The casita was perfect for 2 couples with each bedroom having its own bathroom. The decor was beautiful, and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The area was peaceful and picturesque with the Chama River and mountains. Beautiful sunsets. We were able to visit Christ in the Desert Monastery, Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, Puye cliff dwellings, Los Alamos and Santa Fe. Our favorite was Christ in the Desert Monastery with the Gregorian chant mass. We definitely hope to come back as there are many more places to explore. Tami and Jeff are wonderful hosts (responsive and friendly) and allowed us to view Jeff's trophy room which was very impressive. We also loved Lola, their dog. Fantastic!
Perfectly situated with stunning beauty all around!
This is the perfect place to enjoy the spectacular landscapes the area has to offer. The home is beatifully decorated and well stocked from dishes, seasonings and cookware to incredibly comfortable beds. The fireplace was warm and cozy and hottub very relaxing! Best of all it drew us out to explore Abiquiu, a town I may have notexplored as our origunal destination was Santa Fe. If you are considering this Casita I say go for it! You will not be disappointed.
This is a great casita, well stocked and very very comfortable. It has numerous place to sit outside and enjoy the view and the river running. Tami was a wonderful host and Lola, their pup is very sweet and friendly. I plan on returning!!
What gorgeous views we see from Viento del Rio! The casita is perfect in every way - location, comfort, amenities. Tami is a gracious host, making sure all our needs are met. Definitely, a place I will return to. Thank you for the memories!
Abiqui, NM is a stunningly beautiful area - and the Viento del Rio is, too. Situated on the Chama River, the casita has just about everything one would need for a perfect getaway. Sitting by the fire - either inside or out - is the epitome of relaxing. And the stars at night - one almost feels like you can reach out and touch them.
Ideal. That’s the best word to describe this delightful Casita just outside of Abiqui. Hostess Tami has taken the time and invested the energy to create a small home that is comfortable, convenient, and very well appointed. From the very smallest amenities—such as COVID test kits—to the broad and beautiful panoramic views of the Rio Chama and O’Keeffe’s beloved Cerro Pedernal, this is a perfect site for a few days in New Mexico. There were four of us and the space was very accommodating. Coffees, spices, fine beds and bedding, soft towels, and softly scented soaps and lotions nicely complimented the artistic and tasteful décor in the Casita. Will we go back? As soon as we can!
The casita was well appointed for a carefree weekend stay. Little touches throughout made a huge difference. The decor and linens were luxurious and the whole place was spotless. We can’t wait to return.
We had a great time
In a beautiful casita. Very good communication during our stay. Even brought us more coffee pods part way through. Would strongly recommend this place and would love to stay again
A wonderful 5 day getaway of peace, relaxation and beauty. The casita is a sweet, well appointed space. You are surrounded by nature and beautiful views. You can hike at Plaza Blanca just down the road. You can head to the reservoir and kayak or swim. Or you can just relax at the casita and soak in the private hot tub and watch the sunrise and sunset. The hosts (Tami, Jeff and Lola) are lovely peeps! They are easy to communicate with in case you need anything. Will definitely be back.
Itt is absolutely beautiful property. The house was pristine, the hosts were wonderful, and the setting was gorgeous. We were hoping that the property was as nice as the pictures, and it exceeded our expectations. Worth it!
This casita was a perfect place for a weekend getaway exploring the Abiquiu area. If you are looking for a quiet, serene, beautiful place to relax, this house checks all the boxes. The casita sits on a beautiful property on the Charma river, and the hosts have created an oasis that really feels special. We appreciated the little touches to make the casita comfortable and charming. The hosts were very responsive and helpful with advice for enjoying the surrounding area. We would love to return.
What an unexpectedly wonderful casita!
Located on a very quiet property, with the owners' house in sight, we could stroll down to the pretty Chama river or over to visit the owners' horses, sit on our front porch, hot tub or even in our living room and see beautiful views of the mountains and the top of Pedernal, hike up to an overview of Plaza Blanca. And of course see the AMAZING number of stars at night! Or we could drive ten minutes to Abiquiu/Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center/Bode's General Store, or about 20-25 minutes to Ghost Ranch, or about 75 minutes to Taos....
Everything in the casita is thoughtfully chosen for functionality and beauty; other than a washing machine one has everything needed for a long stay! We especially loved the prints throughout the casita!
Excellent communication with the owners, who responded very quickly to questions and requests. They provided much-appreciated recommendations for activities and restaurants nearby.
Highly recommended for a peaceful stay in the beautiful high-desert country.
My husband and I couldn't have picked a better spot to celebrate our 20th anniversary! Viento del Rio is a beautiful, well-equipped casita in a gorgeous, peaceful setting — and Tami and Jeff (and of course, Lola!) were exceptional hosts.
We enjoyed hiking at Ghost Ranch and at Plaza Blanca, which is just down the road. The town of Abiquiu is full of wonderful little gems and everyone was so lovely. If you like day trips, the casita is about an hour's drive from Santa Fe and just over an hour to Taos.
We loved watching the sun rise and set from the casita, and we were blown away by the night sky! We would absolutely come back again!
We enjoyed so many features of this beautiful Abiquiu casita. Set with peaceful views of the Rio Chama and the surrounding landscape, Viento Del Rio is beautifully furnished, charming interior details and décor, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, cozy fireplace and a hot tub under the stars. Coming back from the day’s explorations was something to look forward to! Highlights around the immediate area, inspired by the host’s suggestion list, included an easy hiking the Pouschinge Ruins Trail (with a spectacular view of the valley; you can even see the casita!), and walking O Keeffe’s White Place/Plaza Blanco, a cathedral of fabulous rock formations (permission and a gate key code must be obtained from the land owner, Dar al Islam, a quick email away.) All in all, our stay was wonderful. Tami and Jeff (and dog Lola!) were attentive hosts. Looking forward to returning!
We were there for a few days in January. Some snow and cold, so we very much enjoyed fireplace, hot tub and beautiful landscape. Hosts made sure everything was as advertised. Would definitely return!
This property was all we needed and more. The hosts were great at checking on us periodically (although we needed nothing, the house is well-outfitted). We came for peace and a serene getaway, we didn’t even think about television or phones while we explored. I painted the yellow cottonwoods on the Chama River right in front of our house! Highlight: seeing the Milky Way in a truly dark sky…while in a hot tub. Thanks for everything!
You know what they say about 'location.' Well this was a perfect one for us, near to Abiquiu favorites like Bodes and Ghost Ranch. The accommodations were as reported, and then plenty of added amenities. Our hosts were most helpful and if it wasn't already provided willing to provide the needed item.
Tami and Jeff were wonderful hosts with their cozy casita., which had everything we needed. The views from the casita were stunning and peaceful. Getting to the sights nearby was easy, especially with the information provided in their welcome letter. Will return to stay at the casita again.
The casita was very much as described in the listing. Jeff and Tami were very gracious and Jeff even brought over an Apple phone charger that we had forgotten. The environment was very peaceful and enjoyable. We will hopefully stay here again!
The Casita is very unique and well appointed. Very peaceful location surrounded by nature. The hosts are also awesome and we were in communication anytime it was needed. We’ll definitely be back.
