We stayed here over 4th of July weekend. We booked about a week before, so there were limited options available in the area. The owner contacted me via phone the same day I inquired about the property. She described the cabin and facilities accurately, although I would say the cabin is not as off the beaten path as she lead me to believe.
We stayed in the "Rest-a-While" Cabin with our 2 kids and dog. The cabin was roomy, clean, well equipped and everything was in working order (no DVD's or dishwasher detergent though). The description and pictures are accurate. The kids loved the paddle boat and row boat, mini golf (included and across the street). The Lumberjack show was a big hit with my kids (9 & 12) We enjoyed eating on the deck and used the fire pit (unlimited wood thanks to those hardworking lumberjacks!)
The cabin was much closer to the Lumberjack village than we thought; it is connected to the path system and next to an Edina Realty office. Occasionally people walked to our end, but since that was the front of the cabin it wasn't a big deal. It was very quiet Saturday afternoon after the Lumberjack show and in the evenings. Everyone (rental folks, employees in restaurant and ice cream shop) was very friendly. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
If you want a secluded northwoods experience, this is not the place for you. If you want to be within walking distance to mini golf, go-karts, restaurants & bars then you will be very pleased with the location. Downtown Hayward is about a 10 minute walk away.
