Lake Thompson is a beautiful, clean 500 acre lake absolutely perfect for fishing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, pontooning and swimming. The swimming areas are safe, sandy and shallow. 900' of shared shoreline and five piers allow plenty of room for boats and fishing, so bring your boat!
Mother nature smiles on our 14 acres of woods and beach. Enjoy volleyball, bags, a playground and smores by the campfire in a family friendly - Resort Style setting .

Relaxing Getaway

Very nice appearance of inside and outside; especially screened porch and deck for reading and enjoying view of lake. Good location to explore area restaurants and brew pubs. Enjoyed our vacation!

Hidden gem

We just returned from the most incredible stay at this cabin in Rhinelander WI and we are already dreaming of our next visit! The cabin was nestled among the trees, providing complete privacy and a sense of total immersion in nature. The interior was cozy and comfortable, with plush furnishings. The surrounding woods were a treasure trove of hiking trails, wildlife, fishing, boating and stunning vistas. We spent our few days there exploring, and our nights sitting on the fishing dock gazing up at the star-filled sky. The cabin's owners have clearly put a lot of love and care into creating a special space for guests, and it shows in every detail. Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or a combination of both, this cabin is the perfect destination. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Lovely cabin in the Northwoods!

Lovely cabin stay in the Northwoods: absolutely beautiful setting and cozy cabin feel. Gayl was wonderful and picked up right away when I called -concerned that I couldn't unlock the door. (It gets stiff in the cold!) We would happily return; 10/10 recommend!

Cutest Cabin on Lake Thompson

We had a wonderful week on Lake Thompson. The cabin was just as described and pictured. Owner was extremely easy to communicate with -- responsive in every way. The setting was picturesque and tranquil. The leaves were turning during our stay and it was beautiful to see. There were deer in the yard almost every morning. Turkeys and ducks, too. It's a short drive into Rhinelander, which was convenient. There are several good restaurants in the area. Three Coins at the Holiday Acres resort is just down the road. Farther afield, we enjoyed the White Stag Inn near Indian Lake and Little Bohemia Lodge in Manitowish Waters.

Our Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay. One of our son’s took out the yayak, we had a fire every night and had s’more. We grilled out on the nice Weber grill. We had some friends stop and family too. We saw two deer close by, a turtle,ducks, etc. There was a full wrap around porch, etc. The only thing if it is real hot there is no air conditioning, but nice fans.Gayl is great! We would come back!! Thank you!!

Northwoods getaway

This was just what I was looking for, a nice clean quiet cabin on a lake to spend time with my adult boys, kayaking, fishing and some great naps! Plenty of room to cook and if you don’t feel like cooking the town is nearby with many choices. Great place for the kiddo’s as well.

Family Vacation

Our family vacation here was fabulous. It was so peaceful and relaxing. There were 6 adults ranging in age from 19-70. The beach and zero entry into the water was great for my 70 year old mom. We floated in the lake all day and played games every night around the table. There was enough room for us to spread out and have time by ourselves. We are so glad we rented this property and Gayle was fabulous to work with!

Weekend Get Away

The enjoyed our weekend on Lake Thompson. The property was clean and it was well maintained. We enjoyed being outside and especially our quiet evenings around the camp fire by the lake with amazing amounts of stars shining down. Exactly what we were looking for. Thank you!

Great family getaway

My family had a quiet, relaxing week at this cabin. The kids enjoyed the swim raft, multiple play areas, and feeding the resident ducks. The location was great, just a short trip to town for shopping and plenty of day trip options available within an hour.

Great cabin on the lake

The whole family had a great and relaxing time at the cabin. Everyone swam off the dock to stay cool, especially on a few really hot days. Gayl and Jeff have a wonderful place and were great hosts. We’ve rented VRBO properties all over the country and this was one everyone wants to come back to again soon.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We had a great time, cute little cottage pretty lake clean water and nice beach the lounging beach chairs were so nice! My three little kids had a blast! It was hot because there was no AC but we managed with fans and all windows open. Overall we had a wonderful time!!

A Fun Getaway

The cabin was wonderful, clean, comfortable, and just as described. Owners were excellent and easy to get a hold of. There are many things to do such as fishing, playing different games and lots of outdoor space for activities. If you’re looking for a place to have fun and relax with your family, I highly recommend staying here! We had a fantastic time and plan on returning in the future.

Beautiful getaway

This was my first experience vacationing with Vrbo and I have to say, it exceeded any expectations I had. The initial process was very efficient and smooth. Gayl, the owner of the cabin, was such a pleasure to work with. She took the little bits of info on why my children and I were wanting to stay and she accommodated us so nicely, providing extra amenities accordingly. It was such a sweet touch and greatly appreciated. The cabin was very cozy, very clean and provided all the necessities you would find at home. We were so overly impressed with the cabin, the location and the whole experience!

Sweet retreat

We had a great stay at this cabin. We found it to be just the right size , in a great location, & clean. We had access to a private dock for our boat, play set for kids, fire pit, & small private beach not far from our door. It fit our needs very well & we enjoyed our stay. Gayl was helpful & easy to work with. We’d return.

Cozy Cabin

I thought the property was very well described and the pictures were very accurate for the actual home. We found the cabin to have exactly what we needed to be comfortable for a get away on the lake. We loved the beach and dock area. It was great for swimming and fishing from the dock...fish were caught. The fire pit provided a nice evening by the lake to enjoy sunsets, s’mores and pudgie pies. The location was great too, it was just a couple miles into town to get anything that we forgot. Communication with Gayl, the manager was great. She was very quick to answer all questions to help make our time enjoyable. Very friendly. We would highly recommend this cabin on the lake and hope to return in the future.

Why they chose this property

We decided to buy our cabin after visiting Norwood Resort. My husband vacationed here
as a child with his family many years ago. They were selling Cabins, and we decided this
was a great place for the family to come back to year after year to make great memories!

What makes this property unique

What makes this so great, is that Lake Thompson is an excellent Water Skiing lake!!
The whole family loves to Ski and Wake Board, so this lake has exactly what we love, smooth, calm water. It's great for fishing, too. There is always something fun to do & friendly people !!
