This cottage was perfect for our 35th anniversary getaway. It was in a country setting right along the highway, with easy access. We found it roomy but cozy, clean and comfortable. We would recommend it to anyone, for a pleasant stay. We went to Quincy and Hannibal for restaurants, and enjoyed sightseeing along the river in both towns, strolling about watching the migratory birds in the very nice weather.
This house was perfect for our family getaway to Hannibal. Very clean and just as described. Plenty of space for our family of 6. We would definitely stay here again.
What a great location between Hannibal and Quincey. This was the best idea to stay at this home! Way better than hanging out in a hotel room with our daughter in college. The home was so clean and comfortable. We will be back for sure!!!
Our family needed a place to stay for one night on a road trip the house was perfect very clean! And accommodated us very well. We will definitely be back.
This house is located minutes from Quincy and made helping our son and DIL move so much easier. It is well stocked, clean, and newly remodeled. It was too cold and we didn’t have time to be outside, but the house is set in a beautiful location also.
This was a very nice place to stay for our visit to Hannibal, MO. It was an easy drive back and forth. I loved the decorations in the home. There was a box fan in every room! I usually sleep with a fan. I forgot to pack mine, so I was very happy when I found it. My only suggestion would be to get a pillow top mattress for the bed. It was a little hard for me. Everything else was great!
A Great time was had by all. This was the perfect location to meet family members and have a quiet Girls weekend away. We had 6 adults stay in this location and we had plenty of room. The only thing that would have helped was a 2nd bathroom. With 6 women this was a little interesting but we all made it work. We knew when we booked that there was only one. We had everything that we needed and the kitchen was well stocked as plenty of towels and wash clothes for everyone. Very clean and would definitely stay again. Thank you for sharing your rental with us!!!
Most everything about this house was great. It was clean and had everything we needed. The view of the sunset out the living room picture window is beautiful. This house is not handicap accessible. Our overall stay was great.
This beautiful home on I-57 was perfect for the purpose of breaking up our return trip from Dubuque to St. Louis. Clean, bright, airy—it had everything these three sisters needed for a one-night stay. Loved playing cards at the kitchen table. The sunset was spectacular. Would happily stay there again if venturing to Quincy or Hannibal.
This property was perfect for our friends trip to Hannibal/Quincy. Very clean with all amenities needed. Owners live nearby and checked in after our arrival. contacted us after arrival. we're
My husband and I planned a quick getaway weekend for Hannibal. We found this cute, cozy cottage just across the river in IL. It turned out to be the perfect location, just minutes from everything we did. Including a quick trip into Quincy too!
The house was so comfortable and the set up couldn’t be any better. I sat outside reading one morning and saw some rabbits and squirrels playing, then a cute puppy came up to say “hi” too!
We had a much needed, great time away! Thank you for allowing us to stay!
Great location, cute. Could use laundry access. Doors jammed and dishwasher broken...but overall great.

A lovely cottage, spacious, private, peaceful, close to Hannibal and Quincy. It felt like home! We would stay there again!
Suggestion: Add window treatments to large window in kitchen to close at night.

The cozy cottage lived up to its name. Very comfortable and welcoming. We cooked all our meals at the house. The gas grill was wonderful and most seasonings we use were available. We enjoyed our week there. Hannibal, St Louis, and Springfield were an easy day trip away.
The cable was missing local stations, ABC, CBS and NBC so the the Olympics were not available, but they did have Netflix available for movie nights. The beds were very comfortable and the shower had decent pressure. The extra fridge in the garage was a pleasant surprise. We were able to keep water and sodas cold without filling the house fridge, and the ice maker kept up with all 5 of us.
I would highly recommend this cottage for families spending time in this area. My only suggestion for the owners would be to add more place settings in dishware, and a couple more serving bowls and maybe a platter. The dishwasher was out of order, so we mostly used paperplates and glasses, so the dishes there was enough.
This is the third time we’ve stayed here when we visit relatives, and it is reliably clean and comfortable with plenty of space for our family of 4. Thanks for another great weekend!
The house was a good fit for our family of four. The rural location was perfect for us and remained quiet over the 4th of July. It is situated perfectly between Hannibal and Quincy, which was great for exploring the history of the area and enjoying the markets and celebrations. The house is cute and the beds extremely comfortable. As mentioned in the title, it is somewhat spartan in its furnishings and kitchen supplies like utensils/cutlery. It could benefit from a few basic additions like footstools in the living room and pads on the kitchen chairs, but we would definitely stay there again!

About the host
Hosted by Mark Wernowsky
The cottage was renovated in the spring of 2019. It was previously owned by our sweet, kind elderly neighbors who lived here their entire adult lives, until moving to a retirement home. We were their neighbors for 20 years. We have always lived in the Quincy area; only moving away in the early 90s for a job transfer for two years but couldn’t wait to get back. We have been married for 40 years, raised 7 wonderful children and now enjoying 18 grandchildren. We have so enjoyed this area for the past 25 years and are excited for our guests to experience what the area has to offer! Mark works in the financial business while Debbie is a homemaker. We most enjoy cooking together and having our children and grandchildren to our home to enjoy meals together.
Why they chose this property
The cottage is a secluded property just 1 mile from I-72. It's 12 miles from Quincy, IL; 10 miles from Hannibal, MO and right next door to Pointe D'Vine wedding venue and winery.
