We loved our stay at the Lake View Chalet in Mt. Dora! The property was beautiful and the house was spacious and very clean! The beds were very comfortable as well. We enjoyed the beautiful views from the balcony. It was the perfect proximity to my family that lived nearby and right across the street from the lake. Truely a little slice of heaven! The house is just a short drive to downtown Mt. Dora which was fun to explore. We would absolutely stay here again!
We have visited and rented VRBO homes in Mt Dora for the past three years. This home has a beautiful view and a pool table. That is it! The home was not cleaned. As we entered the house it had a dirty musty smell. The floors were just mopped as they were damp so I took a paper towel to wipe it dry so no one would slip. It was black after just wiping 4 tiles.
These are some of the issues.
1. The home needs to be DEEP cleaned. The filters in the floors were black and moldy. This house NEEDS so much maintenance.
2. All of the furniture is old and dirty. We had to wash the one blanket that we found in an old washer and dryer to throw on the couch just to be able to sit on it.
3. There is NO security. The set of 5 sliding glass doors have no locks. Just boards in the filthy tracks to keep the doors from opening.
4. There are no screens on the sliders and takes 2 people to open them.
5. The pocket doors squill when you open and close them. It wakes everyone in the house.
6. There is NOT one towel bar in either bathroom. No where to hang a towel. The master bath shower has a rusty old soap dish on the floor as there is no other place to put soap or shampoo. Not enough towels.
7. There are only 2 small pots and miss matched silverware for 7.
8. Fireplace is not usable.
Therse are just a FEW of the issues. There are SO MANY MORE and not enough room to list them.
I would look for somewhere else to stay.
The worst was the SMELL!!! HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE!!
This home is great for a family or small group. The layout and location are awesome! Best part was dealing with the owner who was fantastic to work with.
We enjoyed our stay so much! A beautiful house, open and airy and so so clean! Everything we needed was there, and the host corresponded quickly.
What really set this experience apart for us was after check out. We left a personal item in the house, and the host immediately helped us coordinate retrieval. She was so kind, even though we created a headache for her!
It’s one thing to stay in a nice home on vacation, but once I know the hosts are good people, I’ll always go back to give them my business. You won’t be disappointed with this Vrbo!
Wonderfully located home with peaceful quiet setting and lake view. Very convenient to shopping, golf, and downtown Mt. Dora. Carolina was excellent in all communications. The house is great. We'll definitely return
The house was great! Very clean and welcoming. We really enjoyed the view of the lake and the split-level design of the home. The pool table & darts were a big hit! The house does show its age, though, in some features like the pocket doors not working in one bathroom and all the door hinges creaking like crazy (Vaseline will solve that pronto!) We also found ourselves wishing there were hooks for the hand towels & bath towels in all the bathrooms. However, these small things didn’t stop us from thoroughly enjoying our time at the home. It’s also in a great location for enjoying Mount Dora with a very quick & scenic 1.5ish mile drive to downtown. We would absolutely rent again!
We loved the house and the location of the house. A few minor things that need to be tended to. The bathroom downstairs needed to be cleaned much better. The windows are dirty and should be professionally cleaned. We didn’t like that weren’t ANY spices or anything available. No small containers of laundry detergent. I feel
these things should be available for weekend visitors. They were available at a place we just stayed at in Utah. Little things matter. Loved the view of Lake Dora.
The house is in a great location. It is a little dated and needs some painting and decorating.
No towel racks in any bathrooms or pictures. The 2 king beds are very hard need a foam mattress pad. Need some spoons to the silverware. In the evening. When watching TV, it
got chilly it would have been great to have a few
Throw blankets.
The pictures of the house online do not do it justice. It’s big!! Plenty of room for a large party and very comfortable. Love love love having a working fireplace. It’s a great house for a girls getaway or family gathering and so close to downtown Mt. Dora. Only con is the amount of stairs. It was fine for us, but not for older people as it could be a challenge. Suggestion…please install a handrail to the steps from the parking area. We will definitely be back!!
Stayed here for a quick golf trip. Right near the course and close to restaurants, etc. House was perfect and clean. Sat on the porch in the evening looking across the lake. Nice home.
My family and I rented this property for the 4th of July weekend. Very specious and beautiful Home. We will definitely be staying again the in the near future!
My group of 6 friends travels together often and this house was perfect for us- it is as shown and very comfortable for a group of friends or a family.
Carolina, the host, is very responsive, accommodating & lovely! There’s a reason she’s a Premier Host!
Unfortunately it rained all wknd but it didn’t dampen our fun! There are views of the lake from several rooms in the house as well as a couple of balconies. There is a small fire pit on the side of the house that we would have taken advantage of if the weather had allowed us to.
Modern kitchen, pool table, bedrooms & bathrooms upstairs and downstairs as well as a half bath on main floor offering some privacy for multiple guests, couples, etc.
House is just 5 min to downtown Mt Dora, which we loved…such a quaint, fun little town with great shopping, restaurants & entertainment.
Our party of 3 couples came here to celebrate our daughter's college graduation, and I am forever grateful we did. Every one of us loved it here--a superb environment indoors and outside, filled with thoughtful details and preparations. Beautifully furnished and equipped--kitchen is the bomb for those into cooking. The entire space creates the feeling of being outdoors from nearly every room. Stellar host and reception.
Our favorites:
Tons of space to be together, do things separately at the same time, or simply be apart, out of earshot, but within reach. Ideal !!!
Kayaking through the flowering lily pads, swimming in the lake
Listening to the brook in the woods beside the fire pit as it blazed under the starry night sky
Comfortable, large beds with views
Bird watching, birdsong, and admiring the lake, trees and skies at different times of day
Playing pool endlessly (people would just go there and clack! up it would start again, lol) and views from that level and its deck
Playing basketball against the private wooded area backdrop
Cozying up in comfy furniture so big you kinda get lost in there and laughing together at a silly movie on the big screen
The cute town of Mount Dora is super close but we didn't make it there until after checkout! Plenty of parking and an awesome olive oil shop!
Thank you to our generous hosts. What a dream stay.

Great Potential
We own and personally manage 5 vacation rental properties on a lake in Michigan with 47 acres of woods & trails...with 11 years under our belts we well know what it's like to be a vacation rental house homeowner.
This property could earn 5-star reviews if Carolina the homeowner would invest in correcting its shortcomings (some are safety hazards), as the house and grounds have the potential to be a really special vacation spot.
In our view homeowner Carolina needs to invest:
1) Replace all of the sliding glass doors to the deck and driveway - they are so old that some of them took two arms to open them, and our wives could barely manage. They also do not close tightly, so hard to keep out insects and the cute little lizards.
2) Do not list Ping Pong Table on the listing when there is not one; don't expect your Guests to drive somewhere to pick up a conversion top for the pool table (which the homeowner asked of us).
3) Increase # of pots, pans, large glasses, etc. Provide larger coffee mugs.
4) Fix the ice maker in the freezer compartment.
5) Replace the dangerous exterior stone staircase from upper parking level to the rear patio...this is an accident waiting to happen Have handrails on BOTH sides of all exterior steps.
6) Replace the sections of asphalt driveway near the house that is full of tripping hazards...buckled asphalt, pot holes.
7) Add a handrail from sliding door to the driveway since there is a step down that is unexpected.
8) Clear away much more brush at the kayak launch area...a little work will make it look like the owner cares.
9) For $3,000 per week rental fee, we do not think it's too much to ask that Cable TV channels be provided.
10) In advance send Guests with detailed arrival instructions. - we were never sent any.
11) Provide Guests with info on area stores, restaurants, things to do, etc. None were provided
112) Provide Guests with an email address for the owner...limiting written communications to texts or via Vrbo.com is not customer-centric.
Our group would happily return to this property if the above repairs and other shortcomings are remedies. We wish the homeowner Carolina all the best.

Pros - view from the porch is lovely. Kids enjoyed the pool table. Large house that provided lots of room for kids doing virtual schooling. Cons - Smell. The home is older and has a distinct smell especially in the kitchen near the cabinets.
The home has many windows to open but there are no screens so would get buggy at night. Kitchen needs additional basic items to be able to serve a family of 4 or greater. Lacked serving dishes and decent sized pots, pans, strainers for larger meals. I mentioned these items to the owner and she said she would take care of it. I would review these things before renting in the future.
The serene, beautiful setting was just what my family needed on our short trip to Mount Dora. The beds were comfortable and pool table added some fun. We spent most of our time drinking wine and talking on the decks. We also loved exploring the yard, kayak launch and playing basketball.
