Banner Elk area mountain home located high in the Appalachian Mountains at 3,800 foot elevation with beautiful long-range mountain view. Cool summer temperatures, gorgeous fall colors and winter sports including 4 ski areas within easy distance.
4WD OR AWD REQUIRED IN WINTER!!
Watauga Lake, a clean, 30-mile-long TVA lake, is a 20 minute drive. Lees-McRae College is a scenic 10 mile drive; Appalachian State 15 miles.

Three bedroom, two bath home is located on a private drive in a quiet rural area. Home is completely furnished, sleeping six comfortably on 2 queen size beds and 2 bunk beds. Wi-fi internet access, Satellite TV, DVDs, and games and puzzles are available to entertain adults and children.

FIR infrared Sauna, Foosball and massage recliner add to the fun. Deck with barbecue grill looks out on an ever-changing view of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. Campfire pit with firewood just down the steps from the deck.

Other Items: Pet Friendly! Pets (up to 2) allowed. Pet fees are $10 per night, or $50 per week. Please be aware this is a 'dog friendly' neighborhood and there are several friendly dogs which may visit.

1/2 of rent due at least 60 days prior to arrival. Balance of rent and fees due at least 30 days prior to arrival.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 30 days prior to scheduled arrival. Early departures will not be refunded.

not happy

It was not nearly as close to what we wanted to do, as they said. Very dirty. old beer cans left in stand by bed. sheets were dirty we had to clean them before we used beds. Sand and some other kind of dirt or something in beds, Over all very dusty not cleaned well, The steam room was out side in a little room. Which was fine but that room had lots of spider webs and dirt , Chair was super dirty. So we couldnt use it. Then the final straw was I could hear rats scratching in the walls in the master bath. It is in the mountains so you will gets some things like. But the location was way off and it was way to dirty we ended up leaving. The couple were very very nice and warming . I wasnt going to say anything. But I payed for that and payed for a reclean fee. just wasnt fair. We go up there every year. Just wont be there.

Great views

The property has a stunning view of the mountains. The drive up to the property would be difficult in bad weather without an SUV.

Mountain Getaway

The house was very nice and was out away from everything. It was very peaceful and quiet outside and you had a great view of the stars at night. The house was clean and neat and had everything we needed for a good weekend getaway

Awsome

My husband, son and I rented the property last minute trying to get away from our home due to Hurricane Florence. We leave in Surf City, NC. The owner John and his wife were amazing and very helpful. The property is located 25 mins from Bonne and many attractions; very easy to access. It is simple, but very warm. It had everything we need and plus. The views are incredible and the area has many streams and trails close by. My son loved the fuzzball table and sauna. The house is private. We love it and definitely plan to go back. We had no problems with anything. We had great WIFI connection. I would highly recommend the rental for those who are looking for simplicity, privacy, but still being closed to all the attractions.

Amazing view!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend family vacation at the Mountain Vista House! Everything we needed was at our fingertips, provided by the very accommodating owners, and the house was clean and cozy. The view through the front window and from the back porch was absolutely spectacular. Our cell phones all got good reception with the wifi and the direct TV was great too. I enjoyed the sauna and the massage chair, and it was so nice to be able to take our two dogs with us, since they are family too. If you don't mind curvy, scenic roads leading to a quaint house on top of a mountain, then this is a perfect vacation home for you.

A perfect vacation

Perfect Getaway!

John and his wife couldn't have provided a more welcoming mountain retreat for their guests. It is secluded, quiet, and the fall colors were just stunning. The owners were also welcoming to our dog, Deacon, which made the weekend all the better. Many thanks!

VERY COMFORTABLE WITH GREAT VIEW AND CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO EVERYTHING

Thank-You John for a enjoyable vacation. The house and master bed was very comfortable.And the views of the changing leaves from the back porch was spectacular. The house is located very close the good food in Banner Elk, The ski resorts of Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain and the views of nearby Grandfather Mountain are a must see. Then after a long day of sightseeing enjoyed the sauna and massage chair, can not wait until my next visit. I give this rental a two thumbs up! see you for Ski season.

Wonderful respite!

The house was very nice. John and Judy provide everything to make your stay perfect! The house is far away enough from the "tourists" to be peaceful but close enough to all the attractions that we love in the Boone/Blowing rock area. And the Fergusons provide EXCELLENT directions and short cuts to anywhere you could possibly want to go! We are looking forward to another stay here!

Great view and pleasant stay

We stayed at this property. It has great mountain view and is a very quiet place to stay! It was also very nice of the owner to prepare many things needed for a trip in the property. That's very thoughtful and considerate of the owner. We enjoyed our stay for three days and played golf in a nearby beautifu golf course. The road was a little difficult to find at the begining when arriving. Yet, the owner was easy to reach by phone and guided us to the property with no difficulty at all. In all, we enjoyed our stay and are thankful to the owner for their thoughtfulness in preparing everything you can imagine to use for a trip from the kitchen to the bedrooms, e.g., vegetable oil, salt, seasoning, hand lotion, and almost everything. We appreciate the kindness and consideration of the owner. We l definitely recommend this property to a friend and relative. We will also consider returning when we make our vacation choice to stay in the mountains again.

We highly recommend the Mountain Vista House

Our stay at the Mountain Vista House was absolutely wonderful. Our hosts were very caring and provided much more than expectations. (even shampoo and conditioner). One only needs to bring food. The house was very clean, warm and cozy. They even provided blankets to keep warm as we sat on the deck overlooking their magnificent views of the mountain's foliage. Nan and I will hopefully return to enjoy their home again.

Very happy we chose this spot!

My friends and I are so happy we chose to rent this house. The view from the back porch was amazing! The mountain is beautiful. The house was nicely prepared for our arrival. Everything about the house was great. We enjoyed grilling steaks, watching football and playing Foosball. There are some teriffic hiking trails nearby. We hiked in Beech Mountain and in Linville Falls. The owners were extremely kind. You can't go wrong staying here!

Beyond dissapointed

Very upset. We are here now. Trying to contact the owner to no avail via phone. This "home" is beyond any level of filthy we have ever encountered. Very disturbing. Cannot describe how disappointed we are. Have photos illustrating filth but still trying to contact owner.

Great House

Very nice, secluded house with an awesome view. The campfire pit was great for sitting around talking and making smores. It would be hard to find a comparable place in the Boone/Banner Elk area for the price. I would definitely recommend this place and will more than likely stay there again for my next trip to the area.

Amazing View, Wonderful Experience

My wife and I stayed at the Mountain Vista property in late October and were able to experience the first snowfall of the season, which the property's owner warned me about a few days prior to our stay which was very kind of him. The house is very cozy and the massage chair and glider added to the relaxation. The view during the day is spectacular, but at night, it is even more amazing. The star-filled sky is breath-taking and the lights of the distant towns throughout the landscape add to the experience. While you get the benefits of being off the beaten path, you don't have the down side of feeling disconnected because there is a beefy satellite tv package and wireless internet, which was nice. Last, but not least, the hot tub was a wonderful way to end a busy day and relax while soaking up the spectacular view. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay, and John was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend this property to any couple or family looking for a great weekend in the mountains.

Great place in the mountains

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights in October of 2011. We came for fall colors and were not disappointed. There is a great view out the back windows and deck of the house of the valley below and the hill/mountains beyond. The sun rises above the ridge line and lights up the valley. The house and grounds were well taken care of. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There were plenty of sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, etc. There were only two of us, but there was plenty of room for more people. Even though there are a few other houses on the road to the house, you can't see any of them from the property. It was very quiet and peaceful. Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock were an easy drive from the house. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. We just wish it could have been longer. But we'll look forward to a longer stay next time!

Just what we needed

The mountian home was just what we needed. The home has everything we wanted ( hot tub and a gorgeous view ) and then some ...including a massage chair and garden tub ! The view was incredible and one morning I viewed the sunrise 3 times ! Honestly ! The home is quietly tucked away for peace and quiet with a beautiful back road drive but conveniant to surrounding activities. My homebody husband even said as we were leaving " I could stay for a few more days " and that says alot !

Absolutely AMAZING place to stay !!!!!

My husband , myself and my daughter stayed here from 7/2-7-10. The accomodations were the best I have ever had while on vacation. The owners spare absolutely NOTHING for the commfort of thier guest's. The Views in the morning from the deck are fabulous, the hot a nice treat in the evenings. My daughter enjoyed the movies and the wildlife(bunnies and deer), and my dog enjoyed the freedom to roam and explore. We will be back as we are planning to relocate to the Lenoir/Hickory area and will need some "get away" time. All the amenities of being at home were a nice touch. We will recommend this place to all our friends and family looking for a private secluded area for some R&R. P.S. Pictures and descriptions don't tell all for this property, it was even better than we thought !!!!

good getaway

The house was perfect for us. It is tucked away on its own private road. There we found peace and quiet, flowers and hummingbirds plus a breathtaking view from the back porch. It rained for most of our stay there but we were just happy to be away from it all. We had one sunny day to do a little hiking and to just enjoy the amazing outdoors in Banner Elk and surrounding area. The owners and the town people overall were so genuinely friendly and hospitable it was wonderful. Also I don't think its mentioned that there is a garden tub! That is a definite perk for me seeing as I only have a shower at home. It was nice to have a bubble bath! I had a good time and hope to return again some time.
