About this property

Freebird Lodge: Weekly -10%! Sleeps 24 in Beds! By Pool! Near Trails! Fire Pit!

Welcome to Freebird Lodge in Nemo, SD - a veteran-owned cozy spot in the heart of the Black Hills. It's the perfect place to stay if you love nature and adventure. You're right where you need to be for hiking, trout fishing, cave exploring, ATV trail riding, rock climbing, star gazing, and bird watching. Nemo is also full of history, with Native American sites and museums nearby. Plus, you're close to stunning lakes for boating and swimming, and famous sights like Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial.

In the summer, our guests love our private 40-foot heated saltwater pool and the rec room next to the Osprey pool house. The rec room has a pool table, foosball, and an infrared sauna - open from June to August, 11am-5pm.

The skies here are amazing. During the day, watch the eagles and other birds under the bright sun and blue skies. At night, it's all about the stars and the Milky Way, shining bright without city lights to hide them. It's truly a beautiful, peaceful place.

Freebird Lodge is a 6500 square foot luxury home with everything you need. We have three big suites - the Eagle, the Heron, and the Mountain Blue Bird - and we can host up to 24 guests. The lodge has two levels, a lovely cedar deck, and lots of comfy places to relax. Each suite has its own kitchen, dining room, living room, fireplace, laundry, and at least one full bathroom. Our guests always say it's luxurious, well-equipped, and super clean.

Come make lifetime memories at Freebird Lodge!

Here's a tour of the suites...

Welcome to the Eagle Grand Suite at our lodge!

This suite is a real treat, named after a pair of eagles that spend winters nearby. As soon as you step inside, you'll see a stunning foyer with a beautiful chandelier. The great room is framed with shiny blond logs and has a big, cozy mossy-rock fireplace.

The suite is big and bright, with high ceilings and lots of windows. It's got a comfy living area, a dining space, and a fancy kitchen with everything a chef or butler might need. It's perfect for hanging out and making memories.

The Eagle Suite is top-notch for a holiday stay. It has two big bedrooms with super comfortable queen beds, chairs, and love seats. Each room has a Smart TV and soft carpet.

The main bathroom is like a mini-spa, with a jacuzzi tub, a walk-in shower, and lots of space. The double sink is set in lovely cherry cabinets, leading to a big walk-in closet.

There's more to explore in this suite, like a special area for puzzles or board games, a closet full of books and games, and even a central vacuum system to keep things tidy. The laundry room has a washer, dryer, and all the cleaning stuff you might need.

Staying in the Eagle Grand Suite is all about luxury and comfort. It's not just a place to sleep - it's a place to feel truly spoiled and relaxed.

Welcome to the Heron Grand Suite!

This suite is named after a pair of herons that love to fish in our stream. It's a peaceful and elegant space. When you walk through the French doors, you'll see high ceilings, modern gray floors, and beautiful teak wood touches, all in soothing colors.

The Heron Suite is all about luxury and fun. It has a great kitchen for cooking, a cozy table for meals, and a handy laundry room.

There are two big bedrooms, each super comfy with two queen beds, lounge chairs, and plenty of space for your things. One room even has a full-sized couch for extra relaxation.

The suite has lovely lighting and beautiful linens in creams, turquoise, and touches of red and black. Each room has its own style, like the western cowgirl room with cool vintage chairs and artwork.

The bedrooms and the main room all open up to the deck, so you can easily go from inside luxury to enjoying the outdoors. Outside, there are two hanging bench/swings to relax on and look over the lawn. For fun, play corn hole or volleyball right outside, with benches for friends to watch and cheer.

Staying in the Heron Grand Suite is more than just a place to sleep; it's a special destination with the perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and luxury.

Welcome to the Mountain Bluebird Grand Suite!

This suite is named after the beautiful bluebirds that visit us in summer. Located in the north wing of the Lodge, it offers stunning views of Nemo Mountain through its big windows. Inside, you'll find a spacious area with a kitchen, dining area, and living room. There are also two big bedrooms, each with two queen beds, and a full bathroom. For entertainment, each bedroom has a smart TV, and there's a large TV in the living room.

The suite opens onto a deck shared with the Eagle suite. Here, you can enjoy an outdoor Yukon fire pit and a cozy area for hanging out and chatting.

The furniture in the suite is unique, with mid-century modern pieces found by the owner across the country. The art is lovely, featuring scenes of animals in nature, adding to the calm and natural feel of the suite. The lighting is modern and includes some really special, one-of-a-kind pieces.

The Mountain Bluebird Grand Suite is a mix of comfort, style, and nature. It's a peaceful and luxurious place to stay.

Nemo Lodge Ranch
My family along with 3 other couples traveled in to Nemo for the first week of Sturgis. From the moment we booked this incredible property, Bruce was prompt in answering any questions I had. Then we walked in to what may be the cleanest VRBO we have ever stayed in. And I mean immaculately clean. From bedding, to towels, to kitchen, bathrooms, floors. Spotless. The property then extended down to a gorgeous pool that is attached to a sweet little game room. Lots of pool floats and swim diapers available. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you may need to include crockpots. We were so impressed Bruce and Terri. Thank you thank you thank you!

The Lodge at Nemo
The views and vistas are spectacular. Appliances and cookware are top notch. Showers and bathroom amenities are luxurious. 3 and 1/2 bathrooms for 24 people was inadequate.

A peaceful vacation spot.
Lovely ranch. The kitchen was well equipped but we were looking for some 9/13 pans for baking. The right front burner should be looked at as the flame shoots up. The layout of the bedrooms is a bit odd, and it seems strange to share such a lovely master bath with another couple. However, we had so much fun together in the home sitting on the beautiful front porch and the comfy back deck, and enjoying the fire pit. We are sure that anyone who rents this home will enjoy it as much as we did.
