About this property

Lakefront cottage on Echo Lake

Two-Sky Lake House sits right on the shore of Echo Lake in northern Vermont. Echo lake is regarded as one of the cleanest lakes in VT. The crystal clear lake waters are excellent for swimming, boating, fishing, bird watching and relaxing. Looking south you have an excellent view of Bald Mountain and across the lake is an iconic VT red barn and working farm.

This property is not a party or gathering place. Best for 1-2 guests wishing a quiet retreat.
We strive to be courteous to our neighbors. Artists, outdoor enthusiasts and wildlife appreciators are most welcome. It is a one bedroom, small septic home on the lake we wish to share with those willing to adhere to our wishes. Preservation of our home and lake quality is most important. Thank you.

Renting Saturday to Saturday, seven night minimum during June, July and August.
No wake boats, it's not that kind of a lake.

Two-Sky is aptly named because of the calm reflections in the evening hours. This location also provides privacy on either side. I love sitting, watching and listening to the loons, and sometimes the most commotion on the lake are the loons! The country dirt road around the lake is exactly 5 miles and is excellent for jogging, biking or walking. There are accessible hiking trails right from the property.

This one bedroom lake house has been newly acquired and is getting a little face lift.
2020 Updates year of purchase: new cedar siding, rug removal, rearrangement of appliances.
2021 updates. Installed tile and wide pine flooring! Improved deck. New doors. Dishwasher.
2022 updates. Installed wide pine flooring in bedroom. Updated bathroom features. New raft.
2023 updates. deck picnic table.

Nice quiet location for a romantic get away. We have a dock for your boat and a raft for diving. We have mostly sand with a few rocks underwater for sitting. No beach. Dock to step in water at 12"-14" deep.

This is a beautiful location with many outdoor opportunities.

We hope to share this you!
Thank you!

We currently have a mini electric organ in the living room.
I'm trying to find a home for my grandmothers organ so the configuration is a little different from the living room pictures.

Perfect Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is well appointed and clean. The lake was incredible - fun to swim and kayak. Lovely to sit on the deck or around the campfire while listening to the loons. Thank you!

An idyllic, loon-filled lake

We so enjoyed our time at Echo Lake. The lake itself is wonderfully quiet and clean. We loved swimming, kayaking, and watching the Merganser ducks from the porch. A great place to relax.

Peace and Tranquillity

A wonderful location right on Echo Lake, the sound of loons calling, the nearly full moon reflected in the still waters...a perfect getaway in a well appointed cozy cottage with its own dock. We swam and paddled in the lake and slept so well. Thanks for sharing your home with us. We will be back.

Outstanding Property

This is our second year staying here. We loved it. It is so peaceful. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck taking in the magnificent scenery. Lake is great for swimming. We did the 5 mile walk around the lake a number of times. Found hikes in the area. Visited the 2 local farm stands close by. Ate in the local restaurants in Island Pond. Cucina Gerardo and the Essex Tavern both great. We hope to return again next year. We have traveled and rented throughout the United States and Canada, this ranks in the top ten.

Lovely slice of heaven in the Northeast Kindgom

This lakefront cottage is perfect for a vacation getaway! We enjoyed drinking our coffee/tea on the deck each morning, watching the ducks, ducklings and loons swim by the cottage. Echo Lake is a gem! So clean for swimming and kayaking - and there are two kayaks at the cottage. The dock allows for easy access to the water. Dawn and Mark have thought of everything at their lovely cottage - floats, plush towels, Keurig, toaster, darts, Chinese checkers, gas grill, etc. The kitchen is well stocked - we found everything we needed for cooking meals. We enjoyed dinner out at the Derby Village Inn and Vermont Pie and Pasta - great food and atmosphere located close by in Derby. The Sweet Scoops ice cream shop is also a must stop! It's a lovely 5 mile loop around the lake for biking, running and walking. A very peaceful, calm place for a wonderful vacation! Thank you, Mark and Dawn, for sharing your little slice of heaven!

Quiet getaway for two? This is the place!

If you’re looking for a quiet, private, waterfront property to get away from it all, this is it! The house was so charming and cozy. It was everything we were looking for. If we weren’t hiking Bald Mountain, fishing Eco Lake or Seymour Lake (two small mouth bass!) or visiting the beautiful nearby town of Newport, we were on the deck. The deck is partially outfitted with a shade cloth which we were thankful for; midday in late July got quite warm. We brought a blow up mattress and slept outside on the deck, looking at the Milky Way, watching the Perseids meteor shower while listening to the magical song of the Loons. It really doesn’t get much more perfect than that. We didn’t need to communicate with Mark or Bonnie; everything was exactly as described in the listing. We did send them some photos and videos to share the fun we were having at their home, their responses were immediate. I wish we could have stayed longer. P.S. The water pressure and the shower were spot on!

Beautiful lakefront cabin

The cabin is situated perfectly on Echo Lake with beautiful views and a nice deck for enjoying all day long. There is a canvas cover over the deck which is great as it faces south - so made it comfortable even in the midday sun. The lake itself is clean and water temp was perfect for swimming. The kitchen is well appointed (except the drip coffee maker is mini, there is a Keurig if u like those). The bed was comfortable. We liked the dart board and water seltzer dispenser too as added bonuses. Walks around the lake were nice and not too much traffic. Lake noisy with motor boats at times. Bring your groceries as the nearby markets are poorly stocked & not many places to grab a bite. We love to cook - so for us -not a problem. Newport grocery ~ 25 min drive on dirt roads. Kayaks: the host only provides one - a miss - suggest getting another one so a couple has ability to paddle together. We rented another at add'l cost. The biggest disappointment was the swimming platfom was not in the water - all the pictures show this and it is described as an amenity. We were not told it would not be available for our stay. For time of yr (July) & the price, it should have been. Furnishings in cabin are a little 'tired' & cluttered. 2 people max - so why daybed? Would be bonus if Washer/Dryer made available for week long stays. (behind locked door)

Book It Now

This property is everything in the listing and more. Very clean, stunning view, filled with amenities. If you are on the fence, don’t waste anymore time & just book it. The location is secluded & peaceful but other areas are a 20-30 min drive away. There is a 5 mile path around the lake that we biked but you could also walk. The lake is clear to the bottom. The cottage is spacious and very clean. We kayaked every day with the included kayaks, which is another great amenity included. The others responded to us quickly and were very nice. We felt very comfortable there and will return. Thank you for hosting a great place!

Great hideaway

We enjoyed unplugging and getting away to this great little house! Everything was exactly as described. The weather wasn't fully cooperative and we had some trouble getting the gas stove going. But communication with Dawn was almost immediate and she had her husband on standby to come get the stove started, Fortunately we were able to get it going once we replaced the batteries on the remote control. The only minus would be that the nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away, but that can also be considered a plus. Once we had our supplies, the house had everything we needed from linens to cooking utensils. The one nice sunny day we had we were able to enjoy swimming and kayaking with views that are beautiful. Would definitely recommend this property!

The perfect vacation

Hubby and I were thrilled with our stay. The cottage was perfect, the location right on the lake front even more so. The hosts were amazing and have gone above and beyond to make vacationers feel at home; they were prompt with responses to any questions that we had. We had everything we needed and the hosts were so generous to let us use their kayaks. It truly felt like home away from home with the ultimate privacy and serenity. Have recommended to all our friends and we'll be coming back! Thank you Mark and Dawn!
