bonus. The area was quiet and very conducive to just relaxing after a day of hiking in GNP (which is mere minutes away). The camp roads are a bit rough, but really not a problem at all - just slow things down and enjoy the ride in this beautiful area. If you're trying to decide on a place in this part of the GNP area, don't bother looking any further, just go with this property - you won't regret it.
This adorable cabin was perfect for our visit! It was clean, very well stocked and quite comfortable. It’s very convenient to Glacier National Park which was the reason for our stay. Very peaceful setting to enjoy the beauty of the lake. I highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay very much, in spite of the bumpy road to the cabin, which other reviewers mentioned. We really wanted to stay on the east side of the park, and Duck Lake Cabin was perfect! Val is a great host—friendly, quick to respond to questions, and extremely helpful! We recommend highly!
The cabin is absolutely beautiful and clean. We enjoyed our time at the cabin. Looking out over the lake was great. And a great way to start the day. The cabin was clean and the area was quiet. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen. Valerie the owner was kind and helpful with any questions we had about staying in the area. If we return to glacier we will would love to stay again. Positive experience all the way around.
We really enjoyed this peaceful cabin right on the shore of Duck Lake. There was plenty of room for our family to spread out and be comfortable. The cabin is well-maintained and very clean. Honestly, the listing photos don't do it justice. There were plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows for all of us to use. While there wasn't laundry available in the cabin, it was easy enough for us to run a few loads at Johnson's RV Park in St Mary.
There aren't a ton of food options nearby, but the full kitchen - and available oil, vinegar, and spices - made it easy to whip up meals after busy days in the park. I had everything I needed to cook, grill, and even bake. The grocery options nearby are pretty sparse and do the trick if you forgot something, so plan to pack your groceries in Browning, Kalispell, or another major town on your route to Duck Lake.
As others have mentioned, the road is gravel and rough in some spots. We were not surprised at the road's condition based on these comments and our Outback handled it without issue.
Let's talk about proximity... this location is perfect for exploring the east side of Glacier National Park. St Mary is just over 10 minutes away, plus Two Medicine and Many Glacier are less than an hour away. We failed to bring proper documents for the border, but Waterton Lakes is also super close to this cabin. It made it easier on all of us to not have to wake up crazy early to make the drive from the west side to see all the east side sights.
Amazing location on a beautiful lake. The cabin was just what we were looking for with close proximity to both the Many Glacier and St Mary’s entrances. The cabin was clean, the beds and furniture were comfortable, and it had easily the best stocked kitchen we have ever rented. Having other items available like bear spray and binoculars was a huge plus.
The only negative, and it isn’t the fault of the owner’s, is that the road in from both directions is extremely rough. By no means is it the end of the world, but make sure to give yourself some extra time if you have time commitments in or around the park.
We definitely hope to stay here again if/when we return to Glacier.
We loved our stay on Duck Lake. Location was perfect for access to everything in the east side of Glacier. Many Glacier was less than 30 minutes and Logan Pass was easily under an hour. Went to Waterton Lakes in Canada one day and it was also under an hour. House was just right for our family. Loved the lake views. Kitchen very well stocked, great bbq pit and area to hang out non the deck. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We live in Washington and have been vacationing at Duck Lake for many years. We finally built our little dream cabin and want to share the wonderful serenity of the area with you. The weather is ever changing, so be ready for anything. It can change from morning to night and it is always an exciting adventure for us. We hope you enjoy the area as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
You will love the sunsets, it is our favorite part of the day. You can take a photo every night and it will never be the same. The fishing is our favorite part of our vacation and there is never a dull moment whether you fly fish or bait fish, it is all good! This is great spot on the lake to fish from boat or from shore.
