Great, short getaway after Christmas, but the house shows some wear beyond just the usual hodge-podge quirkiness of a beach rental.Lots of positives: The bed mattresses were super comfortable. The house had all amenities as described. Large kitchen for such a small house. Great having a washer/dryer available to use in the house. Short walk to beach.Just a couple of issues:- Back of house with the two bunk beds, washer/dryer, and second bathroom (with the shower) were not well heated (too separated from the living room furnace). Wouldn't be an issue in the summer, but is one for the wintertime (although we didn't use the bunk beds).- Blinds in the main bedroom (king bed) were broken (louvers would not close all the way). As a result, we had to use a blanket to cover the window for privacy and to block the flashing Christmas lights from house the next door. Shared this with the property manager who was not aware these were broken, but they said they would address this after our stay.
wonderful little place for your family & pets. the yard was perfect. While it wasn't super close to the down town area, it didn't really matter. The not so secret hidden gem of this property is the public beach access at the end of 12th street. Amazing and very private, we loved it!
We had a great visit. 2 blocks from beach and outdoor shower was awesome for family that likes to surf! We appreciated being able to bring our dog as well. Nice to have a backyard! Thanks. We will be back!
Overall, things were great. The house was very cute (just as the photos showed) and the location was fabulous (close to the freeway, walking distance to the beach, and a short ride into town). Not giving it 5 stars for the following reasons: while the house was generally clean, I expected the house to be extremely clean given the inflated cleaning fee that each guest is charged. All of the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers were dirty on the outside by the handles, as were the bedroom, bathroom, and front and back doors by knobs. There were cobwebs in the kitchen and back bathroom. The plastic kitchen tablecloth was also dirty & sticky. In addition, the front door, back door, and rear bathroom doors were extremely loud when opened & closed. Luckily, we had some WD-40 & resolved the issues. Finally, the fire pit tank did not have any gas. Like I said, minor things. The decor, size, and location made up for the small things. Would definitely go back.
We had a lovely time enjoying Christmas with our family at “our” little beach house. Quite easy walking to the beach and into the town of Cayucos. Our dog appreciated the fact that the cottage was pet friendly. Cute spot! Thank you for the memories!
My husband and I met up with another couple. We live in Los Angeles area and they live in Fresno area. Cayucos was a perfect place to reconnect and have a wonderful time together.
The property is located within 2 blocks of the beach. It is comfortable and quiet. Be sure to get instructions from the property manager on how to use the big TV in the front room. We had to reset it by unplugging it, then plugging it back in when it wouldn't come on. The TV tuner is located at HDMI1.
WiFi worked well. Takes awhile to get hot water in the kitchen and front bathroom. The next door neighbor doesn't appreciate it if you leave the porch light on at night. The property managers were great. They quickly responded to the few requests we had. We would stay in the property again.
This was our third trip to Cayucos, but our first not staying right on the beach. We had a hard time trying to find a place that was located on the beach that wasn't crazy expensive, but we really wanted to make our now annual trip to Cayucos. This place didn't have a lot of reviews, but the price was right, and we were a little disappointed not staying right on the beach. However, this ended up being great anyway. Not being on the beach allowed us to rent a place with a yard that was perfect for our dog, and also ended up being way more quiet, less windy, and generally more private. After the stay we agreed that, although the view would be nice, this place is so close to the beach all the other benefits ended up making up for the lack of view.
The check-in was pretty standard, go get your keys at the rental office. When we walked in it was clear that the place is taken care of: it was clean, and organized, and everything looked great. It was bigger than we were expecting and the appliances looked newer. My kids initially used the bunkbeds but they felt they were too small, so they shared the other bedroom without complaint.
We didn't use the shared bathtub for our baths, we used the shower in the back, which I did read some complaints about. No issue for us. I'm not sure why a shower curtain couldn't be installed, but, it was not an issue in any way.
The fireplace out back was nice, and we used it most nights. The previous tenants looked like they turned the gas on and left it running to drain the tank out, so we had to buy a refill. The directions said we had to pay for any gas we used, but since the tank was empty, not really sure how that was supposed to work. Either way, we refilled the tank at a local store (or swapped I should say). I would assume the place would come with full tanks, but, I'm not discounting stars or even saying its an issue. But something to be aware of. Same with the BBQ.
The beach was about a 5 min walk down the street. Not an issue. And that short of a distance really did cut down on the wind and the temp was slightly warmer.
We will definitely return to this property.
My only complaints, which I haven't deducted any points for: There was no hand soap in the property. The last tenant filled up the empty ones with water to extend what they had. There was only 2 extra rolls of toilet paper, and I don't think any paper towels. And the previously mentioned propane. Easy enough to solve.
This was such a clean place to stay with walkable access to the beach - perfect for a family with young kids! We went to the beach twice a day. There was an issue with the washer but the rental agency was so kind and responsive. Would stay here again!
Adorable beach house with plenty of amenities in this peaceful and charming beach side town. All the basics provided (coffee maker, Keurig, basic spices, baggies, foil, etc). Backyard spacious with BBQ and fire pit for sitting outside at night. Best part is one block from beach and walking distance to restaurants and pier. Neighbors were always friendly. Management company was very accommodating.

Good Location to the beach
We had a good time. Great place to take your dogs, nice big back yard for dogs and gathering with family and friends. Good size kitchen. First time in renting a property in which I was asked to replace the paper products and cleaning supplies, I was not prepared for that. Bunk beds off kitchen were in a very small tight space.
My family really enjoyed our stay in Cayucos. It was an easy walk to the beach and a quick drive to downtown. The street is quiet. Nice fenced in yard for our miniature schnauzer. In the evenings we would open the living room windows and listen to the waves while we read.
