Spent a long weekend getaway at Almost Hiking and it was perfect! The house was very clean and had everything we needed. We were impressed from the moment we walked in the door. Location is just outside of town if we needed to run to the store but was just enough outside of town to be remote. Will definitely look to stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was very clean, and comfortable for our family with a seven-year-old and nine-year-old, and Golden Retriever. Hikes in Hocking Hills were about 20 minutes away, and for us it was more important to be close to Logan- we were just minutes away from restaurants, grocery stores, and playgrounds. This felt like the perfect balance for our family of being 'in the woods' and also just outside town.
I was prepped for the sulfur smell with the well water in the area and came well-prepared with several gallons of water, but I was still surprised by how strong the smell was, and we took fewer showers because of it.
Added pluses for us were the spacious front porch, hot tub, gas fireplace, and fire pit, and grill/fire pit (we opted to roast marshmallows over the grill due to a burn warning at the nearby campground). With our dog, we also appreciated the hardwood floors through most of the house--just not as many overwhelming smells to take in.
This cute cabin had everything we needed for our stay. Everything was super clean. We enjoyed eating outside on the front deck as well as sitting out in the rockers with our coffee in the morning. Convenient location, about 20 minute from Hocking Hills.
Unfortunately it was too rainey to use the hottub. We could not figure out how to light the fireplace and were unable to find a number for the property manager. Could have used more bath towels and there were no hand towels or washcloths. Otherwise the cabin was hery nice and easy to get to. It was very clean upon arrival. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Very nice front porch and got to see deer going the driveway early in the morning. We would definitely stay there again.
WE had a very clean house Welcoming us when we arrived. Just hid enough in the trees off the road to make it a great place to stay.. Spacious, everything we needed, and more. A pleasure to stay there. A great surprise when I found a washer and dryer (which isn't listed in the Amenities). we truly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.
The property was great. Beautiful cabin that had plenty of space for all, even our dog Kenzie. The hot tub was relaxing after a day of hiking or golf. Only gripe, all the waterfalls in Hocking Hills park were dried up. (Nasty drought). My suggestion, travel here in May or June ….. Carl our host was fantastic, we left an important item behind, and he mailed it asap. Could not of had better communication. Thx Carl.
The cabin was just as pictured great neighborhood lots of things to do in town very.
The host had everything available at the cabin for us. The only con is the snow of the well water is unpleasant. However, we understand it was well water. Will be staying again.
Almost Hiking is a darling log cabin get-away! We enjoyed the hot tub, made full use of the kitchen, and delighted in our morning coffee on the front porch every day. The cabin was pristine, the beds were tall and comfy, the WiFi was fast, and the hot tub was a perfect 101!
Thank you so much. We’ll be back!
We had the absolute best experience. So close to everything we wanted but far enough away for a quiet evening by the fire. The cabin was clean and very cozy. Can’t wait to stay again
This “cabin” (which is really just a regular house masquerading as a cabin) is located in a very run down, residential area of Hocking Hills. The house is not secluded and does not give you the feeling other cabins in the area do. Two doors down is a trailer with a bunch of trash littered throughout the yard. The area feels very unsafe. Upon arriving, not only was I disappointed by the location of the house and the listing itself, every amenity I was looking most forward to using was non-functioning. The hot tub was cold and the gas fireplace would not turn on.
The cabin was perfect. We arrived early and the awesome owner let us check in earlier. My family went on many hikes and enjoyed the hot tub after. We utilized the fire pit and had long talks on front porch with my granddaughter who wants to live there forever.
We really liked the cabin. Being closer to town was a plus.
The electronic door lock needs looked at. We had a hard time getting in the cabin three times during our stay. Some off the tree branches are hanging low along the driveway and could use a trimming. Besides that, it was great. We would stay again. Thank You, Kevin
