The Fish Camp.

The house is very nice and up to date. Nice appliances in the kitchen and a tankless water heater so plenty of hot water. Nice bathroom’s .The dock is newer and caught Redfish at nighttime.Nice location the Dollar Store right up the road is nice.I would stay again for sure.

Great family getaway

Rick is great and the house is perfect. We bought seafood from fishermen off the dock and cooked each night. Great place for a quiet stay away from the city. We hope to come back soon.

We enjoyed our stay on the bayou. We watched the shrimp boats go by and enjoyed fishing off the deck. We cannot wait to come back.

Paradise on The Bayou

The camp was picture perfect. Rick has it decorated to perfection, yet it feels cozy and comfortable. If you love to fish or just enjoy the quietness of sitting in the swing watching the water go by this the place! The host is easily accessible (even if he is the woods of North Ms.) to answer any questions that come up. This was my first start here but definitely not my last.

Slice of heaven on the bayou!

A perfect place to stay directly on the bayou in a nice friendly neighborhood. We enjoyed fishing right off the deck. The house was beautiful and had all the accommodations needed! The host was great and answered all our questions promptly! Will definitely be back for another perfect weekend!

Family time

Had the best time with my family at the camp. The place was unbelievable, it was so pretty and well decorated. The outside was just as nice, my grandson love fishing off the docks and so did I. We didn’t catch any big fish but we caught a lot of catfish, crrokers,garfish and crabs. I lived sitting on the porch in the morning drinking my coffee with the nice breeze. Mr. Rick was so nice and helpful, he made sure we had everything we needed. I couldn’t have asked for anything better, we liovedit so much, we are already looking forward to our next trip there.

Peaceful

I just needed somewhere to relax shut off and feel at ease. This property certainly did that for me. Lovely and clean relaxed rooms . Lovely nieghbours and perfect for out the way escape but easy to drive to places from.

Amazing stay on the bayou!

Our family of 5 stayed for a week to enjoy warm weather, fishing and good food. We had it all and so much more! Thank you to Mr. Rick for providing this beautiful camp that accommodated our family and was extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed to make it feel like home. We will definitely be coming back!

Totally Happy

We have rented a VRBO in Feb for at least 15 years. Every year we rented in a new location, but this is the second year we've rented this house. Rick is the best host of any property we've stayed in, hands down. The house is a dream...clean and fresh, updated, nicely set up, and RIGHT ON the BAYOU. Literally. The people in the area are terribly nice...friendly, helpful, fun, kind. We can never get enough of the local seafod...oysters (the half shell oysters were the best we've ever had this year), shrimp, crab, crawdads...usually from a restaurant in Houma, previously the national Oyster capitol, which is about 20 minutes north. This year we tried grilled oysters and were WOWED. We also ate an amazing buffalo shrimp poboy at the local Duges, and of course the whole area features gumbo and jambalaya. We had to go to the Quarter for Muffaletta sandwiches, but got tickets to Preservation Hall while we were there. N.O. is just about 1.5 hours and an easy trip. This is a wonderful place to sit back, fish, unwind, and enjoy a lovely sunset beyond the bayou.

Great location, awesome host!

We cannot say enough great things about this property. The property was exactly as listed, and minutes away from all of the area’s prime fishing locations. Caught more fish off the dock at the back of the camp than anywhere else. Richard was incredible with communications and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I had exactly what we needed for a successful trip. Bait and timing recommendations on point. The property was very clean and welcoming, with anything you could need provided. We’ll be planning another trip soon and will 100% be returning. Thank you, Rick, for your hospitality!

Great Little House!

Lovely old home with a fresh complete remodel inside. Two large bedrooms and two large bathrooms with roomy living room and kitchen. Well accommodated while keeping the charm of a old house with high ceilings and wood floors. Directly on a canal with large deck, covered porch and covered carport. Great place to stay! We will definitely be back!

Birthday weekend

This house was sooo beautiful and amazing!!! It’s like a home away from home. I really didn’t want to leave. Very clean, neat and organized! Check in and check out was very easy. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and fishing from the pier. Mr Richard answered our questions pretty quickly. Very nice quiet neighborhood. We will definitely be back!! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in this area!!! Thank you Mr Richard for allowing us to stay !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pefect little camp

Stayed a few days for a job in the area. This was a perfect place to relax after a day of work. House is basically all new on inside with new appliances and furniture. Will stay again if in the area. Only complaint is the key box could be updated. Its kinda tricky but thats a non issue really.

Perfect

Stayed for two week work trip. House is all new inside. Very clean, nice decor, and the back porch is a fishing pier. We enjoyed evenings after work sitting on the back deck fishing and unwinding with cold beverages. Priced right to split three ways. Theres even a Piggly wiggly grocery store about 5 mins away as well as a dollar store for those forgotten items. Ill be staying again if im in that part of the country again. Host was easy to contact and helped any way he could.

Seafood Heaven

property was great, had fresh crabs delivered right to the doc from a local fisherman. Live Crawfish and fresh Shrimp are just down the street. We had a wonderful time.

Great place for fishing

We had a great time right on the bayou, fishing right from the pier. The house was nicely decorated, very clean, well equipped kitchen and the beds were comfortable. If you’re really into fishing, go on a chartered tour with the captain recommended by the house owner. He picked us up right in front of the house.

Great home in quiet location

This house is ideal for a relaxing stay, with fishing literally right out the back door, and the owner is the perfect host. The house itself is in excellent condition, clean and nicely furnished, and the porch and deck on the bayou are a pleasure. Rick, the owner, is easy to contact with questions and responds quickly. He's also pretty funny. The area is quiet. Montagut (pronounced Monague for those of us northerners who aren't familiar with the dialect) is very small with a convenience store/gas station, post office, and of course, bar. But nearby Chauvin has everything else you need, and larger Houma has larger stores, restaurants, a visitor center, small museums, and other places of interest to travelers. One thing I found particularly noteworthy. All over the south locals boast about how friendly they are, and about southern hospitality. It's ACTUALLY TRUE in Montagut and Chauvin. We felt it everywhere we went and with everyone we talked to.

We grew up on the bayous but as adults we moved away. This is our personal fishing camp which we remodeled in 2018 to make our home away from home. It was reported built in 1900 but you can't tell that now. She's a beaut. Our busy lifestyle doesn't allow us to go often at this time so we share it with others who long for a real "Down the Bayou" experience. Le Sha'Teaux is in the heart of real cajun country, surrounded by real fishing community families. The back porch is our favorite spot. We sit on the porch swing for hours on end. In the winter we catch speckled trout and redfish under the light on the dock in historic Bayou Terrebonne. The rest of the year is bass, freshwater cat fish and perch. We are only a two mile boat ride to Humble Canal, which is direct access to amazing saltwater fishing, shrimping and crabbing. It's only seven miles to Bush Canal and another short boat ride to Cocodrie. It's a 5-10 minute drive to the Island Road in Pointe Aux Chien (which is famous for crabbing from the roadside).

Immediately next door is a new concrete boat launch with ample parking. All guests are welcome to use the launch. Later in the year, our satsuma and peach trees are full of fruit and should be enjoyed by our guests. Fish are readily available to be caught all year long. The only thing we ask is that no one fry inside of our home. No smoking. No pets.
