Family Trip

Loved this property. The view was insane. We enjoyed watching whales from the back patio. Horse was clean, enough sleeping spaces and blankets for everyone. Plenty of towels. Anything not provided is accurately listed so you can be fully prepared. Location is perfect. Close enough to a store to pick up anything you need and far enough away to feel like you’re on an island. 10/10 recommend and hope to visit again. Property manager was fabulous and so helpful with anything needed.

Edge of the Ocean Estate

Our stay at this property was a wonderful experience. The ocean views were spectacular and everything was quiet/peaceful during our time enjoying our stay. Many thanks for a great vacation!

Wanted to love it

We had high hopes for this property but ultimately the price point is not justified given the state of this property and furnishings. It was clean and the views were spectacular. Beyond that, we found the many doors either not in working order or very difficult to open. Main entrance goes to bedroom. No screens or air conditioning or heat (just space heaters), no fans, lots of light switches that did nothing, an old kitchen with worn out cooking equipment, old/stained carpeting, loose handles on kitchen cabinets and shower fixtures, fake flowers and odd mismatched furniture, patio was a mess - giant nail sticking out/hammered down with a little flag on it, construction netting everywhere, overgrown landscaping with no outdoor seating, I could keep going. 2 stars because the views were incredible - lots of whale sightings and sea otters playing below, pelicans, hummingbirds.

Stunning Views But Mice

The property was accurately described as dated but beautiful location. And stunning it was! We arrived and the home seemed well cleaned, plenty of linens, along with several nice touches. After stepping into the sunroom, we immediately wanted to rebook...until the next morning when we woke up to mouse droppings on kitchen counter. It can happen and we understand that but we had produce nibbled on, droppings on counter each morning, and a mouse in the oven. There was no cleaning supplies left either so we had to purchase lysol wipes, throw away food, and only eat out. It was not ideal, especially at the price per night. We shared photos with the host and were offered 125 refund for 4 night stay, which was pitiful and never refunded to us. If the mice are eradicated, this place is worth it. Otherwise beware.

Beautiful Views

As others have mentioned this property is all about the views & location. The views are amazing! The home is very spacious & well equipped. However it is in need of a remodel, which it sounds like will be done soon. There was orange netting around the grounds during our stay due to this upcoming project. The home is older & things are looking worn (broken & bent blinds, a loose faucet handle in the 2nd bedroom & odd shower head placement in master jacuzzi tub). The layout of the 2nd & 3rd bedrooms are also odd. The surrounding grounds were overgrown, but you can see that there were once trails going to a lower area with chairs. Both tubs could use hand rails as they were quite large & very slippery. We had some issues, but the host was easy to communicate with & responsive.

Incredible Views

The house is conveniently located between Big Sur and Carmel by the Sea. It was incredibly spacious and the views were amazing! Keep a lookout for otters down below. Like previous reviews expressed, it was very outdated. There was also too much chlorine in the hot tub to be user friendly.

This place had Everything we expected for a place we wanted to spend time with family..We enjoyed it so much it was absolutely perfect..The pictures are exactly the same and the experience was amazing

Incredible Location

We were three couples and in this case it was impossible for a third couple to walk through the bedroom of another couple to use the bathroom. The third couple slept in the sun room sofa bed with access to the half bathroom. This was not ideal. The description should be more truthful and explain that there are two adult bedrooms and a third attached room for children. The third room has no mirror, closet or dresser. However even with this major hiccup, and even though the home is dated, we enjoyed it immensely because the location was priceless. We took so many photos of the ocean and the migrating birds. We have been vacationing together for a September/October weekend for 33 years and this was our favorite house to date.

Amazing views

The first thing when you walk in is how amazing the views are. Living/Kitchen space was super relaxing and gave room for everyone to spread out. We were there for an event and so did not spend tons of time at the house but for anyone looking for an easy weekend getaway between Big Sur and Carmel-on-the-Sea, would recommend this property.

Great location but older property

The location of the property was great - right on the ocean. The team was excellent and responsive, particularly Dominic. The house was clean and comfortable. However, the property sis old and dated. I see the Story Poles so hopefully they renovate it.

Stunning Views

Spectacular views!! Great location, close to scenic hiking areas and Carmel. Clean, comfortable beds. Sunroom was great spot for coffee. House, especially the kitchen, outdoor fire table area could use some TLC. Would have been nice to be able to use the indoor fireplace on chilly nights. Perfect place to gather with girlfiends, we enjoyed our stay!

Messy, Old, Outdated

2 stars for amazing view. Booked house for a family trip with 2 children under 4. Arrived and noticed garbage bins overfilling wiht dirty diapers. All the doors were unlocked which was very concerning. Found a towel on the floor by the dryer with human waste on it. Carpets need to be replaced. Kitchen drawers and cabinets are extremely outdated. I contacted the host immediately when I noticed the garbage bins were overfill and he promised me that by the next morning they would be cleaned up. After spending the day in Carmel we returned around 2pm to the garbage bins still full. I didn't notice the dirty towel until late into the 2nd day of our stay. I think the view is amazing. Hot tub was a great plus. But if the previous guest left the place a mess, then clean it up before the next guest arrives. Don't leave human waste covered towels in the house and overfill bins of dirty diapers that the previous guest didn't care about putting in garbage bags as the first thing the new guest sees as they drive into the place. Would not recommend this place. As an elite marriott member I expect hotel like conditions and the inside of this place did not come close to that.

While the views are spectacular, the house is in need of a complete renovation and updating and furnishing. It does not meet the standards and expectations for the money. Moreover, this is really a two bedroom home. The so called third bedroom is inaccessible unless you pass through the second bedroom and is not appropriate for a third couple.

Perfect stay

Perfect for two couples. Unbelievable views, great house and Value. Comfortable beds, best Hot Tub view and house was well stocked. Some of the most beautiful hikes with in minutes of house. Will most definitely try to stay here again.

Definitely Gorgeous and Almost Perfect with some Issues

Gorgeous house with million dollar view. Unfortunately the hot tub water irritated everyone in the house and we all had welts on our skin. We asked to service the tub and never heard a response during our stay, so the one feature we wanted to use we couldn't.

Location, Location, Location

If I could I would really give this a 4.5 rating. This is my 2nd time renting the place. I love it. The house is a bit quirky but the beauty of the place makes it worth it. We had a couple of issues but Dominic, our customer service contact was the best. I would give Dominic a 10-star rating. A couple of things to be aware of, the house is dated. The beds are great. Easy to find. Hot tub amazing especially with the views. Saw whales in the distance. A mother whale and a baby fairly near the shore. Watched an otter enjoying his hunting for 4-days. The wild life is beautiful to watch. Amazing views from every window. If possible, will rent again.

Disappointment

Although the views and location were amazing, the overall condition of the property was far below even average. Make shift extension cords, heaters, lighting, furnishings, landscaping, and kitchen, we’re closer to camping than what the description and photos depicted. Couldn’t recommend this property to anyone at any price. Total remodel is in order.

Opportunity!

Can’t beat the view, the hot tub or the location. I knew from the reviews that the house was dated however there were some basic things such as a huge missing bath tile (someone forgot to actually grout the tile) that really should be taken care of at this price point. Linens, etc. were great. There is no central heat so bring lots of warm clothes if there is no sun! Lots of space heaters which helped but house feels like an electricians worst nightmare so we were skeptical on having them on too long.
