You will love this year-round cozy cabin located on tree-lined Black River Road between Bessemer and Ironwood. Take in the views of Big Powderhorn Mountian from your front yard by day and the stars by night!

A wooden walkway takes you to the covered porch at the main entrance where you'll find a bench where you can relax and take in the views.

The main floor features a living room with a convertible sofa that sleeps 2. There is a wall mounted 42-inch flat screen TV with cable, a DVD player, and a stereo capable of playing CDs, cassettes, vinyl records, and MP3s. There is also free WiFi for all guests.

The dining area will seat at least 6. There is also a built-in wall desk perfect for your laptop.

The kitchen is fully equipped with an extra-large refrigerator/freezer/ice maker, new gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, and separate wine refrigerator. In the kitchen you'll also find stainless steel cookware and a vast array of cooking utensils to help you prepare everything from a pot of chili to a gourmet meal. There is a complete set of dishes, flatware, and glassware for 8.

Just off the kitchen is a breakfast nook with a built-in table with seating for 2-3 people.

There is a very spacious bathroom located on the main floor complete with a large, well-lit vanity and full size tub/shower. The bathroom is fully stocked with plenty of towels and basic toiletries (in case you forget your toothbrush or shampoo at home).

Located off the bathroom is a laundry room with a full-size washer/dryer with plenty of laundry supplies. There's also ample storage for everything from suitcases to skis, helmets, snowmobile suits, etc.

Upstairs you will find the master bedroom with a queen size bed, dresser, nightstands, and a flat screen TV. A sliding barn door provides privacy and rustic charm.

Across from the master bedroom, you'll find the second bedroom that can accommodate up to 4 guests. There are three twin beds. Two of the twin beds feature under-the-bed drawers for extra storage. The third bed features a pull-out trundle bed for an additional guest. The second bedroom also features 2 nightstands/dressers, a ceiling fan, and a flatscreen TV.

Both bedrooms come complete with comfy new mattresses and bedding for a restful night's sleep.

Take in the tranquil scenery outside the sliding glass which opens to a stone paver patio overlooking the large yard. There is a gas grill along with a fire pit and all the firewood you need for those cool evenings.

There is paved parking for 4-6 vehicles and winter rentals include 1-2 spaces in the heated, well-lit garage.

About the Bessemer/Ironwood Area:
You will be located in the center of ski country. The shuttle is available in the winter to take you the half mile to Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort. You're also a short distance from Blackjack Mountian and Indianhead Mountian Ski Resorts.

Snowmobilers and ATVers are less than 2 miles from Trail #2, which will take you east further into Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula, or west into the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

You are less than 20 minutes from Little Girls Point and Black River Harbor, two picturesque areas of Lake Superior. Little Girls Point has a beautiful sandy beach and campground

You're located only 6 miles from Copper Peak Ski Flying Hill. There are only six in the northern hemisphere and this is the only one in the United States. It is in the process of being restored and will be hosting international events within the next few years in addition to be used as a training facility for Olympic caliber athletes. Now it hosts the Red Bull 400, a grueling uphill foot race that brings international competitors to the area the second Saturday in May. The Saturday after Labor Day it hosts the Copper Peak Trails Mountain Bike Race that uses the terrain of Copper Peak to provide a challenging course for even the most experienced rider.

Gogebic county offers over 90 waterfalls with trails ranging from beginner/handicap accessible to "experienced hiker." You are also located less than an hour from the entrance to the Porcupine Mountains (Porkies), and less that two hours from the Bayfield/Apostle Islands area. There are three casinos are less than an hour away (Bad River Casino, Northern Casino, and Lake of the Torches Casino).

Your location puts you within 5 minutes of the local hospital, Walmart, grocery store, and gas stations, but no where near the hustle and bustle of highways and crowds.

A short walk down the hill will bring you to the Black River Valley Crossing and a good fishing spot.

As a bonus you are about 100 yards away from the highly-rated Black River Valley Pub. A local eatery since 1978 open 4 evenings a week featuring one of the best fish frys in the area with the largest variety of fish entrees within 40 miles, along with prime rib on Saturday nights. During the winter ski season there is usually live entertainment on Fridays and/or Saturdays in the evening.

We're dog friendly and look forward to having you stay with us!

Tiny House

The Tiny House was perfect for our family. It was affordable and the perfect location for skiing at Big Powderhorn and Wolverine Trails. It had a really well put together kitchen with everything you need. Beds and lines adequate and the house was clean if a little quirky. This trip was during the winter. The house was warmand cozy and we loved the heated floors. We also appreciated the WiFi and books and games. Thanks for a great stay!

A Lovely Little Escape

This cute little cabin is the perfect getaway. It is close enough to town that you have access to any goods you might need with a short drive but out of the way enough that the lake and various hiking trails are close by.

Great little stay in a great little house

We had a great time in the Black River Retreat! I had intended to ski at Big Powderhorn, which is very close to the cabin, but unfortunately they ended their season early. Luckily for me Snowriver was still open and is still only a short drive away, but I am glad I booked here rather than someplace closer to Snowriver. It is a fairly small cabin; probably not big enough for more than one couple alone or with only young kids, but it is cozy, clean, and comfortable. The internet was also surprisingly fast (use the 5G, not the 2G for best speeds). We didn't have time to enjoy the firepit, but it was a nice setup that I would have loved to try out if we had stayed another day or two. The only complaint I had is that the color of the ceiling in the loft made it a bit hard to judge distance in low light, which caused a couple head bumps at my height. However, my dislike for turning lights on if I can avoid it is also to blame there, so I can't be too upset about it. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back for another ski trip or a summer visit to the parks.

Retired from the Chicago area in 2013. Bought the cabin next door in 2010 and moved up here in 2013.

Why they chose this property

Always enjoyed the small town feel and the rural setting. Own and live in the cabin next door, and when this property became available in 2017 purchased it as a guest house for family and friends. Now want to share this relaxing lifestyle and area with others.

What makes this property unique

Quiet peaceful nights, star gazing, sitting around the campfire after a day of fishing, skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, etc.
Plus all the modern conveniences of home in a relaxing setting.
Even rainy days can be fun for the family bonding over a board game around the dining room table.
