This charming red guest house in Cashiers was absolutely perfect! Nestled next to a peaceful stream, it offered the most serene and relaxing atmosphere. The space was cozy, clean, and stocked with all the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay. It felt like a little slice of heaven in the mountains. We can’t wait to return!
We enjoyed our 3 night getaway to the Cottage. It was comfortable, restful and quiet. Off the beaten path, yet it was a 15 minute ride to Cashiers or Highlands.
We cooked steaks on the grill and enjoyed the outside furniture while reading, and internet surfing. Birdie, our English Springer Spaniel played in the woods and the Brook.
Mike is a fly fisherman. Jackson County offers a great many streams. The cottage had brochures for excursions… We did two: 1) a rigorous hike from Glenville Lake to High Falls on W Fork of Tuckasegee. It’s 3/4 mile one way but a 300 ft plus elevation drop. Caught an 8” Brook Trout in pool below falls. Coming back out will get your heart rate up.
2) Day trip to the Chatooga River south of Cashiers and Highlands. We had a pleasant picnic and I flyfished.
If we have any complaints… the largest mattress is a little soft for us. And the outside needs some cobwebs brushed down. These are minor things. It is an old cottage, simple, quaint and restful.
Gig our host is a gracious gentleman and a brother in Christ. He was very responsive to our emails. He loved Birdie.
We plan to return to this Cashiers Cottage in 2025.

very modest little cabin, but homey. Porch is very relaxing, with good seating. Kitchen small but efficient. Bed comfortable but definitely a soft mattress. Nice black out curtains in main bedroom. Sure wish we could have gotten some sports channels on the TV. No SEC, ESPN, Braves network (that we could find). A suggestion: Might pressure wash the outside so the windows (with cobwebs) could be opened for the evening air. Might need screens to. Hate to let that NC mtn air go to waste.
My sister and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable time at Gigs place. The cabin is surrounded by beautiful trees and the little creek running through added to the serene atmosphere. We were visited by dear, turkeys, bunnies and even a skunk (we gave him his space…lol) The cabin was clean and well appointed with everything we needed for our 3 week stay. We hope to visit again next year. Gig is a great host! You won’t be disappointed if you choose this spot!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is in a great location and allows for exploration all around the area. Communication with host was great and check-in was a breeze. Would definitely recommend!
We loved having this cabin in the woods as our home base for exploring the surrounding mountains and hiking trails. The stream below is relaxing to hear all the time. Perfect for these two senior citizens. Comfortable living space furniture, thank goodness for the Wi-Fi access because you can't get it outside of this house in surrounding areas and towns if you are with T-Mobile. Nice walking along the driveway and road Not too steep but good enough to get in some cardio fitness. Beautiful property love the rolling hills and fields. Love byway 64 travel whenever you leave and return to the property. Conveniently located between Cashiers and Highlands.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cabin by the babbling brook. It’s central to Highlands and Cashiers and we made day trips to Clingmans Dome and Waterrock Knob. Highlands is amazing for the variety of restaurants and shopping. The cabin has old world charm. I was born and raised in Germany so the China from Bavaria, Germany was a lovely thing. The area reminds me of Bavaria.
This little house in the woods was just what this worn out teacher needed! Our host left us with a very well appointed home and if a problem cropped up (getting logged into channels) - whatever we needed, our host was very gracious about addressing our need without acting put out! It was a wonderful time of rest and relaxation!!
This cabin was lovely. It was tucked into the mountains next to a little stream that provided a perfect atmosphere for relaxing. There were hiking trails and waterfalls to experience not far away. Highlands provided shopping and eating opportunities as well. The host was so helpful and easy to communicate with. It was a wonderful stay.
Perfect addition to the main house for our extra guests. Very comfortable and well appointed. We were pleased with the communication with the owner. Thank you!!
This was our first visit to the Cashiers/Highlands area. What a beautiful place to explore. We visited multiple waterfalls, and so many more that we missed due to time constraints. We hope to visit again. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.
We wanted a weekend off the grid to relax and this cabin was perfect. We felt very safe and comfortable. Quick ride into the town of Highlands or Cashiers. Would stay here again.

Well, everything about this cozy little cabin in the mountains of North Carolina was wonderful! It was built in the 1920’s, and has retained its charm while assuring the need for modern convenience and comfort. The property has a large half covered half open patio with plenty of seating with a grill. The deck overlooks a a beautiful stream that is so inviting to walk down to. We really enjoyed how peaceful, quiet and private it was. The drive on the mountain roads there are so beautiful. I definitely will be going back.
This property was our idea of the perfect down time with our family (4 of us). It was very quiet and tranquil, about 10 minutes from Cashiers and less than 20 minutes from Highlands. Gig wss a great host and very responsive. He recommended the hike at Whiteside Mountain and it had fantastic views. We plan to make this our go to cabin when visiting this area!
Cabin was in a great locale for waterfall chasing. Property manager was great on communication and made everything very clear with all the ins and outs of the property.
After a couple of busy, stressful months, we wanted nothing more than a quiet, peaceful weekend and this was absolutely perfect. We visited waterfalls, climbed to the Yellow Mountain Fire Tower, drove the beautiful mountain roads, and found the most amazing yarn shop in Franklin, but mostly we spent time hanging around the house. The smart TV allowed us to watch the soccer game, the house was well stocked with everything we needed, and everything was nicely labeled so there was no question of which switch turned on what light.
