Stonewood Lodge: A Stunning Stone Luxury Mountain Home For Nature Lovers!!!

LIKE A VISION REMEMBERED FROM A BEAUTIFUL DREAM...

Stonewood Lodge, inside and out, surrounds you with a magnificent natural setting. Imagine overlooking the tranquil, deeply shaded woods with towering evergreen and hardwood trees that offer a feeling of quiet solitude. Walk along and delight in the sights and sounds of a pristine, rushing MOUNTAIN STREAM JUST 20 STEPS FROM THE LODGE. Renew your serenity and spirit through the natural beauty surrounding you...creating a karma...a feeling...a mood...of being 'In the mountains, away from it all"...close to nature...relaxing and peaceful...but at the same time invigorating and rejuvenating!!

This majestic, stone, colonial mountain home was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of 'Organic Architecture' featuring PURE-ORGANIC building materials from the earth: STONE and WOOD...the essence of Stonewood Lodge! Hand built from 250 tons of split and shaped natural, native stone. Finished in a 'Craftsman Style' with gorgeous, indigenous PENNSYLVANIA HARDWOODS HARVESTED FROM THE PROPERTY. The metaphor of permanence resonates in an authentic 'Built by Owner' style reminiscent of an era gone by.

The home's interior living space was designed to bring elements of Nature indoors. Wild Black Cherry, White Sugar Maple and Red Oak were used throughout the Lodge to create custom cabinetry, unique furniture and finish every ceiling and wall including bathrooms, mudrooms, every closet and even the garage! Not one drop of stain was used to alter the 'real' color and grain of the wood in order to reveal its beautifully deep and rich natural patina! The total effect enhances visual pleasure and aesthetics...AS IF VIEWING A WORK OF ART BY MOTHER NATURE!

This impressive resort home is truly without equal...a unique blend of opulent refinement and rustic charm designed to delight and transport you beyond the ordinary, mundane stresses of modern life. The Lodge offers top of the line KITCHEN AID appliances, CUSTOM CABINETRY and GRANITE counter tops in both kitchens and all six bathrooms! TWO 50 inch SAMSUNG PLASMA TV's! Sundance Optima Hot Tub with night lights and waterfall; BRUNSWICK Pool Table w/All BRUNSWICK Accessories! TWO BOSE Stereo Systems! S/S JENN-AIRE gas grill! Beautiful professional landscaping with over 75 ornamental trees! Premium 100% NATURAL CORK flooring! FREE use of: 2 Old Town 16' Canoes & 12 Trek Pure bikes!

LOCATION, LOCATION, Lodge is in the geographic center of the entire Laurel Highlands tourist region. It is conveniently nestled right between two State Parks AND two Ski Resorts, Seven Springs and Hidden Valley, minutes to both. The property is adjacent and directly connected to 130,000 acres of Forbes State Forest and Laurel Hill State park. Because we are connected to the State Park we enjoy the best marked and groomed hiking trails in the entire Laurel Highlands right out our back door!

PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS/RULES BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION.

Stonewood Lodge welcomes and hosts multi-generational families and groups that include parents, grandparents and minor children. Also, we specialize in hosting senior and older couples and singles (Age 50 and older) who seek a unique and unparalleled level of safety, security and support directly from the owners!! For more details please inquire.

Stonewood Lodge is rented as a vacation home...not a party house. Any group looking for a rental home to engage in heavy drinking that could lead to drunken, destructive or dangerous behavior is asked to please rent a different home. Thank you.
Groups of singles or couples with no minor children must be at least 50 years of age or older.

Our occupancy limit at the Lodge is a total of 12 guests. We keep a strict occupancy limit of 12 guests to adhere to national fire safety codes.

Also, we strictly disallow inviting additional day or overnight visitors to the home beyond the agreed upon group size as indicated at the time the reservation is made.

We do not permit "In Garage" parking. We use the garage for storage of property maintenance equipment that we may need to access in a weather emergency.

All holiday weekends require a minimum stay of 3 nights. The exceptions are New Years and Christmas. Both New Years and Christmas require a minimum stay of 5 nights. The dates set aside for a New Years reservation are December 26 to January 2.
A Christmas reservation must depart no later then December 26.
To reserve both Christmas and New Years together requires a minimum stay of 10 nights between December 20 to January 3.

We cannot provide wifi. Because of our remote location we do not have cable lines to the property. We tried to use satellite internet but to establish a reliable signal we needed to cut down a swath of mature oak trees. The trees won. So, if you need to go beyond an internet connection with your own data plan and smart phone there is free indoor wifi at several locations around the area...7-Springs, Starbuck's, etc.

As part of our Rental Agreement we require all adult guests to sign a Liability Waiver...the same type you sign at a chain motel, doctor/dentist office or a bike/canoe rental. To validate the Liability Waiver in Pennsylvania, identity authentication is required. Each adult guest must provide a legible copy of a current, state issued, Driver's License photo ID that includes your name, address, DOB and issue/expiration date. ALL OTHER INFORMATION ON THE ID MAY BE CROSSED OUT.

All required documents must be received by the home owners within 14 days after making a reservation. You will be contacted by the owners within 24 hours after making a reservation with information and directions concerning the Rental Agreement and Liability Waivers.

The owners live part time in another stone house on a next door property and we will be there for the duration of your stay. So, we'll be able to meet you upon arrival with the keys and a quick tour of the Lodge.
On your day of arrival we would appreciate if you could call or write to give an ETA so one of us can meet you around that time.
Because we will be nearby and accessible, we welcome a chance to be helpful in any way we can. It is our policy to respect and safeguard the privacy of our guests, but please feel free to call us or knock on our door if you have any questions or needs. One of us should generally be available if needed.

Thank you.

Another great ski trip!

We stayed here last year and loved it so came back for another great weekend! It is a large house, very clean and nice, had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed the basement game room. We loved the hot tub after a day of skiing. The owners are nearby and made sure we got situated. Highly recommend this home

Beautiful property

Our extended family stayed at this property over the holidays and had a wonderful vacation! The house is beautiful and the owners were very kind and helpful during our stay. The property is incredibly well maintained with everything you could need. We spent our days skiing at Seven Springs, which was very convenient, and hiking in the state park. I would highly recommend this for a family vacation. The only negative was the lack of internet and cell phone service, which the owners clearly state in their description.

Relaxation

This is a beautiful property. The house is gorgeous and well appointed with upgraded appliances and well stocked with the necessary essentials. The owners were wonderful and so helpful when we had questions. The canoes were close by and the lake was perfect for young children. We enjoyed the fire pit immensely. Just be aware that there is no cell service or internet if that is a necessity.

Great getaway to unplug

This property had it all except Internet - but that was known going in and was a godsend for unplugging and having uninterrupted time to work on some safety training video recording and team building time. If you need Internet at this property you can get it from exterior to the house at a variety of locations, but not inside. The space and amenities are excellent - and I would certainly stay here again. It's remote and tranquil - an excellent place to bond with family and friends or even coworkers in our case.

Family Ski Trip

What a beautiful house built by the owner Jim! Accommodations were great and the owner Jim helped us out big time with getting into the house during a winter storm. The wildlife at the house will keep you entertained for sure. We saw turkeys, various other birds, and a ton of deer (40+ on one night) on the property. We could not of had a better time and appreciate everything Jim and Suzanne did to make it happen.

Holiday Weekend With Friends

Stonewood Lodge is a wonderful property and served as a great place for our family to catch up with old friends and their children. Jim and Sue are fantastic hosts in all respects -- super friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable about the area, etc. The location near the ski resorts is a plus, but there is so much to do around the property, that we rarely left!

Family Weekend

We stayed as a family of eight (8) to celebrate a birthday. Great lodge, very clean with plenty of room for all to spread out. The owners were very helpful with easy and responsive communications. Although our weather was not the best, the lodge is in a beautiful setting with a wonderful firepit area.

Comfortable & clean

We had a great time celebrating with family in this super clean location. Space was great for extended family, other than some of the exposed 1/2 bath areas we were all able to have our own space to relax. We made use of the fire pit daily and enjoyed exploring the trails right in the back yard!

Friends Weekend

We were a small group of adult couples celebrating our 30th anniversaries. Stone Lodge is an absolutely beautiful, welcoming space to gather, play, enjoy nature, and find quiet private spaces when desired. The house design is stunning, exceptionally clean, anticipates every need with detail, and located close to trails, lake, and state parks, while easy to get to from the turnpike. Provision of canoes, bikes, fire pit, and trail access made outdoor activities easy and relaxed. Our friends loved it and just said “wow!” We could access our texts, internet, email or download when outside (Eg. Balcony, driveway) so not a major issue. Great weekend. Hosts were available and helpful. Thank you!

Family Time

The property was perfect for my extended family. We were looking for a place where we could just get together and hang out since we haven't been together since Covid began. The property was perfect and the fact there was no wi-fi was an added plus for us as the 5 teenagers were more than happy to hike, fish, bike ride and just be present with the family. There was so much to explore and do as well as just being able to stay at the house and have a family meal and campfire. Jim and Suzanne were great hosts! Happy to help when we had a question and even made sure we had what we needed for our family pizza night! Great Property!

Wonderful stay

Wonderful stay over the long weekend. Jim and Suzanne are great hosts, they live on the property and we're available for questions but we're not obtrusive at all. House is beautiful, super clean and well stocked. Lovely hot tub and firepit. Abuts the state park so very quiet and serene. Was also great with kids. Close to fallingwater and kentuck knob. Internet a little spotty but other than that a perfect getaway. We would love to visit again.

Fantastic family getaway

We spent 4 nights at the Stonewood Lodge in early April and absolutely loved it. The trip was rather spontaneous and boy were we lucky to find it. The lodge and property are every bit as beautiful as the pictures suggest and everyone from age 11 to 44 had a great time, with plenty to do. This was our first real family trip during COVID times and we couldn’t have picked a better place to go! There are countless activities for families and/or groups looking to enjoy the outdoors or to simply kick back and relax by the fire pit, hot tub, library, deck, loft, bar, pool table... In terms of cleanliness, I’m not sure it could get much better. The owners live in a second home on the property and are incredibly welcoming and accessible. Being that they live there, we saw them several times and had some great conversations. However, there was never too much owner presence - just enough to ensure we knew they really were there if we needed something or had a question. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return. The only potential improvement is to bring Grandma and Grandpa and the cousins next time!

Beautiful winter escape

We loved everything about this property and the time we spent here. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful, and also close by to take care of any problems if they arose. We went with young children and the owner had pre-warned us that the loft areas were not child proof, so made a general rule that no children were allowed up there and that worked out just fine. The kitchen was VERY well stocked, and we also thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub! The one difficulty we had with the property which is why I rated it a 4 in accuracy of the listing is that we wished that the lack of wi-fi and cell service had been more explicit in the listing. We had no idea that there would be no wi-fi, which generally would not have been such an issue, but then to add on top of that the lack of cell service inside of the house (for 3 different carriers- AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile) made it difficult for planning purposes. We had one guest who needed to be in contact with family due to a family emergency so it was very inconvenient/concerning not to have cell service in the house. Also again for planning purposes the lack of communication with people who were in the house was challenging since we wanted to arrange drop offs and pickups of kids to/from the mountain, etc. We also wanted to know the weather to know how to dress for the slopes, and just couldn't get that information from the house. I will say there is a house phone but it took us a few days to get the number. We could have resolved many of these issues had we just had the house phone number immediately upon arrival (we were told it was on a piece of paper in the house but were not able to locate it). I don't want to harp on the cell/wi-fi but we were taken by surprise that that was the situation what we walked into. It would not have changed our decision to stay here, but it helps to be better prepared, ask for the phone number immediately upon arrival, etc. Overall it's a wonderful home and the property and location are fantastic; I imagine it's even better in the warmer months where you can enjoy the fire pit, yard, and outdoor space!

Beautiful Stone Lodge in natural wonderland

The Stone Wood Lodge is a gorgeous and clean property located near a deer and wildlife preserve. Watch the wildlife feed in shifts from the comfort of your home. Flocks of blue jays, turkeys, cardinals and herd of deer come to feed daily. Home contains a small library with something for everyone. Game room has a pool table, game cabinet and Xbox. Be aware, there is NO wireless and minimal cell coverage. This home is great for a getaway, when you need to unplug.

Wonderful, immaculately clean house

We had a wonderful stay at this house during the winter. We've stayed at properties all around the world and the upkeep and cleanliness of this house was at the top of our list. The owners were very accessible. Great location backing up to state park/nature access for hiking, and short trip to seven springs for skiing/snow tubing. Really liked the layout as there was separate part of the house with 3 bedrooms where all the kids slept. This allowed our 2 year old to nap during the day without being woken from the noise coming from us in the kitchen/other side of the house). Thank you for a wonderful stay and great memories!
