This is an ideal place to stay for a family or small group visiting the national park or heading up to Whakapapa. Nothing too fancy, but warm, cozy, clean and comfortable!
We stayed here at National Park to ski up on the Mountain. Although the weather was not that good we had a great time and it was nice to relax at Turquoise Lodge. The fire was great and plenty of room to spread out. Great facilities, including a coffee machine. Thanks.
We only stayed here one night but the house had everything we needed and we loved the fire and the views of the mountains. We'd love to come back again one day!
This was a lovely home. We loved cabin feeling with fireplace, warm blankets and pillows to curl up with, window views, and stocked kitchen. Loved the little town of National Park and it closeness to the park entrance road. It was very comfortable and enjoyable for our family of 5 adults. Thank you!
Location is great. But the floor appears to be dirty and we had no idea which towels are clean as all linens, towels and sleeping bags are randomly piled in closet without doors.
We loved our stay here. The property was accurate to the listing, easy check in and good communication with owner. The bach was very well stocked with everything we needed and more. My teens appreciated the good wifi and smart tv. We loved the location for its access to walks and bike rides. So much to do down here for an active family. Would recommend and would stay again.
Well equipped old cottage in quiet street. Comfortable beds, log burner.
Beware advertised hot tub not present ! Didnt matter to us but might matter to others.
We only stopped for 1 night to break a long road trip, wish we had a couple at least. Walking distance for all national park amenities. Lovely view from property. So handy for tongariro crossing + park. Well equipped. Personally don't like fleecy sheets but minor issue only. Ness was good to deal with+ responded quickly.
We loved the house; spaciousness and location were good, except there was no snow :(
Communication with the owner was quick and easy.
However, instructions for cleaning/leaving were not given so there was some confusion about what we needed to do. We had noticed that there were some areas that had not been cleaned for a while, then met the person who came to change the beds and apparently that is all she does? So - clearer instructions please, we would have cleaned if we'd known we had to.
House size good, kitchen worked well. Great fire.
It takes a long time to heat up this home. Even with heat pump on and fire going we were sitting on only 16 degrees after a couple of hours. Pillows on bed need replacing. They are too old. Shower drain had not been cleaned well enough.
Price was fair. Plenty of parking and good flat section
We were really happy with the accomodation, impressed by the views, was really clean with amazing bathrooms. All the facilities and little details were available, super cozy and warm. Very sunny during the day, we loved it and the location to other amenities was awesome! We'd definitely pick this place again.
The only slight negative I'd say was that there was everything we needed like blankets/electric blankets so therefore we wish we hadn't have felt the need to load our vehicle up with extra duvets etc when we didn't need to. I think this was just the host being concerned for our comfort so in no way a major thing but we'd bring less next time.
Overall we feel like we were very looked after by Vanessa.
speciatious and cozy but need information about wood refill from the shed

We had a great stay at the Turquoise Lodge, the fire kept the place nice and cozy, plenty of room with 4 adults and 4 pre-schoolers. We especially loved the drying rack and the coffee machine.
Excellent beds. Good fireplace and drying rack. Well equipped throughout with blankets beanbags and great coffee machine! Handy to ski biz where we hired our gear for a day on the mountain.
Great spot for a ski week and sitting around the fire
Great spot. Nice central Log burning fire with plenty of wood and space to relax after days on the mountain. Nice big dining table had been more of us. A 2-block walk to the pubs and restaurants at National Park. Short drive to Whakapapa so we could be there easily for the first runs. We had a great week with two young kids (6,3) who loved to bean bags and bunk rooms. Great ski gear drying options came in handy.
A clean, quiet, and spacious house, centrally situated in National Park township. Friendly and prompt replies from the owner. Our stay was hassle free - and the weather was brilliant!
Our family had a lovely stay here. We faced a bout of unusually cold weather; the wood burner kept us warm and dry (once going for a while) and there were plenty of cozy blankets.
Has everything you need. Good communication from owner. Nice and handy to ski fields. We had some cold days so a heat pump would be an awesome addition as it took a while for the fire to heat the house up, but once going it was good.

Clean, comfortable, warm. Spacious flat yard
The fireplace makes the living area a great space to relax in. National Park village is small so everything is close anyway. It was a great quiet retreat; enjoyed relaxing quietly in that space a lot. I would definitely stay again.

The Middle of Adventure Land
This place is great - right in the middle of MTB, hiking and skiing adventures. It's homely, very warm thanks to a wood burner and ducted heat and got all the cooking things needed. Also lots of room to spread out.

What makes this property unique
Turquoise Lodge started out in a factory in Mount Maunganui circa 1970.
Beasley homes built hundreds of set model houses for the nZ government amount others clients.
The original owner was the house was severed to site on a truck as a complete build.\
Whanau bought the home in and lived there while working at the local timber mill for xxxx years.
Turquoise Lodge was created when we purchased the propety in 2005 .We immediatly did some works firstly to take out some walls around the living and kitchen areas as the spaces were tiny and isolated. We removed the wood stove from the kitchen knocked down the walls between kitchen and dinning room and lounge . A new kitchen was fitted reusing some parts of the original as we hopped to retain some of the building s originality.
We have left the original floor exposed in this area as you can see the old wall lines still showing on the floor.
2009 we pushed out the old porch area and included the space in the dining area. We had to put some big beams to support the roof structure.
In 2018 a Tornado clipped the back side of the lounge, driving a pice of timber through the roof . We repaired the roof and recarpeted this area as part of the repairs.
2023 We got finally got to reconfigure the bathroom and laundry areas and giving the back half of the house a spruce up.
We love the time we spend at Turquoise Lodge and hope you enjoy the oppitunity this area offers all year round.
