RENOVATERET Charm: 1920-tallets sommerhus med 3 hektar naturlige omgivelser. En kort, 5 minutters gang via natursti og trapper til dock på Lake Garfield med Adirondack stole, 2 kajakker og en stor kano. 5 soveværelser og 2 badeværelser giver masser af plads til din familie fornøjelse. Hjemme kan du nyde det store, lyse familieværelse udstyret med et fladskærms-tv med satellit-service, internet med høj hastighed og DVD-afspiller. Derudover er der en stor stue og spisestue med en charmerende gammel sten pejs.

Det afskærmede i verandaen er et andet godt sted at slappe af ... med et bord til 6 og et opholdsområde til at nyde den (vinter) udsigt over søen, gården og en flerårig have. Køkkenet har en stor spise ø område klart oplyst med ovenlys og skammel plads til 5. Køkkenet er udstyret til hver kokke behov ... og masser af bestik og tallerkener til at brødføde en menneskemængde! Det store soveværelse er nedenunder med yderligere fire soveværelser ovenpå.

Det er altid stille og roligt på Lake Garfield. Søen er over 300 acres, men synes ubeboet! Alle har elsket vores hus ... og vores store by. Vi håber du vil også nyde det!

Would Recommend

Clean, comfortable and spacious. Could easily accommodate a large family or friend group. Kitchen set up to cook anything you like. Quiet setting but also has TV, wifi and games galore with lake access with kayaks and canoes.

Cozy home

The home was well laid out and homey. The lake was an added bonus. We had a great few days away. Would definitely stay again!

Quiet escape

We had a wonderful restful stay at Lake Garfield. The house is well furnished with everything needed and is charming. I especially enjoyed morning coffee in the screened in porch. The path to the lake is steep so may be a problem for elderly o physically challenged folks. The boys did a lot of fishing and had pretty good results

Family summer holiday

This was our second stay at this property. Monterey is a quiet little town which is refreshing for us city folk but Great Barrington is close by for restaurants and shopping. There are innumerable hiking trails including the AT! The house itself is clean, kitchen is stocked with all the essentials, and the beds are comfortable. By far our favorite spot is the screened in porch. We highly recommend this listing!

Creative Retreat

We had such a lovely time in this incredibly charming lake home. It was perfect for our group of women artists getting away from the daily routine/scene while focusing on individual work. Much time was spent sketching/working on the screened-in porch, splashing around in the lake, and group dinners around one of the three dining tables on the premises. This house was well stocked with everything needed for a comfortable and fun stay: board games galore, multiple boating options, and various spaces to gather inside or out. Can't wait to return! note: As a lake house can get a little musky in btwn visitors, we noticed such upon arrival. Luckily this was mitigated once we turned on the downstairs air-conditioners and dehumidifier. (We were there during a heatwave of mid-80's during daytime.) There were also many fans throughout the house to circulate the refreshing nighttime air.

A comfortable week with family

We spent 5 nights in this family-friendly home near Lake Garfield. The extra large sofas in the living-room provided ample space for playing online games as a group. 6 grownups had plenty of room with room for possibly 4 more people! The walk down the nature path to the lake gave us our daily leg workout and led to a pristine, very swimmable spot with 2 docks (one in full sun, 1 in partial shade) and their were plenty of chairs for both. The drive to Great Barrington was lovely and we ate twice at No. 10 - it was that good. My family wants to rent this cozy house again next summer. Thanks for everything!

Family Gathering

The house easily accommodated myself and the other 6 adult family members with me. It is well appointed with plenty of room to gather and relax. Both bathrooms are on the first floor which can be little inconvenient. The lake water is very clear and the kayaks are handy for exploring the shoreline. The path to the lake in fairly steep and it has some uneven footing. This wasn't a problem for our group but it may be something that some guests need to consider. The dock area is shared with other families but the one that we met were friendly and considerate. Overall, we had a great time.

Fair stay

Well I think that the online photos were taken years ago. We drove by the house & then had to turn around. That was the start. From the entrance being crooked to the floors creaking the hose was older than we expected. Only modern appliance was the fridge & washing machine. Very small bedrooms upstairs to VERY SMALL bathrooms. Now the long walk to the dock. If you want to get in shape this is the place for you.

Summer fun in the Berkshires

We had a lovely time at the lake house! This property was well suited for our group, which included grandparents and children! The twin bed rooms are perfect for children, and the 3 queen rooms work well for adults. It is important to note that only one bedroom is downstairs (the primary) and both bathrooms are downstairs. If you have seniors or anyone with mobility issues, they will need to use the primary queen bedroom downstairs as the stairs to the 4 bedrooms upstairs are quite steep. Likewise, both bathtubs are claw-footed tubs, so it may be challenging for anyone with knee or hip problems to use the showers. On a positive note, the bathrooms are well-appointed with bath towels, great water pressure and hot water, and have good lighting! The communal spaces are the real star of this property. The family room has 2 HUGE sectionals for lounging/enjoying a movie. The living room area was great for our group - we enjoyed family game nights and reading. The screened porch was a treat both during the daytime and evening for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors without needing to worry about mosquitos. There's lots of options for dining, and the kitchen had a great assortment of equipment for meal prep. The only A/C is on the first floor, but the upstairs was comfortable at night with the fans upstairs during our stay. The property was 15-40 minutes away from activities. Our host was very attentive. :) We would definitely stay again!

Great Experience

Very comfortable house for all of us. We enjoyed the wood stove which really heats up. the kitchen is well equipped, has everything we needed; Very convenient to Great Barrington; the owner was very easy to work with. Hope to return again!

Relaxing

Extremely easy, house was beautiful and spacious. Fishing from the dock was awesome. 22 fish in 7 hours, 5 different species. Had a visit from a bear, awesome. The path to the lake is difficult but doable for most people.

Charming place

Very charming and comfortable house with a lot of bedrooms. Great to have one room to hang out in farther away from beds upstairs so parents can hangout and not wake up kids. Owner was very helpful. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful home and stay

We would have liked to know how difficult it was to get down to the water. Wife is 75 and couldn’t manage it. Bears gave us a thrill but scary for the grandchildren. The home was spacious and beautiful. Would recommend it.

College Reunion weekend

Our group of 7 from college had a great stay at this property, the home was clean and spacious and Marybeth was very responsive to any and all questions we had. The walk to the dock was a little farther than expected but nothing we couldn't handle. Once you're down at the dock though, you never want to leave. The lake was beautiful and quiet, and the fishing was amazing! Couldn't have been a better weekend away!

Warm and charming

The property is located very close to Great Barrington and Butternut Ski Area. We had planned to ski for a day and this place was perfect for our group. The house had an antique feel but it was equipped with modern equipments and furniture for comfort. Mary responded prompty and was very helpful with the check-in/out and house instructions. Would definitely recommend staying at her place.

great getaway

This property exceeded expectations and had more character and charm than the listing photos showed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the host was very easy to work with and accommodating.. We would stay here again.

Wonderful getaway in Monterey

Our family of four had a lovely time at Mary Beth's beautiful home. Lots of room, a large kitchen, very comfortable beds, and a bookcase with many family games like Monopoly, Boggle and others. Wifi is very good. Too cold to swim in November, but we had a couple of lovely paddles in the canoe and kayaks on Lake Garfield Very convenient to Great Barrington and lots of other Berkshire spots. Wonderful screen porch for morning coffees. Hope to return in the Spring. Thank you!!

Terrific place for a quiet retreat

We loved staying at Mary Beth’s place. It is large, and has several common spaces, so multiple people can enjoy privacy or quiet times. The area is beautiful. We were able to enjoy nice walks and hikes right out the front door. We also enjoyed Lake Garfield (Except for some loud motorboats on occasion.) Getting to the lake requires some downhill hiking (and uphill return). It is a little bit strenuous. The boats are right at the dock, which makes using them easy. The kitchen is well stocked, and large, making meal prep easy. The décor is attractive. And the sofas are cozy. The beds are very comfortable. There are 2 bathrooms, on the first floor. Since there is only one bedroom on the first floor, most guests will have to come downstairs to use it. Things that weren’t accurate in the listing: When looking for a place to stay, we rejected all listings that did not supply sheets and towels (as we anticipated a tight squeeze in our small car.) So we were upset when we heard at the last minute, only after we had paid in full, that we had to bring our own. Mary Beth said that this is COVID-related, but to the best of my knowledge, there is no science suggesting using freshly washed sheet (or washing guests’ sheets) endangers anyone. Likewise, we did not hear until a few days before our stay that “We will have limited supplies of toilet paper available for your use … Please buy ‘septic safe’ toilet paper.” It is difficult for us to understand why there would not be adequate TP for our use. We had to make a special trip to the store (at this time of COVID) to get a specific brand. And finally, we were asked at the last minute to either bring our trash to a Transfer Station (which was not open on the day we left) or to take it with us (impossible of our small car). We left it behind, but informed Mary Beth of that fact so someone could remove it. Since the fee included a cleaning fee, we were unhappy to have had these things outsourced to us. And from now on, before we make our final reservation with VRBO, we will ask, “Will there be anything required of us that you have not stated here, but that you will tell us right before we arrive?” And I would like to suggest that Mary Beth include these requirements in her listing, so that future potential guests can make an informed decision. That said, we are happy we stayed in this lovely house and area. And we appreciate all the nice touches.
