About this property
Secluded Mountain Cabin in Sky Forest!
'Summer Specials' please email for details! Our family cabin is affectionately known as 'Hemel Bos'. A crude Dutch translation for House in the Sky. 'Hemel Bos' is a three bedroom (1 queen in each of the two bedrooms and three twins in the third bedroom), 1.5 bath, fully remodeled kitchen and bathroom, with a vaulted ceiling living room including on oversized rock fireplace.
The cabin is located in the secluded/lush woods of Skyforest. Skyforest is roughly one mile from Lake Arrowhead Village. Skyforest is known for it's large lots and green forest. 'Hemel Bos' sits on an 1.5 acre lot with neighbors basically out of sight and sound. The cabin also has a large 900 square foot deck, which includes spectacular Mountain Views, unobstructed by neighbors. Our family and friends have many memories here and I guarantee your family will too.

This cabin is absolutely beautiful, rustic and elegant at the same time. The owners provide everything you would ever need, we did not want for anything and the views are just spectacular.
We had a family vacation at this cabin and it was wonderful! The cabin is a perfect blend of rustic cabin with all the modern comforts of home. The couch is so comfortable! My favorite part is the large deck surrounded by beautiful trees❤️
Beautiful home and property. Cozy family room where we had great fires each evening. Close to food, shopping and hiking. Kitchen and bbq with everything we needed to have dinner. The only surprise was the 3 beds being listed as doubles, and seemed to be twins. After a little research I saw it listed as doubles on one page and twins on another. A little small for the bigger guests. Owner was responsive when we had questions about the wifi password. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property.
The pictures don’t do this property justice. This cabin has a rustic, feel as you would want in the mountains, but has plenty of upgrades for just about anyone’s comfort. We loved our stay and will be back again.
I love this cabin. It is so homey and comfortable. This is my 2nd time staying there. First with friends and this time with my family, my mom, son, nieces and even Bob our bulldog. It's a great place, just beautiful area, cabin has everything you need for a great stay. The owner was excellent as well! Definitely vrbo-ing this cabin again.
Great long weekend in a comfy cabin with plenty of privacy. Perfect for our family of five (kids aged 2,10, &13). Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and for us all to be together in the main room. We would love to come back during a different season to experience the changes on the mountain.
We had a great stay at this cabin with our 2 young kids. There was a bunch of snow on the ground from a storm the previous week, so the kids loved playing in it right outside the front door. The cabin was very rustic but had an updated kitchen and bathrooms and everything was very clean. The couches and beds were very comfortable. TVs in most rooms with DirecTV and fast WiFi was nice. The last few hundred feet of road up to the cabin was a bit rough during this time in winter, so I'd recommend an SUV/truck to get up there. Overall, we had a great time and would love to come back!
The cabin had enough room for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked. Overall, a nice place to stay. A couple of things I would recommend fixing : (1) mention in the checkin instructions that in order for the door to unlock, one has to pull on the door while entering the code, (2) the floater got stuck under the flapper in the upstairs toilet and caused the water to continue to run. I had to take off the lid and fix it. I would recommend updating that.
My wife, our dog, and I stayed at John's cabin over Christmas and we enjoyed our stay very much! It was so quiet and secluded, yet close to the village and other food options/shops, we couldn't have chosen a better place for our holiday. This is a great cabin for those seeking tranquility and to be close to nature - we were lucky enough to see TWO deer around the property during our stay! There is a picnic area not far from the property that served as a great mini hike for our dog, but we enjoyed walking along the road just as much. The kitchen was well stocked and it was great to have access to the grill on the deck. John was also a great host! Just a quick text away for any questions we had.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
Lovely place but.......
The cabin was perfect and described well, what wasn’t clear was that the house is on a un-maintained road. It was snowing and we where not aware of the poor status of the road and we got snowed in and it cost me $200 to get our cars out and down the mile road. We also were unable to go to the store the whole 3 days. Very stressful vacation.
If you love a mountain cabin, this is your spot! Lovely updated mountain getaway. I loved the kitchen and living space and large deck. All the creature comforts of home in a quintessential mountain cabin. My dogs loved the outdoors and chasing all the squirrels. The owner is great and easy to work with. Thank you John, for a lovely stay.
We loved the fact that it was so, so, so quiet. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck and having a cocktail at night watching the sun disappear through the trees.
We came for the weekend to attend a wedding and were very happy with the location (less than a mile from Santa's Village) and the accommodations. We would stay there again.
Charming authentic cabin in a beautiful private setting. Loved sitting out on the deck among the trees watching the sunset. Walking distance to sky forest, - best pizzeria & Mexican restaurant in the area. Comfortable, well equipped cozy cabin. Perfect getaway, short drive from LA.
This is the 2nd time we stayed at this particular cabin. The cabin is perfect... The location is amazing... The owner (John) is extremely kind and responsive. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all for a few days. If I could give it more stars, I would!! Oh, my dog loves it there too! There is a huge deck that we now call Princess Isabella's Deck. She played on that deck for hours.
My fiance and I got engaged at this cabin. It was the most romantic setting for such an event.
John, Thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful cabin!

Everything that could go wrong, did…
Microwave and WiFi broken entire time (tho was forewarned). No window coverings (I had to tape a sheet over bedroom window for husband’s sanity) NO HEAT (or hot water) for first half of trip and NO WATER at all for second half… then broke my right foot in multiple places falling down the stairs the final morning… we got out asap then. Tried to leave during the no heat time (due to freezing temps/thank god for the working fireplace) but VRBO never followed up to help us get into anywhere else same day, but the no water n broken foot sent us packing off the mountain… That was Sunday… it’s now Friday… still no response from VRBO since last Friday… no offer of owner’s insurance info to help with injuries… no offer of any refund at all even to make up for toughing out all the subpar conditions. I understand it was a war zone up there after a major snow storm & the owner’s communication was great during the time we were there… but that doesn’t change the reality of our experience: never had full basic utilities there and I’ve been bedridden since, unable to put any pressure on right foot, still trying to even get an appointment with an orthopedist/ podiatrist after the emergency room X-rays reading has finally confirmed the breaks…. Just sucks I guess having paid full price, no offer of refund/price break since leaving, nor even offered owner’s liability insurance info as I sit here wondering how to get treatment, whether I need surgery, and what it will all still cost…
It was a small but overall lovely cabin that accommodated my family and our cat. The room with 3 beds didn't have a vent sobit was quite chilly but the blankets were warm and toasty. It was a nice little spot and the kids enjoyed the area. I would recommend and go again.
Property was good location a little hard to get to but overall great place! Everything was clean, plenty of great kitchen stuff and all the appliances you need! Only negative was windows were just put in and seemed like they weren’t completely done or installed and there were no curtains on any windows! We will definitely stay again there was a ton of family board games to play there and plenty of space for larger families!
If you want to get away to a secluded spot, this is the place to go. We were only there for 5 days, but it was the best vacation of my life because of the quiet, relaxing atmosphere. John was so kind and easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay there again!! Oh, the best part is my dog absolutely loved it! She made the deck her own :-)
