The Space:
LIMETREE COTTAGE is a classic Caribbean style stone residence with arched openings, mahogany doors & windows, and wooden shutters, on a prime 1+ acre site in Estate Chocolate Hole offering excellent privacy and 180 degree unobstructed views of Hart Bay, Chocolate Hole, Great Cruz Bay and St. Thomas. The Southern exposure catches the cooling trade-winds. Limetree Cottage is solidly built with native stone, French clay tile roof, spacious open & covered porch and circular driveway. The cottage has all new appliances in the kitchen and furniture in the spacious king bedroom and living areas. The home also has a small second bedroom on the lower level (accessible through a separate entrance) with two single beds and small bathroom which is great for older kids. Both bedrooms have A/C.

This is a truly spectacular vacation home that is just 5 minutes to town yet very private. One of the Island Abodes properties on St. John.

Tight 2 nd bedroom

The house has two levels. The lower outside bedroom is so tiny, no room for a carry on suitcase, no closet. One hook. The living area and primary bedroom is lovely and comfortable.

Breathtaking views

Awesome mother daughter trip to St. John

We loved the Limetree Cottage. What a deck! What views! Everything was as advertised and just right. I especially enjoyed our privacy and peace! Comfortable bed and good shower. We enjoyed cooking and grilling and relaxing on the deck. We so appreciated that beach chairs, coolers, and beach towels were provided! Thanks for an amazing stay in St John.

Amazing patio with views!

Lime tree cottage was a great first place to stay on St. John. The views are amazing and outdoor space you’ll want to come back for. My daughter (11y.o.) didn’t want to stay down below so she used the couch instead. Upstairs is good for a couple. The additional bedroom below is a little tight but maybe ok for a teen.

Great place, beautiful views

First, you can’t beat the views from the deck - just gorgeous. We spent a lot of time outside. Inside, the house has everything you might need, kitchen has all you need for cooking too. The second bedroom downstairs is a tight squeeze, but it works especially if you have kids. The home was also very clean. Overall, I highly recommend!

Charming Place with the View

Beautiful well-maintained cottage with a view. Lots of amenities including beach chairs, coolers, coozies, basic kitchen necessities. The lower bedroom would be fine for teenagers/kids, but adults should know it is two single beds in a small space with a noisy water pump if water is running upstairs. Regardless, it was a great stay and beautiful space. Would fully stay here again.

Great- but a couple things to know before you go

We had a great trip, check in was easy, and had no issues with the house. Beach chairs and towels to borrow were great! Few things to pay attention to though: 1. AC is in bedrooms only, not the whole house 2. Windows have screens and blinds only (no AC) so ants can crawl in to eat kitchen crumbs 3. Have to buy drinking water at the store- tap water is rainwater. (Apparently this way throughout st john?) We had a great trip- but the family would have been happier on day one if I had made the above items clear to everyone ahead of time

Limetree Cottage Review

Pros: Very clean, nice airy feeling on the main level, well equipped(except for beach umbrella), beautiful views and deck. Cons: Downstairs area very small, downstairs area had many mosquitos, tiled stairs leading to property should have lighting...we arrived late and it was quite dangerous on these stairs. Overall the property is very nice, and there were just a few things that kept us from rating it a 5 star across the board.

Cottage

The location was close to town but a car was needed. We tried to just use the taxis, but it was very inconvenient. We had to put our lives in danger every time we walked down to the Westin to catch a ride. There were no regular stops at our street so the Westin was the best solution as Taxis regularly stopped there. The exterior of the cottage was beautiful and the back porch was the best thing about the stay. Though the interior was clean and tidy, it was very austere and a little sad feeling. I am glad my husband and I were alone. We had planned on inviting friends because of the extra bedroom below. It would have been fine for children, but was so small and honestly it felt like a cell. I would have hated to put friends in there. Overall the stay was very nice and I would go again, but I would recommend the owners make it a bit more cheerful inside.

Excellent stay in Paradise!

Limetree was absolutely amazing! The cottage was super clean and inviting with gorgeous views from inside and from the huge deck. Check-in was super easy and instructions/tips left in the cottage were very helpful. Landscaping was fantastic and all the flowers were beautiful. Breakfast on the deck every morning was perfect and a wonderful way to start off every day. We saw several little lizards and an iguana down below at the to of a nearby tree so that was really cool. We didn't do very much cooking while we were there, but the kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, pots/pans and utensils. The A/C in the bedroom worked great and kept us very cool in the night. Loved the open air shower! It was only about a five minute drive from the town so it was quick and easy to get back and forth. We will definitely be back.

Didn’t want to leave

House was great and the patio was breath raking! Owners have done a great job with the property and lots of nice little touches. Would definitely stay here again. Driveway is a bit scary.

Wonderful Trip!

My husband and I stayed at Lime Tree Cottage for 5 nights for a much needed break from work. The views and deck are spectacular just like in the photos! The property is on a nice quiet street and convenient to town. The interior of the cottage is very cute and the AC in the master bedroom works great (we didn’t use the downstairs room), and the bed was comfortable as well. Basil came out to help with a couple small things that came up and was very responsive and fast. We really couldn’t get enough of the view, morning coffee is a real treat here! The *only* thing that is good to note is that (not unusual in tropical climates) the windows do not have glass- they are screens with shutters you can close at night, so given the location and the way sound carries, you do hear voices pretty clearly when someone at another home nearby is talking outside, and the birds on and around the deck woke us up pretty early most mornings. Not necessarily a bad thing by any means but I am a light sleeper, so I would recommend a sound machine or something of the likes if you are like me. I will say however, having no glass when it rains frequently in the early morning, is very soothing! The beach chairs provided are great, and we had plenty of towels which is always nice. We would definitely come back to Lime Tree Cottage!!!

Excellent location, quiet and secluded feeling but just a couple minutes from town. Cottage is just as described. Clean! Showers already include shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel! Excellent communication.

Great vrbo

Amazing location, not far from downtown Cruz bay. Property was clean and beautiful. Amazing view of both chocolate hole and great Cruz bay. Property management was super accessible if you have an issue, we had no issues, but we were given a local contact who we could easily contact, had we needed them. Would definitely recommend this property! Wish I didn’t have to leave!

Nice sea cottage with beautiful views

My family and I enjoyed our stay. Simple instructions for check in and house rules upon arrival very easy to understand. We wish we could have stayed longer. We explored the island as much as we could and didn’t spend a lot of time at the cottage. Location was close to town so very convenient to go shopping for whatever we needed. Awesome views from the deck of both chocolate hole and great Cruz bay. You even see more islands I think it was the other side of Cruz bay or is it St Thomas or Tortola? I’m not sure but it’s beautiful. Enough space for my family of 4 which includes 2 teenagers. We would stay here again!

Great location and view! Highly Recommend!

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at Limetree Cottage. It was so cute and clean. I travel to St. John every year and have never had such a clean place. The towels and sheets were high quality. That may not sound important to you as you read this, but believe me I've stayed in some places where the linens were gross. The beach chairs were brand new and awesome..............again have had bad experiences in this area. The cooler could have been better - small and it leaked. The second bedroom is separate (downstairs) from the main house. Great location - just a 5 minute drive to Cruz Bay. Great views over Grand Cruz Bay. Residential quiet area. Highly recommend! Enjoy!!!!
