About this property

Small But Mighty (Elegant) Rural Retreat

Pie Farm Cottage is perched on a small private pond at the end of our long driveway.
The cottage has two main rooms, a loft and a large bath and closet. The kitchen/dining area is brand new with all you need to prepare a full course meal or a quick snack.
The queen size bed is new and comfortable with top of the line sheets and soft fluffy towels. Take a bath in the old clawfoot tub (my personal favorite) or a quick shower.
Radiant in-floor heat in winter, air conditioning in summer. There's a loft with a desk and chair and queen size futon couch accessible by a ships ladder.
Our little cottage has been completely renovated and is ready for folks who crave a rural retreat with all it's attractions, yet close to restaurants, beaches, and local areas of interest.
I have 5 miles of groomed trails on 78 acres of heaven. You can hike, bike, snowmobile, ski, ice skate, snowshoe, swim or simply relax in the sunshine on the lawn.
We are only three miles from Waldoboro Village and Route 1 in a good central location for visiting the Midcoast of Maine. From here, take the Friendship Road, and you can be on the ocean, on a lake, on a river, in a fine restaurant or world-famous Moody's Diner, at a world class art museum, an ocean going schooner or in a lobster boat.

Peaceful and posh

We LOVED our stay at Pie Farm Cottage. 'Let us count the ways.' Upon entering I was struck with the sunlight streaming in the many open windows and fresh air flow. Between those readily opened windows, a large ceiling fan, and new heat pump we could easily regulate indoor temperatures. It is well designed to make most efficient use of the space with loving attention given to many details...including fresh eggs and their own maple syrup. We found the delicious well water to be refreshing. And there was Plenty of Hot water. The walking trails were well maintained and very special! Mary, the owner, was most accomodating and friendly, ever mindful of our privacy. Our stay was very peaceful, serene and restful. Just what we needed!😊

The cottage was so tranquil and afforded us a wonderful retreat from visiting all the towns on Maine’s coastline. Would stay there again.

Excellent Cottage in a Great Location

The cottage was extraordinary for a small space. Fully functional kitchen and a spacious bathroom with a claw foot tub. Mary was very responsive and gracious (thanks for the eggs and syrup!) The property has about five miles of hiking trails that are well curated. The view out of the back door is of a pond with a lot of wildlife around. Overall a great trip to the mid-coast of Maine with a really nice and reasonably priced place to stay.

Exquisite, peaceful, immaculate, magical perfection!

My husband and I were SO lucky to have found this amazing, beautiful cottage for a (seven night) Maine getaway vacation. The atmosphere, decor and design were so tasteful and artistically pleasing. I told my husband that I wished I could have the exact same cottage (down to the last detail), for myself on our property in Vermont! Everything was so clean and beautifully appointed/decorated! The bathroom with the vintage claw foot bathtub was large and spacious. I loved the views of the pond out the glass door and windows, complete with lily pads, reeds and yellow flowers. It was like looking at a work of art every day. We enjoyed visits from a few chickens by the pond, and fell asleep every night to the soothing, lulling sound of bullfrogs singing. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept so well! This was the most quiet, peaceful and relaxing vacation I think I’ve ever had. We spent our days exploring the many historic and beautiful towns up and down the coast, state parks, beaches and eating in wonderful restaurants in the area. We ate breakfasts in the cottage and adored the beautiful and well supplied kitchen! Mary is a wonderful host! There were fresh eggs from her chickens waiting for us in the fridge on our arrival, plus her very own homemade maple syrup! She literally thought of everything that one could ever want or need. I particularly loved all of the natural, wonderfully smelling soaps, bath soaks, etc. Mary made us feel so cared for! We’ll surely be back!!!

Nicest place you could stay!!!

This was our place for the last leg of our honeymoon and it was absolutely fantastic! There were farm fresh eggs for us in the fridge and a gift of homemade maple syrup on the table. It was immediately clean and very cozy. We will be coming back countless times.

Small but exquisite

We have nothing but good things to say about the Pie Farm cottage. It’s small but charming, well-stocked and immaculately maintained. It was perfect for us for a five-night stay in August 2022 while visiting friends in Union and Georgetown. We made breakfasts and lunches in the kitchen. There was a lovely breeze to keep us cool, and with windows open it was almost as if we were outdoors but comfortably sheltered. Frogs and owls serenaded is at night, and butterflies brightened the garden by day. Highly recommended.

Wonderful!

This place is magical! Very relaxing and restorative...between the frogs serenading you to sleep at night, the heron visiting at the pond, watching the chickens meander and scratch, seeing sunrise and sunset ...it's all just a reminder to breathe, slow down and enjoy. Inside the house is just as lovely...clean, everything you would need and super comfortable. It was too warm to enjoy the lovely tub, but I hope to be back in cooler weather to try it out. And perfectly situated to explore north or south to check out all Maine has to offer.

Mid coast marvel

This cottage and property could not be more beautiful, relaxing, comfortable and cozy. Mary has thought of everything you could ever need...Love the resident free range chickens who visit the cottage steps frequently. My husband hiked the trails and loved how well maintained they were. Pie farm cottage is very centrally located for so many wonderful attractions. We managed Pemaquid point and a couple "historic" forts in the area. When our car broke down and we had to have it towed our hosts daughter drove us the 12 miles to the car rental, on a holiday weekend, to get a rental. Can not thank both of you enough for " saving" us. The homemade maple syrup in the fridge was such a delicious sweet treat on our waffles in the morning. Also took a nice long soak in the vintage slipper tub...indulgent! Thank you again!

Adorable Farm Cottage Getaway

The cottage is a lovely modern home located in the middle of a farm. There's a cute little pond right behind and trees in the distance in every direction. The skies are wide open above, allowing for a beautiful view of the stars when clouds permit. As fans of astrophotography, we loved it. The cottage feels cozy yet spacious. The bed was very comfy and all furnishings were great. The entire cottage has heating under the floor which made things even cozier. The bathroom has a big clawfoot tub and shiny fixtures for a quick shower or a long bath. The water gets super hot. The kitchen is very well stocked with cookware, utensils, glasses and essentials. There's a small microwave and a toaster oven too. The fridge was squeaky clean and our hosts were kind enough to share some of their own maple syrup! Communication with Mary and Elle was prompt and check-in was seamless. We spent 4 nights and didn't want to leave. We would book again in a heartbeat!

About the host

Host profile image
Pie Farm is located on the Friendship Road a short ride from Waldoboro Center in the Mid-Coast area of Maine.
I live on the farm, and brought up our three children here. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Maine over 30 years ago because of my love of the outdoors and all of the beauty Maine has to offer. I am a Family Physician in Camden, and when I am not working I happily spend my free time on the farm.
Pie Farm Cottage used to be my doctor's office. And at one time there were peacocks on the property, my favorite bird. As a southerner from New Orleans, I had high hopes for them. But they are really not a northern bird. Now only the memory of them remains ...

Why they chose this property

As a physician, I believe in the benefits of relaxation and the deep contentment found in nature. I have wanted to share the Farm with like minded folks for a long time. Pie Farm Cottage is the way I choose to do that and hope you will agree that your stay with me was a truly healthful and relaxing interval.
