Place had not been cleaned. Mouse droppings on counter and in kitchen drawers. Beer bottle on floor along side the bed with beer spilled all around. Only stayed one of the two nights booked. Air freshener smells were way too strong. Wouldn’t recommend.
This was just a tiny cabin on a small resort property. There was a large backyard for games. Loved the pool house and lake was clean. I did not realize this cabin was not directly on the lake. It could use some updates, but overall if you are outside, then no issues. I would like a second air conditioner on hot days in the second bedroom!

Health hazard and disorganized

I understand that some accommodations are listed as ‘quaint’, ‘rustic’ and ‘cozy’. But there’s a fine line between rustic and dilapidated. This place crosses that line. I’m fine with cabins looking like old cabins. The problem with ours was that every drawer – including the cutlery drawer, clothing drawers, and shower basin – was littered with mouse droppings. We have photos. This is a health hazard.
Other issue I had was the host waited until the morning of check-in to actually send us details about which cabin we were in and the key info. Since our phone number changed (meaning texting wouldn’t work) while in USA, I checked emails up to 5 hours prior to arrival. No notice from host. Then when we arrived on site there was no signage indicating where the office or manager was located. Had to go through VRBO call centre. Could have been avoided if host had simply sent info at least 24 hours prior to arrival. Worst VRBO experience ever (and we own a recreation property ourselves listed on VRBO).
Although we had an initial booking issue, it was resolved quickly. When we got there the back door was wide open so some leaves had blown in, it was kinda difficult to shut. We actually ended up staying in cabin 2 because of our double booking situation. It was fun going down to the dock and gushing for perch (although a steep walk haha). All the fresh air that came in through the windows from the lake was amazing. The cabins are pretty close to each other so not a whole lot of privacy.

Very cute, nice layout 2 bedroom cabin, Loved how the cabin was equipped with a full kitchen, and provided a microwave, crockpot, plenty of dishes, towels and charcoal to use for the grill. A few different kinds of outdoor games in the yard of the cabin for fun entertainment, along with a picnic table, camping chairs and hammock too. There is a lovely beach with life jackets and kayaks available for use, and plenty of dock space to doc boats. Cabins are nicely spaced and set up to allow room for privacy. Thoughtful on having the fire pit ready to burn! Out in the woods yet just a couple miles to restaurants and stores. Very peaceful and relaxing! Minnesota NICE! We had a wonderful time, can’t wait to do it again
My wife and I really enjoyed our midweek stay at this quiet resort. Great location tucked in the woods along the lake. We are My Boat Club members and could walk to the Pickled Loon to pick up boats on the daily. The cabin’s docks were large enough to accommodate parking our boats for the day. The beach area housed many kayaks, a paddle board and canoe to use if you wish.
Owners were quick to respond with any needs. Brie was on-site to assist with any requests. She was pleasant to deal with and willing to lend a hand when required. Thanks Brie!
