This is the sweetest little house. This is the second time I have stayed here and loved it even more. This was a very productive work trip for me. I will book again when back in the area.
We needed a one night stay, so we could pick up our new puppy the next day. Kim's place was perfect! Such a lovely and charming house. Plenty of space, and had all the comforts on hand. It's in a safe, quiet neighborhood, and it's very clean. If we're ever up this way again, we won't hesitate to stay here! Thank you, Kim!
Very nice for our first vrbo stay. Lots of extras. We didn’t need a thing! Bigger than we needed for just the two of us. Places to stay close to family were very limited. Worked great for us!
We LOVE this house! Its 10 mins from our grandbaby and just perfect for us to get away to. So clean & homey & plenty of room for him to get around in his walker!
We enjoyed our time. Plenty of space and close to a really cool little coffee shop down the street. Kid friendly with games and toys and a lot of room to run around in the backyard for epic hide and seek! Internet is wicked fast. Grocery store within walking distance.
We went for w/e to spend time w/our new grandbaby. House was 10 muns away, so it was perfect. The house was great! Clean, comfortable & everything we needed. We played games, enjoyed local places to eat & held baby alot! We will definitely be back! Would recommend blinds in living room but everything was really perfect!
My cousin and I came up for the Apple Festival….our mothers (sisters) used to come to the mtns every October to celebrate their birthdays and we did this as a way to remember them and hopefully make it an annual event.
The house was in a very convenient location and was very comfortable and welcoming (reminded me of our grandmother’s home….loved the creaking hardwood floors and vintage vibe!)
The only suggestion that I would make is to add shutters, sheers or some type of window covering for the living room windows….we felt a little uncomfortable at night with no covering over the living room windows….otherwise, no complaints and we hope to return for another stay! 😃.
This place was perfect for us. Grocery store nearby and restaurants weren't too far away. The neighborhood was very quiet. The house was clean and everything we needed was there. The only thing missing was hand soap in the bathroom. We bought some and refilled the bottle that was there.
This was the perfect home to stay in for our family trip! We have a teen and 2 younger boys and there was plenty of room for everyone. The property is so cute and so many touches to keep that comfortable home feeling. Everything was perfect! Thanks so much and we highly recommend this lovely home!

About the host
Hosted by Kim Brown
I am a retired teacher and mother of 2 college aged children. Both are college athletes. We have traveled across the country and stayed in many VRBO/HomeAway properties. After retiring I decided to remodel some family properties and list them on the site. I manage three properties on VRBO; they are located in Taylorsville, Boone, and Mooresville. I also have an antique booth and have enjoyed picking up treasures while traveling for both my booth and my properties. Therefore you will see many items that I have picked while traveling to furnish these homes.
Why they chose this property
If you are specifically traveling to the Taylorsville area you will find it hard to locate a place to stay while visiting. Most visitors must stay in Hickory, Statesville, Lenior or Wilkesboro and travel 20 - 30 minutes back and forth to Taylorsville. Therefore we decided to take this property off of the long term rental market, remodel it, and place it on the short term market and see how it goes.
What makes this property unique
Some of the unique things to come to Taylorsville for include mining at the Emerald Hollow Mine, rock climbing at Rocky Face Park (try the vertical mile challenge!), visit Shadowline Vineyards, go fishing on Lake Hickory, come for a 5K or one of the many town Apple Festivals!
