Thanksgiving Disappointment
The rental was easy enough to find. A cabin in the woods. The steps going down to the front door were slippery and covered in moss making navigating with suitcases challenging. We were given a door code for entry. It always took several tries to unlock the door. (Better instructions to light up the entire keypad would have been helpful).
The house was a bit of a mystery with alternating water pressure in each room. The fridge was filled with used condiments and one kitchen drawer was filled with opened food items. The cabinet under the sink in the kitchen was very dirty. We chose to stay in the upstairs bedroom. There was no reading lamp by the bed. We found one in the bedroom two floors down and moved it for our stay. Things were grimy and a bit greasy. The floor in the eating area had quite a tilt on it. The door lock on the back door looked like it had been installed by a beaver with sharp teeth. Just too many things that did not impress us.
I definitely would not stay here again.
Booked this house for a wedding my friends and I were in town for. The location is awesome having 3 different decks and a dock makes it perfect for any size group to have fun and enjoy their time together
Stayed here with a group of friends for a bachelor party. The house was clean, there was plenty of bedding, plenty of cooking utensils so that we can cook our own meals, plenty of spices, and more than enough boats and paddle boards for all of us to go on the river and have a good time.
Very comfy, would stay here again.
Great place, house had lots of paper products, well eqipped kitchen, sufficient towels.
Need a few sharp knives!!
Enjoyed the fire pitand dock.
Had fun in kayaks!
This was a cozy place that had enough space for my co-workers and I to relax in after a long day of workshops. Although it could use a little updating...it was perfect for our needs. And the view of the river was unbeatable.
Perfect relaxing stay right on river. Nice peaceful location. Used the Kayaks a few times. Easy in and out and communicating with host. Clean and well equipped. Little quirky bedroom layout, and decking and outdoor steps could use upgrade; but great for price. Would definitely stay again.
I had a family wedding in Canby and we rented this house for the bridal party/ out of town guests. It was a perfect way to share the best parts of Oregon while still being close to the city!! Plenty of beds/ bathrooms. The deck was the best part!
Dreamy treehouse feel with gorgeous river views! We’ll be back!
This home felt like staying in a treehouse! There are expansive decks and balconies on all three levels surrounded by trees and singing birds with a view of the sparkling river in your own backyard! We enjoyed eating meals out on the deck and drinking our morning tea in the living room where an entire wall of windows brings the outside feeling right in! Our toddler loved playing at the little playground out back and our teens claimed the hammock swing chairs on the covered porch for reading and naps! Location was great- close to shopping and dining and only a 30 minute drive to Portland. House layout worked well for our family: kids upstairs sharing a bathroom and parents downstairs. Besides the view there was so much more to love... Wine and chocolate waiting for us on the counter, games available to play, plenty of good quality bath products and extra towels for our large family, a countertop ice maker full of fresh ice to use, and extra folding chairs so we had plenty of seating available for not only our family but grandparents visiting as well! Although we didn't need it, the kitchen was fully stocked. While there are steps to the front door from the driveway and sets of stairs inside to get to the bedrooms on each level, they didn’t bother us. Our only complaints were awful lumpy pillows on the downstairs bed, slight mildew smell in the downstairs bathroom, and no childproof lock on the door to the downstairs deck. Would love a latch up high to keep toddlers in!
We had a lovely weekend at this property. The neighborhood was quiet and the homes location on the river banks makes it feel a bit like a tree house. It was relaxing and refreshing. The outdoor areas of the property are in need of maintenance and clean up, while the indoors areas could use a deep clean. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay.

Okay experience
Our stay at the Stafford River House was enjoyable, yet marred by disappointments with its upkeep. Despite its potential, the property seemed neglected, evident in overgrown outdoor areas and poorly maintained water equipment (paddle board was only halfway inflated and pedal boat was halfway submerged in the river). Inside, cleanliness was lacking, with broken chairs in the kitchen, dated appliances, and a molded scrub brush provided in the kitchen sink. The bedroom layout lacked a master suite, and the limited towels provided were less than ideal. The inconvenience of a washer outlet being locked by the owner/management to prevent use compounded our frustration. Nonetheless, the property manager's kindness and communication were commendable, allowing us a late check-out amidst our flight delay. While our family time was cherished, the property's condition didn't justify its cost.
Cute home located in a beautiful neighborhood. Can’t beat the waterfront location, and we had so much fun hanging out on the multiple decks and utilizing the paddle board and kayaks. Wish the listing specified the layout of the house more clearly. You have to go through the “kids room” upstairs to get to one of the bigger bedrooms, and the upstairs bathroom is located off of the kids room. Might be awkward depending on your group, but overall it was a super fun stay! :)
Spacious, amenities exactly as described, very quiet & peaceful location. Host very responsive and easy to communicate with. House layout a little unusual - not prohibitive - just unusual. Three levels - downstairs Qn bed w/ combo laundry & full bath; main level has no BRs but a full bath; upstairs has 2 BRs with 4 beds (Kg, full, 2 twins (bunks) but only a half bath. Whoever is in Kg BR has to go down stairs to bathroom. Wasn’t a huge deal for our group but may be for some.
We loved the beautiful location on the hillside overlooking the river, thee paddle board and kayaks, and the friendly residential neighborhood for quiet walks in the morning. We especially liked the nearby Luscher Farm, where we walked their wandering paved paths, picked blackberries, and made a delicious pie. We saw a few minor items that could be improved, but we'll recommend those changes to the owner.
Great location. Adore the river and seeing what floats by, being animal or human. Loved the guy with a “motorized boat dock” with grandma out front in a rocking chair! Location is great for fun at Lake Oswego , Aurora and Portland.
