About this property

Summer Camp includes a beautiful craftsman beach house with a bunkhouse. The main house includes a comfortable great room for hanging-out, a cozy dining nook, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bunkhouse has 8 bunks.

We like to put the kids and their friends in the bunkhouse and use the main house for the adults. This works out great for both the adults and the kids.

The bunkhouse has a dramatic vaulted ceiling, oversized french doors and craftsman wood paneling throughout. The cottage and bunkhouse are connected by a spacious deck. Summer Camp is two blocks from the beach and five blocks from town. Curl up and enjoy the quiet by the wood stove after a brisk walk on the beautiful beach or hang out on the rear-deck with family and friends and enjoy a barbecue on the gas grill.

…have spent several weeks relaxing & having a wonderful time here at Summer Camp in Manzanita. This is our second visit to Manzanita and we just love it. It is still as quaint as ever and has one of the best beaches along this coast, we think. We will miss Summer Camp and the cool decks & bunkhouse where the kids have hung-out a lot! It has been so relaxing here and we've spent a lot of time reading books and playing all the board games -- including a new one my son now wants to buy 'Settlers of Catan'. Lots of walks on the beach, boogie boarding and hanging-out. We've done several hikes and recommend Neahakanne Mountain on a clear day, Falcon Cover and Ecola Stake Park.

Wonderful stay!

My husband and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location and home for our stay in Manzanita. Easy access to the beach, the sweet downtown, and all of the activities we had in mind for our visit. Cozy and very well-appointed home. The bunkhouse is so cool! Highly recommend.

We love this home, it checks all our boxes. Great neighborhood, friendly neighbors, easy walk to the beach (no huge sand dunes to walk over to get there) fully fenced back yard with nice deck that our corgis love to sun on. Very relaxing- we have visited a couple of times now and will definitely be back again next year!

Perfect Manzanita Home!

Manzanita Summer Camp

We have stayed here before mainly because of the bunkhouse for the kids and a good place for keeping the dog from roaming. Kitchen is well outfitted along with some condiments being available. Nice walk to the beach and not overly long. Easy walk to Laneda Ave or downtown. Great breakfast at Wanda's in Nehalem and dinner at the Big Wave Café in Manzanita. Manzanita is our favorite beach town.

2nd time around

The summerhouse will always be a special cozy place in our memories. This was our second time back. The experience way different then the first all due to weather. Had a full on experience with a sneaker wave. Quite scary but we also had a bad storm come through and we had no power for 24 hours and everything shut down. The summerhouse kept us warm fireplace and with the propane stove feed. Love this special cabin and the memories we have made there.

Family Fun at Summer Camp

We visited Summer Camp with two families. A total of nine people with kids hanging in age from 7 to 18. We had a fantastic stay. The kids all loved the bunkhouse, and being able to stay away from the adults. The built in table in the kitchen fit everyone around it. The location really can't be beat, just a short walk down to the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed for meals. We would definitely stay again with a large group. It was perfect.

Great house - close to beach and a nice walk to town.

This is a great house and was very comfortable for a big group with 4 kids. We rented it with the plan to bring dogs, but ended up leaving them at home. House was cleaner and nicer than most rentals and didn’t smell like a pet friendly place. Outdoor shower was great for keeping sand outside. The pin drop in the listing made it seem closer to town than it was, but after the initial confusion it was a nice short .3mi walk to the action. The kitchen is well stocked with tools and dishes, but bring any cooking supplies (olive oil, sugar, etc). Would definitely rent again!

Perfect Place!

First of all, having the bunkhouse for a two parents, two kids, and two dogs was perfect! Made everything so much more manageable. We all ‘hung out’ on the deck or in the main house, we my husband and I having our private space upstairs. And, I can’t say enough about all the amenities in the kitchen. I love to bake, and we cooked most our meals and the kitchen is well stocked for both. And such a quick walk right down to the beach or into town. Have already rented it for next year!

Comfortable home, close to beach

My family stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed Summer Camp tremendously. This home is thoughtfully laid out and well equipped to host a large family or group. We especially appreciated the comfortable beds - Peg, bless you for making sure your home has nice beds!!!! Ring in the New Year

With kids and dogs, we had so much room and comfort, yet the house was intimate. We had short walks to the beach where we had days of sports and fun as well as a campfire at night. And this was in the winter!! Such a fun house and beautiful surroundings. It was a great way to ring in 2023!!

Best VRBO stay ever!

great place for kids and another family. Kids stayed in bunk house and loved it. The location was amazing and honestly i was prepared to walk a ways to the beach, but was surprised at how close the beach is to the house. Owner was amazing even calling when my kids struggled with the Wifi password, which was a misspelling mistake on my kids part, but this is not my kids review....lol but honestly this was a great stay and 100% as advertised, only beach was closer (about 2 blocks) then i imagined by reviews and descriptions. Thanks for everything

Cozy home in the woods

We chose "Summer Camp" for our small friend reunion as it looked like a great place to spend some time. We were so happy with our choice! It was mid-November, and the weather was mostly misty, sprinkling, or pouring for the majority of our stay, but we had a fire in the woodstove, plenty of board games, and stocked up at the grocery store on the way in. When the rain did let up, it was a quick walk down to the beach to watch the huge waves come in. The beds were so comfortable, and listening to the rain on the roof at night was perfection. We would absolutely stay here again, as it was a nice and quiet location, yet a short drive to Cannon Beach. We appreciated being away from the crowds. "Summer Camp" is a great getaway!

Great stay for families/groups with (older?) kids

We had a great stay at Summer Camp Manzanita. The bunkhouse was a very fun experience for my teen daughter and her small group of friends. We have stayed at this cabin over the years and after this recent stay have decided that we’ve “aged out” of this rental now that we have a teenager and a good night’s sleep is becoming a higher priority. The cookware was not in the best shape, the beds in the main house were uncomfortable, as was the bedding and pillows, and the upstairs bathrooms felt a little dark and cramped (never bothered me in prior years). This is still an incredible option for families or groups with kids (old enough to be unsupervised in the bunkhouse) and with the easily walkable proximity to the beach. The porch and deck are great features too although the small yard in the back has seen much better days. The outdoor shower was perfect after coming home from the beach.

Two families with lots of littles

We had a wonderful time! The layout of the house was perfect two families with children. Each set of parents was able to have their own bedroom space and bathroom on different floors, and the kids had their own space and bathroom which was lovely. I feel like it's fairly clear from the listing, but the bunk house is disconnected from the main house. We just set up a old school baby monitor, worked perfect for our kids ages 3-7. The only issue we had was with the internet occasionally not working out in the bunk house for the kids' TV. I would recommend bringing a backup device like a tablet that can play movies with an HDMI connection to avoid this issue. The street in front of the house is perfect for kids riding back and forth on bikes, not too busy. Those fews cars that did drive by tended to be driving slowly through the neighborhood. Lots of friendly people walking around. Had a lovely stay, looking forward to returning!

Beautiful weekend away

We had a wonderful weekend in Manzanita, with hiking, cards, laughter, and puzzles. The “summer camp” was a perfect location for a group of 10; the built in table fit us all and the sounds of the ocean serenaded us throughout our stay. The host was especially gracious to us and volunteered to mail back an item we left there. Highly recommended!

We wanted to focus our time at the coast on the natural beauty and time spent playing with friends and family. We spend our time on the beach, on our bikes, on the deck and playing cards or board games. There are a few cute shops and delicious meals to be had in Manzanita, just on a small scale that lets you appreciate the care with which the proprietors have chosen their wares and foodstuffs. Manzanita is truly a pearl in the midst of the rugged Oregon coast.
