Guest Access
Guests have exclusive use of the entire cabin. Guests also have full access to the outside property which includes the creeks, the creekside deck and chairs, the creekside bench, the fenced pet area, the steep wooded area, and the grassy area of the apple trees. Parking is available in the driveway near the cabin, or just off the driveway on Plum Tree Lane (gravel road that crosses the property) as needed. Parking / driving along Plum Tree Lane or the grassy areas is discouraged for non-4-wheel drive vehicles, particularly in wet conditions.

The Neighborhood- Overview
The Glens of Antrim is in a secluded mountain cove off the beaten track. Traffic is virtually non-existent and the area is safe. Homes are on large lots and somewhat scattered across two subdivisions. It’s a short drive to a walking entrance to the Smoky Mountains National Park on the other side of the cove - perfect for hiking. The mountain cove area is often rocky and mostly wooded with lots of tall hardwoods, evergreens, and other foliage. Occasional wildlife: rabbits, turkey, deer, and on very rare occasions black bears.

The Neighborhood- Getting Around
Paved roads all the way to the property. Last 1.5 miles of access roads involve steep inclines. Neighborhood roads are well suited for a nice nature walk with moderate to steep inclines. 4-wheel drive vehicle may be necessary in the winter months depending on road conditions. Occasional snow in the late Fall to early Spring months can cause access and egress issues, so be sure to discuss this with the owners.

Guest Interaction
Owners are available by text or telephone as needed. We are always pleased to offer tips on any subject to our guests, and a ‘Tips for Guest List’ is posted for your full enjoyment of the unit.

Other Things to Note
*Cell phone service may be unreliable depending on your carrier. Verizon works fairly well. Wireless internet may alleviate problems. Landline telephone available.
*Walking entrance to Smoky Mountains National Park is a short driving distance at the end of Hemphill Road.
*Biker friendly.
*Near the Cataloochee Ski Area and the Cataloochee Horse Ranch. 1.5 miles via Yellow Patch Road off Hemphill Road. This is a rugged, unmaintained, curvy, & steep mountain road with no guardrails– 4-wheel drive vehicles strongly recommended, and use during icy or slick conditions can be dangerous. Paved road access to Cataloochee through Maggie Valley along Soco Road is 15 miles.
*Easy access to Interstate 40, Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Hazelwood, Clyde, and Lake Junaluska, Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Indian Reservation, Harrah’s Casino, & main entrance to Smoky Mountain National Park, Sylva, Dillsboro, Bryson City, and Brevard.
*Backing out of driveway at night requires caution. Backing into the driveway should be considered.
*Please grant us the courtesy of contacting us with any problems that you have, allowing us to take corrective action before posting your comments.

Great cabin

We had a ski weekend scheduled and the cabin provided all the comforts we needed to relax after days on the slopes. The kitchen had everything, the beds were comfy, and warm blankets.

Very Relaxing

Great property and location. Near Waynesville and Maggie Valley. My wife and I needed a relaxing, comfortable place to join our adult son and his girlfriend. This was just the ticket!!! Great place for our dogs too and they got really tired running on the hills so we all slept better!!!

Family Mountain Trip

This property was great and just what we needed for our annual fall trip to the mountains. The cabin was spacious, had plenty of room, and was very clean. Mrs. Patrick was very responsive to any questions we had. We hope to return as it is one of our favorite places to stay thus far!

Best Vacation in Years!

The pictures do not do this place justice!!. It was so beautiful and well decorated and stocked. We didn’t have to look for anything in the cabin. there were clear directions available for every item. Very peaceful and serene not far from shopping and fun but still quiet and majestic. We will be back! ❤️❤️

Memories in the Smokies

Every year my husband and I spend a week with our adult children and their spouses. We have been doing this for three years. This is our second time in the smokies and it was a different experience because the last time was at Thanksgiving. Thank you Ms. Patrick for welcoming us into your home, and letting us make even more memories!

Family Reunion

House was much better than even expected! Plenty of room for our family. Beds very comfortable. Kids enjoyed playing in the creek. The sound of the running water reaches the porch, which is literally in the treetops. Beautiful, peaceful setting in a perfect area. Enough land to not be disturbed by neighbors.

family business trip

Everything was as good or better than advertised except VRBO slipped badly on their end!!! We received no less than 4 emails from them. Fortunately, we were able to contact Suzanne and also after failing making to make with VRBO she got us the info to get us in the door. Once in we entered Smokey Mountain Paradise. This was not our first mountain rental cabin but by far the best. Suzanne claimed to be dog friendly and true to form Hank and Moose each had their bowls set up and waiting. The cabin had everything needed to cook, clean, and enjoy the mountain air and scenery. Need suggestions on where to go, check out the library just past the stairs. Horseback riding, White water rafting (straight North on I-40) the kids loved the zipline at the end of the run also. We had a couple of good meals in Waynesville after the kids left. Best of all this in not Dollywood or Gatlinburg. You are in the middle Smokey Mountain National Park. We saw Elk and black Bear with their cubs. Mountain peaks at the beginning of being painted by mother nature's paint brush and so much History. So much quiet that heals the soul. Don't miss it!

Excellent Family Ski Trip

This home made our annual family and friends ski trip better than ever before. Our group consisted of 2 families- 8 adults, 3 teenagers, one pre-teen, and our dogs. The house is well equipped with everything you could need to feed a large group. Keurig and regular coffee pot. We were happy and comfortable with all the furniture, except the pull out couch downstairs was rough to sleep on. There’s plenty of space for everyone between the 3 floors. My friend even brought a sewing machine and set it up in the pub area to sew all weekend. The stream and property are beautiful and the sound of the water running is relaxing up on the huge deck. Very dog friendly. This really is a fantastic house. It’s a beautiful home that you can tell is well loved. Now here’s the best part- it’s 1.5 miles to the ski resort via a secret back road that takes you right to the top at the employee parking lot. No waiting in the long line of cars! We would ski all day, head back to the house, then go back to drop the kids off to night ski. It’s so close. Thank you to the owners for sharing your awesome house. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice Location

This house is located in a nice area and is easily accessible for any vehicle. Communications with the owner were good. The house was clean and well stocked. We were disappointed that we could not see or hear the stream/water on the property due to the fallen leaves this time of year. We chose this location mostly for the water. The stream does run in front of the house, but is small and completely covered this time of year. This house is very dog friendly if you’re traveling with your pet. It is probably not the safest for elderly people due to the narrow driveway and no walking area around the house. Also, there are a lot of stairs. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. The bathrooms are in nice condition. Our biggest complaint was the living room furniture is damaged with the exception of a wooden rocking chair. There is limited seating, with the sofa and recliner both having issues. It was extremely uncomfortable when we wanted to hang out and watch a movie. No one was happy with the furniture situation. We would consider staying here again only if the living room furniture is updated.

Serenity in the woods

This was a great place to stay. No issues with the accommodations. Have recommended it to my nephew and his family. Was just 2 of Us but would have been good for a larger family getaway. We were able to hit the things we wanted to do within an hour’s radius of the location. Would consider it again for next trip. .

The house was great. I was a little disappointed in the distance from Cataloochee. We did not know that the 1.6 miles had to be traversed with a 4 wheel drive vehicle until after we booked. Other than that everything was fine.

Thanksmas

Quiet cabin in the woods. Owners were quick to respond to a problem with the heating system. The floor in the pub area could have used more attention by the cleaning crew. I’m glad we all drove SUV’s as the driveway is a little problematic. Had a great time celebrating what our family calls Thanksmas. We can’t all get together on Christmas so we celebrate the two holidays together.
