**History of The Awosting Club**
In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, raccoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge.

The Bradley family still lives on the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

Cute

First of all, super cool location. You can hear the waterfalls and the creek down below you and the tents are perched on basically a cliffside, which was very cool and picturesque. The tent windows face out towards the woods and they're all spaced fairly far apart, so while you're inside you're not like, looking out at the neighboring tents, which was nice. The fire pit is pretty sweet too, very big and heavy-duty, and the little deck the tent was on was super nice to sit and drink morning coffee on. This was our first time 'glamping' so I'm not sure what it's usually like, but basically it was just like normal camping only in a huge, gorgeous tent with a real bed, a mini fridge and an AC. If you want to cook or make coffee or anything you'd still have to bring a stove or something (adding an electric kettle to the tent would make this a lot easier though!) and there's no potable water, so we brought our own. The bathroom is a latrine outside which was totally fine for the summer but I bet it's pretty cold to use it in the winter. We'd definitely come back though! It was so hot and muggy while we were there that we didn't get to explore the trails on the property too much, but it's cool that they connect to state park land.

Best Vacation In Years

I seriously wasn't sure what to expect and I certainly wasn't expecting to find the perfection that I did. The dome itself was stunning, bed comfortable, swing was swinging, the fireplace gave just the right amount of ambiance. The fridge was the perfect size and the campfire pit was great. The grill took a bit of work to manage but that was user error. The check-in process and staff were great, and the hike to the falls was beautiful. Definiately a 10/10 and all my friends who saw my photos on IG were immediately asking for more info. Will be staying again... and again... and hopefully again.

Peaceful Retreat

Had such a nice stay here. The dome was so cute and the decor and amenities were thoughtfully curated. They also offered a ton of additional amenities for low cost. The property manager was very friendly, informative, and accommodating. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful. The domes are very close to each other and were occupied so it was a bit awkward and intrusive at some points. However, I would 100% come back. I also really appreciated that they are dog friendly.
