This beautiful cabin has so many options at your finger tips of activities around the house and property or within Ashley National Forest. The valley the cabin sits in is considered "The Gateway to Granddaddy Lake Trailhead", a popular trail hike for people and horses, the trail continues on to many other trails and lakes in the High Uinta's. There are many more hikes and horseback riding trails right from the front door along the North Fork River and a mile hike to a small 8ft waterfall from the cabin up a beautiful side valley following Swift Creek, pine trees and Aspens. The famous North Fork River for fishing or tubbing, passes the house within walking distance and meets up with a bigger river, Duchesne River in Hanna for river fishing. West Fork is only a mile from North Fork for more fishing and outdoor fun. We will let you know where our secret swim hole and zip line is on the North Fork River, just a stretch of the legs by the cabin when you check in. Only street legal vehicles are allowed in this valley that has 3 camp grounds, Aspen, Castle Cliff Campground, Hades, and Iron Mine, but if you enjoy 4 wheeling, 100's of miles of trails in the High Uinta's, right off Wolf Creek Pass, West Fork, and East Fork, are just a 10 minute trailer ride away. Along with trails to Castle Rock and Still Water Dam (in East Fork). Street legal Razors are allowed to leave right from the property to 100's of miles of mountain trails. There is also a turn off in Hanna, just 10 minutes the other way, that takes you to 4 wheeler trails to the top of Castle Rock where you get a view of Hades Lake and our valley, or take the trails to Still Water Dam, all are located with in Ashley National Forest. Starvation Lake is a 45 minute drive from the cabin and is great for all boating activities. It also has a nice beach area and rentals of all sorts for fun on the lake. We enjoy Starvation, because its not as busy as other Utah lakes. Bring all of your toys because there is something to do with them all year round, bikes, horses, fishing poles, tubes, 4 wheelers, Razors, hiking shoes, etc. So many trails from the cabin, North Fork, West Fork, Wolf Creek Pass, East Fork and Stillwater Dam. Bring your boat to the cabin and trailer the boat to Starvation Res State Park (little Lake Powell). it is beautiful and less crowded than any other of the Utah lakes and only 46 miles from the cabin.

The property itself is on 3 acres, the house is 3000 sq ft, with an extra 1300 sq ft of outdoor decking living space with an outdoor fire place on the deck. The house overlooks Swift Creek (seasonal creek that runs year round based on mountain snow pack) that runs through the property and makes a beautiful waterfall sound. If swift Creek happens to be dry, you can hear the larger North Fork River from the house too. The cabin has a nice size fire pit with bench seating, its just steps away from the front door. North Fork, where the cabin is nestled, is a beautiful valley with mountains that have beautiful rock formations and cliffs, Lightning Ridge, Castle Rock, and Stone Face to name a few. The cabin has a wonderful master suite with an extra deep soaker tub. Master has its own walk out deck. Large loft with pool table, loft has its own walk out deck with amazing views of valley and river. 2 bedrooms on main floor with 1 bathroom. Open concept main living area and kitchen. Walk out basement with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and family room. A smart 65 inch flat screen set up just for watching DVD movies. Wireless Internet is provided and cell phone reception is great. In the valley there is Defa's Dude Ranch about 1.5 miles away that offers horseback riding, cafe, and saloon. Bedrooms in the cabin, master has a king bed, in-suite bathroom with walk in shower, double sinks, and soaker tub that has an amazing view of Lightning Ridge. Main floor has 2 bedroom, one with a king bed, the other bedroom has a queen bed with 2 twin. There is a main floor bathroom with a tub/shower. Lower floor has a bunk room with 1 queen bed, and 3 twin. Bunk room also has a walk out porch. Family room has a full bunk bed with 1 full mattress and a full futon. The lower level also has a full bath with tub/shower. The decking outside is covered so it can be enjoyed rain or shine. There are lots of outdoor living space with outdoor furniture and tables. There is a Treagar Smoker and propane grill to use to help enhance your outdoor experience. A wonderful 360* views off the wraparound decking of mountains, rock cliff formations, rivers, pines and aspens plus wild life everywhere. Great Utah mountain vacation

We stayed at this house for a bachelorette party, exceeded all of our expectations. A lot to do in the area, also hanging out at the house with friends with the great views were great! Best stocked vrbo we have ever stayed in. The owners were very responsive with any questions. I would highly suggest for a relaxing weekend!

Awesome Cabin In Beautiful Country

I highly recommend booking this cabin! The views are incredible and it's the perfect place to spend time with family or friends! We stayed for 3 nights and absolutely enjoyed our time up there. We sat by the fire every night, explored a few places near the cabin, did some fishing, riding and relaxed. We loved the adventure board that's in the cabin that shows detailed information on some really neat places that are nearby! Julie, the owner, was great to work, and the communication was outstanding. She did a fantastic job in relaying information ahead of our arrival and was very accommodating!

Fun Family Vacation

We had such a good time at this cabin! The scenery was breathtaking. The hummingbirds, chipmunks and squirrels were entertaining. We played lots of pool, hiked around and played cards. We swam at the swimming hole and zip lined into the swimming hole. We made many memories! The cabin had everything we needed!

Amazing Cabin and Location

We greatly enjoyed our time at this cabin. The views around the cabin were stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. The air smelled so good and it was fun watching all the birds. There are multiple decks to enjoy all the views!! Everything worked well and the beds were very comfortable. The Traeger Grill was our favorite part. We ended up buying one for ourselves when we returned home. Thank you so much!!

Will book again

I’ve never stayed in Ashley National Forest, but will return soon and book this cabin. Similar beauty to neighboring Uintas, just without crowds. The cabin was comfortable with loads of outdoor patio space on all sides to hide from the hot sun. Plenty to do onsite with billiards, board games, fire pit and more. Our favorite spot was a quick one minute drive to the water hole with the zip line cable. The kids loved tubing down the creek. The host provided all necessary float tubes and helpfully has an entire information center of things to do nearby. We can’t wait to come back next Summer.

Amazing

A true gem of a find in Ashley National Forest. The property has plenty of space - activities to keep all age ranges happy. We loved the Adventure board you put together! And we’re able to enjoy a few activities off of it. After a long day, we enjoyed making our meals in the very well stocked kitchen, and we used the smoker and grill! At nights we enjoyed the fire pit and the sounds of the creek that runs right by. We made such amazing memories and really are talking about coming back. Thank you so much again, for sharing your beautiful slice of heaven with strangers!! It will be something we talk about for a lifetime.

So peaceful!

We absolutely loved this cabin! The cabin itself had ample room for our party of 11 and extra pillows and blankets which was much appreciated. It was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was so functional and had everything we needed. We just loved all the wildlife watching we did, birds, deer, cows, prairie dogs... my kids loved it! We also loved how close the water recreation all is. The fire pit was a hit, and so was the movie library downstairs. Julie, the Owner, was so kind and answered all my questions. She was such a pleasure to work with and helped me whenever I needed something. Wonderful cabin, wonderful Owner, wonderful experience!

Beautiful Cabin

The inside of the cabin was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We just brought food, personal belongings and toys. Our family ranged from 4 to 79 years old and there was something to entertain everyone. There are lots of stairs so that would be the only hiccup for some of the older folks. We explored almost everything on the map and made lots of memories. I would suggest finding out more details for the hike to the waterfall and the hot spots for fishing and 4 wheeling from the property owners before you go. I would recommend for couples, girls' weekend and family vacation!

The views can’t be beat!

We LOVED our stay at the LRR! First, the owner Julie was great! Very easy to get ahold of for any questions we had. Second, the views from every single space in this house are incredible. I live in Utah and have spent a lot of time in the mountains, but these were extraordinary! Neighbors are not close by and the setting is very tranquil. Our kids are 17, 14, and 6 and each one found ways to entertain themselves. The bunk room was perfect for them, and since they were all together we didn’t worry at all being 2 stories above them. We also had grandparents with us and they were happy! Kitchen was well appointed. Bathrooms had plenty of towels and nice shampoo etc. And the beds were so comfortable!! We will absolutely be back!

Friends, Family, and Beautiful Scenery

2 families of 5 were able to enjoy this home together. The kids were in love with the board games (crazy, right?). We played outdoor games on the wonderful side lawn. We enjoyed the swimming hole, even though it was a longer "hike" with gear than we would have liked. The home was set up and decorated in such a way that all of us just felt comfortable! It was fabulous! The owner was great to work with. She sent a message the day before giving information that we needed. She was quick with repsonses via phone or VRBO messages. Definitely worth a stay! Thank you for being so great to work with!

nicer than pictured and described

We all felt that the pictures and description didn't really do this cabin justice. It's such a restful, peaceful, very well furnished and cared for home in a stunningly beautiful setting (with huge windows all directions to see the mountains all around). The chipmunks, squirrels, quokka? and different kinds of birds were a delight to have around (the owner feeds them so they come!). There was quite enough room for my parents, my sister, my husband and myself to find a quiet place or be comfortably together. The sound of the stream on the property was a special part of the serenity. We are already planning our next stay! The owner was very responsive and helpful when we had questions and check in and out were easy. We cooked every night and had everything we needed for dishes, pots & pans, food storage. Thank you so much, Julie!

A Gem In The Mountains of Hanna

This cabin is nestled in the most beautiful place. Gorgeous 360 degree views from the wrap around porch. An abundance of wildlife outside every door. The cabin is equipped with everything you might think you need to bring. We enjoyed the swimming hole and ventured out to Starvation Reservoir for an afternoon. Julie and family have gone above and beyond with all of the extras they have provided for outdoor play (canoes, tubes, roasting sticks, camp chairs, chopped wood, a grill and a smoker) just to name a few. Sadly the Dude Ranch wasn’t open for horseback riding while we were here, but we plan to try again next time 😊 The five days we stayed was just not enough time to take everything in. Thank you so much Julie for providing us with a special place to be with family and celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary!

So Beautiful & Relaxing! (Perfectly secluded, but everything you need!)

We honestly LOVED our stay here. Our family was looking for a chance to go somewhere where we could relax, bond, and still enjoy normal conveniences, but be away from everything. This was it. We played games, used the fireplace and the firepit, let hummingbirds land on our fingers, napped in the breeze that was always there, hiked along the river, slept in, cooked good food, watched movies, rented razors and went on some of the most beautiful trails you can imagine. Our favorite was the trip from the cabin to the Upper Still Water Dam (and Reservoir), but we went through Wolf Creek Pass, Soapstone, and more. We loved seeing the cows (and their baby cows!). We did family pool tournaments. It was so easy to get in touch with the owner when needed. Very responsive! The convenience of emptying our cars into the garage at the driveway where it was cool, and then go from there was great. There were zero bugs near the cabin, and there was a constant breeze. The cabin has good internet (if needed), so there was no issue with staying in touch, making plans, or fine tuning your routes, etc. We seriously just scratched the surface, and we were there for a WEEK! Like I said, this cabin made it possible to relax, and removed so much of the work that goes into the process of relaxing! We're hoping to come back again!

Amazing stay

We can't say enough good things about this place and about Julie. From beginning to end our stay was amazing. When we first arrived our GPS couldn't find the cabin location and she instantly passed along her phone number so we could call her and find our way. Every time I had a question she was quick to answer or help out in any way she could. The cabin and property were exactly as stated on VRBO, to be honest even better. It's so beautiful and the views are breathtaking. All the beds were extremely comfortable and the house in general had everything we could possibly need or want. Most of our time was spent outdoors and my son instantly noticed the prairie dogs and enjoyed watching them play during our stay. ***Hint*** if you sit on the swings on lower level and are real quiet they don't notice you and will come out in the grass just a few feet from you. Prairie dogs arent the only wildlife you'll see however. Tons of birds, including hummingbirds, visit the property. We were lucky enough to see a young moose one morning as well as a badger, lots of deer and of course the free range cows. While we didn't actually see one, there were also plenty of mountain lion footprints not far from the property. If you walk to the falls you are sure to see them. So if you have any trackers in the family its a great place to look around. Speaking of the falls, its definitely worth the hike. Beautiful place to sit and listen to the water and let your kids explore. Face rock is also quite a neat place for the kids to roam around. We didn't have a chance to visit the swimming hole as it was actually quite cold, especially for us Texans, while we were there. There was even snow on the mountain tops one morning. But for us it was a nice break from the heat. If you're looking to eat out there is a little Cafe in Hanna and I belive there is a resturant at the ranch down the road, though we didn't visit there. The cafe however had good food and was very friendly. As far as groceiries there is a tiny convenience store in Hanna and while they were also super friendly they don't have much. I'd be sure to shop prior to getting to the cabin. Park City is about an hour and twenty minutes from the cabin and was a fun day trip for those looking to browse shops. We truly have not a single bad thing to say about our stay. Everything was perfect and it was exactly what we were hoping for...a little peace and quiet to recharge our batteries and reconnect with eachother.

Best VRBO ever!

Oh my gosh...this was THE.BEST.VACATION.RENTAL! We have never stayed in a rental that was so well stocked. It had everything! We brought up a bunch of spices, ziploc bags, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, etc. And we wouldn't have needed any of it! It literally was a home away from home! Perfect sleeping arrangements, included all the extras (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). We didn't use the tubes or kayaks but they were available. The firepit with bench seating (& roasting sticks), camp chairs, plenty of outdoor seating/picnic tables, and yard games added so much fun to our stay! Would HIGHLY recommend this place. So beautiful and so much to do. We went horseback riding at Defa's ranch, hiked to Grand Daddy lake and played in the river a bit. The stars were incredible. It was truly heaven! Hoping to get back there again!

About the host

Hosted by Julie Martin-Stevenson

Host profile image
We purchased the land in 2003 because we fell madly in love with the valley. But our cabin was just finished the fall of 2018, and still needs some finishing work. We waited a long time to build the cabin but our family have had many a fabulous time on the land and we find the area enchanting and we can't wait to share it.

Why they chose this property

So much to do in the area. You have a feeling of being far away on vacation and yet you're only 1.45 hours from Salt Lake City.

What makes this property unique

There aren't many properties that can boast being surrounded by a National Forest. So many activities all with in minutes of the cabin. The valley the cabin sits in is absolutely gorgeous and unlike anywhere.
