What can I say about this property? It was just what our family needed! The cabin was a beautiful place to lay our heads after a day of hiking, swimming and fishing. The magical view and the sound of the loons at night was breathtaking. The lake water was warm, perfect for jumping off the dock and swimming. My kids caught fish and loved every minute of it. Ricky and his wife are sweet and gave us some great recommendations. We hope to be back to this corner of the country again !
Owner is great! Lots of pride in ownership of this property. The entire place is immaculate.
Great place to stay for summer vacation, fall foliage, Fryeburg fair, etc. Nearly perfect. Beautiful pond. Not too far off the beaten path.
Only minor drawbacks IMO are ; a little road noise from across the pond can be heard if the windows are open. The neighbors are within 100-150 ft. Neither of which would prevent me from returning.
Overall, it’s a great rental.
I recommend enthusiastically.
The Little Red Cabin was the perfect spot for an end-of-summer retreat. It had everything that we needed from kitchen equipment, comfy bed, and internet access to peaceful solitude, a chorus of loons and a heavenly lake for swimming. The slope of the hill down to the lake was a challenge with arthritic knees but certainly doable. We ventured off site for some easy hiking and a scenic drive. Ricky, the host, was responsive to any and all questions. It was difficult to pack up and leave but we returned to reality relaxed and refreshed.
So clean and well kept. Efficient use of space. Has everything you need and nothing you don't. Our small family (one 9 year old) made good use of the single kayak, canoe, and firepit. Perfect spot to end the summer.
We had a wonderful week at Ricky’s camp on Bear Pond. Lake was beautiful and we spent the whole week swimming and grilling. We took some local hikes and spent a rainy day in nearby Bridgton. Our girls absolutely loved the loft. Ricky was an excellent host and we would recommend this to any family looking for a beautiful wooded lake life getaway in the heart of Maine.
Adorable cabin perched over the pond (small lake really) with all the amenities you'll need to thoroughly enjoy a stay in the spectacular Maine woods. Swim in the lake, hike the nearby trails, sleep in. Great stay, great host. Thanks!!
Perfect vacation in a beautiful cabin on the water. We spent the whole week immersed in bountiful nature on the shore of Bear Pond. The water was crystal clear and perfect for swimming .Viewed awesome sunsets, stars and space junk from the private dock. Swimming out to the raft and watching the harmless water spiders swim and scatter when you jumped into the refreshing water was awesome. The terrain is incredible with majestic tall pine trees growing on top of boulders roots wrapped around the big rocks that are covered with lush green moss. The air is fresh and crisp with the scent of pine and earth. We witness a summer lightning show in the safety of the cabin, truly intimidating but awesome. You have a beautiful view of Bear Mountains and surrounding foothills of the White Mountains .Plenty of wood for evening campfires and soaking in the sounds of boys having fun at a distance boys camp.We were treated with great fireworks that lite up the sky on Sunday from the camp. Our hosts Ricky and Kerri were friendly and respected our space. The cabin has a microwave/comfortable chairs and picnic table on the deck and TV we didn’t watch.Looking forward to booking another great week at the peaceful Red Cabin on Bear Pond. Also, rode around the roller coaster back roads and ventured to North Conway only to quickly turn around for ice cream hot fudge sundae’s at Mc Donald’s as soon as we entered the snail pace traffic on the main road.lol!
This place is immaculate. I very much enjoyed my stay. It was exactly as advertised
I very much enjoyed the peace and quiet that this location offered. Be sure to buy groceries before arriving as the nearest “real grocer” is about 30 minutes away. The lake is very clean and the owner provided plenty of campfire wood. The place and the property was clean as a whistle upon my arrival. There’s laundry machines and a full kitchen. I found the owner(s) to be friendly and interesting to talk with as well. Overall this is a place I could certainly see myself returning to visit again.
FIVE STARS!!
This property was everything we thought of and more. The lake was beautiful and the use of the canoe and kayak was a great! Ricky and Kerri were great and we would definitely stay again in a heartbeat.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Little Red Cabin. Having access to the dock, the raft and the canoe and kayak were key. We were out fishing, boating, swimming or hiking every day. The firepit was perfect. The cabin was clean and modern and had everything we needed (with the exception of a microwave) - would go back in a heartbeat. Beautiful spot!
This was a great stay at a quiet cabin overlooking the lake. We slept soundly here while getting away from it all. Rick is a great host and made sure we had whatever we needed to have a positive stay. Use of the kayak and canoe are a huge plus and saved us from the hassle of rental delivery or bringing our own. Stunning location just far enough off the beaten path but still within 10-20 minutes of good restaurants and a Hannaford's grocery store etc. The fire pit was well stocked with wood for our use so make sure to bring s'mores supplies. Phenomenal sunsets over the lake were a perfect way to end most evenings. Note that the stairs to the loft are a bit steep if that's a consideration, that wasn't an issue for any of our party. Great location for exploring everything from the White Mountains to the Maine coast or just staying put and enjoying the lake!
We chose Ricky’s cabin for some R&R away from our home in Boston and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The house was exactly like the pictures and was spotless. We so enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the lake, making campfires, and hiking on the nearby trails. We cooked almost every night of the week and the kitchen had everything we needed and more (I think I saw a fondue set in a cabinet!) Heat and hot water were plentiful and the WiFi was fast enough for streaming movies. As a host, Ricky could not have been more communicative. Before we booked, he made sure we understood that Maine would be cold this time of year, and he checked in multiple times throughout the week. We ran into him at checkout and he gave us some great brewery recommendations for our stop in Portland on our drive home!
I love experiencing new cities and towns so I don’t often revisit places I’ve stayed before, but Ricky’s place is definitely an exception. I hope to come again in the summer to go swimming in that amazing lake, and in the winter to ski and snowshoe. If you’re on the fence, BOOK THIS CABIN. You will have the most amazing time!
We had a wonderful time at the little red cabin. The perfect location for a remote getaway. Beautiful cabin inside and out! We enjoyed the deck and grilling at night and we enjoyed swimming in bear pond during the day. We appreciated that there was a kayak and life vests for us to use and access to the water! We had a super time and plan to return next year!
We had the best week! We LOVED the cabin, the pond, EVERYTHING! The spot is beautiful and peaceful and being on the pond (with kayak, canoe and floating dock) was so fun! There was absolutely no reason to leave. We were sorry to see the week come to an end. Thank you to Ricky for the hospitality! This was a true treat!
My husband and I stayed at the Little Red Cabin for two nights over Labor Day 2019 as we were in the area for a friend's wedding. This is a cute and cozy property on a quiet lake. Although we didn't cook there, the house is well stocked with dishware, pots, coffee maker, BBQ, etc. It's also stocked with games aplenty and has a relatively good internet connection given the area. Nearby is Norway and Bridgeton which both offer good restaurants and shopping. The owner is super easy to work with and was flexible about our travel arrangements. If you want a secluded place to get away from it all, this is the place!
The is a gem! A bit remote but on a beautiful pond/lake that is clean and beautiful. The cabin is great - clean and comfortable. The loft is spacious - you need to be nimble to get up/down the ladder, but worth it. Owners live next door but far enough that this is still very private. It's own deck and dock. Use of canoe and kayaks. I highly recommend!!
We were only able to get away for a couple of days but had a wonderful time. This was a very special event for us which we will remember forever.
Ricky and family made our stay great.
We will be back.
