Its ok. Probably needs several thousand dollars to bring it up to date. The property is very dark due to location of several trees this isn't helped by the lack of lights. The area is stunning we loved millinocket.
Home was just as listed. Perfect size for 3-4 people. Quiet neighborhood, comfortable accomodations close to Baxter State Park. Property manager very gracious and accomodating when I made an error in our departure date. I would definitely stay again.
This home was just what we needed after long days at the park, easy access and comfortable. It is very reasonably priced. If you want fancy, this is not the place. If you want warm. Comfortable with necessary amenities - great option.
Rated full marks on this stay because Dave listed everything out perfectly in the description of his property. First, it should be noted that the Millinocket region is not full of luxury accommodations. They don't pretend to be, and neither does Dave. He has a quaint house with everything you could need on a quick or extended stay. Second, Dave provides an honest and comprehensive listing. If you want more from your trip that is not listed, you'll probably want a different property. If the listing has everything your party needs, then Dave's house is the place to be. It felt comfortable and welcoming, and the neighbors were great. If I find myself in Millinocket again, I will consider this house.
The house was ease enough to get to all the hikes we wanted to do. Grocery store in town was ample. Felt safe running a few miles one morning in the neighborhood.

Was a little outdated
The house was a little disappointing for the outdated electrical with little to no light switches and having to use pull cord ceiling lights and or lamps not so much a big issue but my daughter had a issue with not having switches and having to walk through a dark unfamiliar house to find the pull cord. The mattress in what we consider the master bedroom was as solid as a box spring mattress maybe not an issue for some people, we just are used to a bit more padding in our mattress. The coffee maker had used coffee filter that had moldy coffee still in it. No air conditioning wasn’t a big deal due to the cooler weather during our visit. And the only other issue was the grass not being cut down so we had to walk through tall grass and duck under low lying branches in the dark due to no lighting in the back of the house. Small things like that that would have made the stay more enjoyable. Would be an excellent rental if some upgrades to the lighting and attention to detail.
If spending a day exploring Baxter State Park or otherwise outside, the value proposition offered by this property is unmatched. The floors appeared newly installed, and the furniture was in impeccable condition. We were able to use the kitchen without incident for a hearty meal, and we bought some of the ingredients in a market walking distance from the residence. Importantly, we needed a good night’s rest for each of the evenings we stayed, and the beds had the requisite firmness to protect my lower back and the linens were clean. The residence was easy to access off of a main boulevard, and both the washer and dryer worked well and took care of our immediate needs after a long hike that occurred in some rain. We definitely would book this residence again!
Quiet neighborhood. Really close to many outdoor activities. Beautiful scenery and towns. Felt like a home away from home. The property owner was very prompt and easy to communicate with. I’d definitely recommend this for a nice quiet getaway or a small family event. Big backyard with fire pit. Fully equipped kitchen (just no blender). Five Stars!

Property accommodated my large family and was very much affordable for the space offered. Communication between the host and myself was easy and questions were answered instantly. We would stay here again!
It's a nothing fancy rental, but has clean sheets, comfortable couches, and a stocked kitchen. Stayed here for the weekend of the Millinocket Marathon and had a wonderful time

It was ok
I understand that this place isn’t luxury, but it could use a good deep clean. Like previous reviewer‘s have said there was trash filling the bin outside. The house is just dusty and musty and in need of a good cleaning. Otherwise it’s a decent house and a nice neighborhood and served us for the short time we needed to be there.

Should’ve stayed in the truck
I booked this property to break up my week long visit to the Baxter area. I spent the first of my week without water, plumbing or electrical camping in my truck. This property made me long to be back in the woods.
Upon checking in I was met by the awful smell of garbage which was so kindly left on the porch from the previous renter. All appliances were dirty and older than I am. I had to clean the stove and all pots/pans prior to use (and then again after because you’re expected to do all your dishes)
The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet was definitely not cleaned, especially the rim. There was used bars of soap and half empty shampoo bottles in there was well.
The washer and dryer barely worked. I actually spent an hour just trying to get it to work.
Initially the host was responsive and apologetic. Via phone offered to refund my stay as I had wasted much of my time being disappointed by the property. The next day he offered me $100 or to return to his property for another stay.
I will not be returning, and I urge others not to waste their money. I felt I was taken advantage of due to the lack of rentals so close to Baxter State park.
There is NO large backyard, or child play area: the yard is tiny and unkept at best.
The neighborhood is less than desirable. Looking out the front windows, you will see broken down cars, boats and trash.
This isn’t the Maine get-away I was expecting.
Don’t waste your money!!!!!
This house isn't the most Glamorous spot but it fit what I needed it for perfectly. I was in the area for work so I needed a quick, clean, and convenient place to stay which is exactly what it was. The house had all the amenities I needed and was in a fairly quiet neighborhood. You can tell the current owners have put a lot of work into it so far to make it homey and cleaner than the houses around it.
5 stars for the price, this is not a fancy spot, just as described in ad. House had everything we needed which admittedly wasn't much.
It was perfect for 3 guys staying for a weekend to hike Katahdin. Would stay again!

Charming & Quaint
The owner was very responsive to messages, appreciated that. I found the place charming. I agree with some of the other reviews as to fresh sheets being needed. Ours had pet hair upon them, so we washed them. We did wash dishes, too, as we went along. Though it's noted it sleeps 6, one option is a recliner which should be noted in the description. I am not sure if the shower would support that amount of hot water, should there be more guests, as noted it can host. We enjoyed the space! It is an older place, as much of Millinocket has housing wise, yet that leads to its' charm, I felt. It worked great for my needs while in the area. I would return. One small thing to note, being in a neighborhood, we wished the living room had window coverings offering privacy, versus sheers. Sweet little yard, enjoyable neighborhood to walk in.

Good price, no frills
This rental met our needs for a place to sleep while we visited family in the area. We would stay there again.
This place was easy to locate and check in. Love that there was laundry and roku, but the amenities in the kitchen can be improved. Squirrels/mice in the walls kept us awake at night
This is not for your girls away weekend. The location was good for hiking Baxter Park but there were a few things that need updated the biggest one being the towels. They looked very old and more like a towel you would wash the car with then than have for guests to use. As others have mentioned they could use new pillows also. Otherwise an okay place to stay so you can be close to the park but it is definitely no frills.

This place is a two levels old house. It has a great location, close to Baxter state park, restaurants and grocery stores can be found nearby. You can also find almost everything you need in the house. The second floor is an attic. If you are taller than 190 cm (6 ft 3 in), and you would be bothered by cannot standing straight, this place might not be a good choice for you. Overall is good, recommend to Baxter hikers.
