Sky Island is the unique ecosystem of the craggy cliffs of Shawangunk Mountains famous among rock climbers. Nestled between the Rondout Creek and the D&H Canal, the cottage sits in a pastoral glade of trees, birds and deer. Kerhonkson is a Hudson River Valley town of natural beauty. It's a five minute drive to Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve. This totally renovated 1840’s cottage is ideal for a couple, but also serves as a peaceful getaway for anyone wishing to spend some quiet time alone. It has a wood burning fireplace, cathedral ceiling with skylights and a private deck. It's an easy entry to the D&H Canal Rail Trail for walking, bicycling, cross-country skiing or bird watching. Regretfully, we cannot accommodate children or pets. Wonderful location and hospitality

This was our fourth time at this cozy cottage by the rail trail in Kerhonkson. As usual, the cottage is clean, fully furnished with all necessary amenities, and ready for winter with nice heating throughout. We had a really peaceful and restful time and we thoroughly recommend the place and the host, Irene.

One more great stay!

The house is very cozy and Irene is a wonderful host. We stayed two nights for the 3rd time. Each time has been a relaxing and rejuvenating time. If we come back to New York we will be staying here.

The most peaceful cottage!

Great second stay!

The cottage has everything you'd need for a relaxing stay indoors, as well as a wealth of information about attractions throughout the county, should you wish to explore. Irene was a delight to work with. We hope to return soon.

Coziest cottage!

We have stayed at this cottage a few times so far. It never disappoints! The cottage is so comfortable and cozy. We love that there is a wood fireplace. Irene keeps the cottage stocked with some nice amenities. It is close to Minnewsaka State Park and Mohonk Mountain. And New Paltz. My favorite is the rail trail right out the door! We will be back! Seeetest cottage!

The Cozy Cottage

Very beautiful property with plenty of amenities! Everything you need for the perfect campfire indoors. Great movie selection and library incase the weather isn’t the greatest. Always warm with beautiful sky lighting.

Cozy and Perfect

Wonderful for a 2 night stay. Cottage was super clean and cozy, and the light in the living room was beautiful all day long. Woodburning fireplace with kindling and wood provided was a nice backdrop for an evening movie from the excellently curated DVD collection- lots of classics! Instant access to the rail trail is a nice feature for a quick walk, with larger attractions like Minnewaska about 20 minutes away. I stayed in winter on a snowy weekend, and it was beautiful, but also looking forward to returning in summer to enjoy the deck and grill. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Another great retreat

Love this wonderfully designed property in a wonderful setting. Cathedral ceilings and skylights make the interior feel airy and spacious for its square footage. Perfect floor plan too. We loved our stay again and look forward to next time.

Sweet cozy cottage

This cottage is cozy and comfortable. It has all the elements I look for in a special place. It sits only a few yards from a canal trail for a nice walk in the woods along a creek. It feels extremely private. It is near Minnewaska state park for some nice hiking or walking. It’s very close to new Paltz, which is popular for many. Irene is the ultimate host ( in my opinion) thinking of everything to make you feel comfortable. She is easy to communicate with also.This was our third time at this sweet little cottage.and it will not be our last

Truly Enchanting!

The Enchanted Cottage lived up to its name. This charming, clean and well-equipped bungalow is the perfect place to stay. We were there to attend a wedding. We’ll be back to enjoy the hiking trails and other activities.

"Just Right" Fairy Tale Cottage

We loved our week away from it all in this cosey, well-appointed cottage. The beautiful meadow and rail trail setting rounded out the aesthetics and our enjoyment of this very special not-too-big-not-too-small-just-right place for we two. A wonderful week and a wonderful experience.

Wonderful quiet and cozy weeklong stay

We had a wonderful stay! Irene is a great communicator. There is plenty of brochures in the house for things to do in the area. The deck was so peaceful and access to the Rail Trail is great. A great cafe/market called Mill & Mason is 100 yards down the road from the cottage. We stopped there for coffee a few times. Great location and I would stay here again.

Outstanding resource for a peaceful getaway

The property is a gem, down a quiet little road and just off the head end of an old rail trail. The host is attentive to anticipate needs without being intrusive. Interior of the cottage absolutely lovely, cozy, and full of light from the many windows and skylights. The deck overlooks a large field and the hkuse has an additional large lawn off to the side that leads to a creek. Landscaping is also lively, with flowering shrubbery and flower pots, amd the shirbs amd tall trees create a private oasis of tranquility and natural beauty.

Perfect location!

This is an adorable, well maintained house in a perfect location. There is a trail right out the front door. It is minutes away from Minnewaska and Mohonk. A great couples get away.
