Captivating Interiors and Historic location, The Old Millhouse, we sleep 10 in the main house and two adults in our Mews Cottage (additional fees apply).

Up to three additional children are welcome who can share with parents in a folding bed (sharing rooms).

The Old Millhouse was originally built in 1703, we renovated the house in 2013. We can sleep up to Ten adults and three children.

New in 2025 our concierge service, we can help plan tours around Scotland , private chef for in-house dining and restaurant bookings in the city.

The House is just 20 minutes from Edinburgh and 25 mins from Edinburgh Airport .The Old Millhouse is a 5-bedroom, 5-bath property on landscaped acreage in the old market town of Dalkeith. We are infatuated with this home—which we lovingly restored from ruin in 2012—and think you will be, too.
Here are just a few of the experiences to which you and your group of 10 can treat yourselves:
· Sink into your private, four-season Swim Spa Hydro Pool. It's heated year-round, so you can soak amidst snowflakes, falling autumn leaves, the blooms of spring, or the dappled sun of a summer evening. We provide robes and slippers for when you emerge!

· Share a feast. Choose from the fully equipped kitchen with an induction range cooker and a KAMADO JOE BBQ grill on the patio. Please ask about our catering packages.

Wake utterly refreshed. Each of the 5 bedrooms features an en-suite bath and a Hypnos Bed—world-famous for their comfort—wrapped in soft cotton linen. Need an extra lift? There's a Nespresso machine waiting in the kitchen for your morning coffee .

· Visit Dalkeith Country Park. Our historic surrounds provide countless activities. Most impressive is Dalkeith Country Park, featuring Fort Douglas Adventure Park for kids, and, for the adults, The Restoration Yard , cafe and restaurant serving family style meals. Also premier shopping and dining destination.

· Go fishing. The South Esk—reached via a stroll in our sweeping green lawn—is home to sea trout, salmon (occasionally), and a family of otters (even more occasionally). We can help you get set up with fishing rods with our local Gillie Or just sit on the flowering banks and listen to the rush of the river, only that you're mere miles from the bustle of Edinburgh!

· Stroll to town. Authentic Scottish pubs brimming with local character, shops and grocers are just a 5-minute walk away.

· Have a golf outing. Old Millhouse is perfect for a golf getaway, with championship courses nearby. · Visit Edinburgh. Edinburgh Castle and the city's many other attractions are just 20 minutes away by car, or jump on local public transport, which leaves outside our drive. We can arrange tours and book experiences for you.
We can arrange tickets for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo if you are visiting in August.

· Take advantage of our local expertise. We are more than just a vacation rental home; we can be your trip concierge, providing arrangements for transportation, personal chef services and various outings and on-site activities. Tell us what your heart desires.
Please take advantage of our Driver Wilbur, Wilbur will take you wherever you would like to go. Our favourite tour guide Darren is a VERY experienced tour guide . We can arrange trips to the Highlands if you wish a couple of days away.

· Stay in. You've earned some quiet time at our quiet country house! Nap on a comfy sofa. Read on an armchair. Cuddle up around the open log fire in the drawing room—seasoned dried logs are all chopped and ready to go for you. Or go the high-tech route: browse the web using the free WiFi or watch the SmartTV in the drawing room.
In short, Old Millhouse is for you if you seek both countryside tranquility and city exploration; shared laughs and solitary moments.
