Wonderful vacation! Views absolutely gorgeous! Lots of wildlife. Owners great and showed up anytime needed. Got some wonderful pictures of a female moose that was in the neighborhood. After 30 beautiful days it was time leave. 😢 Didn’t want to go. Talkeetna is a quaint town. Restaurant Latitude 62 has the best King Crab legs! Yummy
This completely exceeded expectations! A week with pals from college days… two celebrated 70th birthdays while looking at “the” mountain! FANFREAKINTASTIC! Will we be back??… for sure! Loved the region… loved Talkeetna… loved the swans… loved the people (made friends!)… loved the WILD! Thanks for sharing this enchanting place!!
Far View Denali House is a comfortable, thoughtfully designed and well maintained home at the end of a dirt and gravel road about 1.5 miles off the Talkeetna Spur Road. My wife and I stayed there in July 2023 with our adult daughter and her two girls, who are 4 and 7. We had 4 days of "liquid sunshine" so appreciated the coziness of the cabin, including the wood stove and the plethora of games and toys to supplement those we had brought along. The girls particularly enjoyed the age appropriate scavenger hunt to find objects around the extensive property. We also appreciated the ground coffee in the nicely appointed kitchen on our first morning, before we had an opportunity to obtain our own provisions. The access road's intersection with the Spur Road is about 7 miles from downtown Talkeetna, affording ample opportunity for the many restaurants and activities on offer there in addition to just hanging out and enjoying quality family time at the cabin.
Traveled August 2022 with family of four. House has nice amount of space for a family and there would have been room for more guests. Each room had a bathroom which was nice. House with very nicely stocked kitchen. Beautiful views of Denali.
My wife and I stayed at this very nice house for 4 nights last week. The house has magnificent views of a beautiful lake and country side. Truly spectacular. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. You are about a 10-15 minute drive from Talkeeneta. We have Verizon and our phones and internet worked well. We highly recommend this rental for a relaxing getaway to enjoy the beautiful views.
Property is nice and very well equipped and well-stocked with everything you may need and much more.
The view is amazing
The owner is available and responsive
Oh, my...perfection comes to mind. Never have I seen such gorgeous views...from the decks, living rooms and bedrooms. My only problem with this place was that I was exhausted...I simply couldn't close my eyes on that view. (there were blinds, but that would have been just wrong!) I'd have stayed the entire time had I had the choice. The house is off the grid, but lacks nothing. First rate kitchen, furnishings and surroundings. We were ready to hike to the lake down below, until we watched a big black bear lumber across the field and then swim the lake to our side!! Just fantastic.
I would travel all the way from California just stay at this home. The view is great, lake is amazing, spacious decks, wells stocked kitchen, large space, clean, great hosts and close to so many adventures. Thank you for all the great memories.
The property was well maintained and clean. The place had everything you can need for comfortable stay. Great views from room decks and the main decks. The property is very secluded. We used the grill to cook steak and veggies as we arrived later in the evening and dining was not to be found in Talkeetna. We wish all the properties we stayed at during our trip to Alaska were as nice as this one.
This property is way off the road and off the grid, but is an awesome place to stay! The house is large with everything the description says and it seems like new! Bathroom for each bedroom plus a half bath made this so very comfortable for our party of six. The layout is such that it’s like a private space for each bedroom. The furniture and accessories are perfect for the area and the view and wildlife are spectacular! The kitchen is well furnished and has all basic needs plus extras! Stay here if you love Alaska and it’s views!
This was the perfect property to stay at for our trip to Talkeenta. The house was lovely and had all the creature comforts one would need. The biggest surprise that awaited us was the spectacular views from the deck! We spent most of our time outside enjoying the weather and the amazing view. I would definitely recommend staying here.

About the host
Hosted by Ken and Heidi Schulz
We, Ken and Heidi, moved to Alaska in 2009. We made many friends through our outdoor activities - hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and skiing. We are both originally from Nebraska although we have not lived there in over 30 years, but we both still have family there. One of our big communities in Alaska has been nordic skiing, our son got into racing while he was in high school. That eventually lead us to Talkeetna and the Oosik Ski race that is held in March every year. Over the years one think lead to another and now we have a beautiful property that we share with you.
Why they chose this property
Quite simply the views this property has to offer are breathtaking. There are views from the decks, the great room has warm views by the wood stove, and each bedroom has view. The mountains are a special treat when they allow you to see them, but even when they are hiding there is plenty to see. There are a constant supply of birds but our stars are a pair of Tundra Swans that have made this their summer home. They find a nest, lay eggs, then we feature the young swans (cygnets) that hatch about a month later. They spend the rest of the summer on the creek and lake until they are ready to fly away in October. Whenever you come there will be something to see.
What makes this property unique
We are two miles off the paved highway leading into Talkeetna, but when you drive those two miles you are at the end of the line, it goes no further. It feels like a remote property, the kind you have to take a float plane to get to. We are off the main power grid, we have a power system consisting of a generator, solar and batteries. Pretty much all the comforts of home. We are remote but still just ten minutes from Talkeetna and some great restaurants, a great combination when you don't feel like cooking.
