We had a wonderful time. We stayed in a beautiful home with plenty of room. Everything worked fine . The display of directions on using things was extremely well put together. Read this top number one.
We loved our stay! It was extremely nice, clean, great layout, on a quiet road. The stream was the best part. Thank you for sharing your home with us! We will be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Jeanine’s Elk Creek mountain home. The home was exactly as described and every comfort was thought of. The kitchen was amazing, and we easily prepared our meals. There was plenty of room furnished with comfortable beds and furniture for our three families to spread out. The creek was a big hit with the kids. Our day trips concluded early so we could get back to this cozy, quiet home. It is safe to say that we all would have enjoyed never leaving the property.
The property was beautiful-the inside was beautifully decorated but comfortable. My kids loved fishing in the creek and just being outside on the property. The porch and outdoor seating area is where we spent a lot of our time. Everything about this property was great-exceeded our expectations and better than than the pictures! The host was very, very responsive!
This was a great place to stay. Very nice and comfortable for our family of 4. My wife and I commented how it was by far the best equipped kitchen we've ever seen for a VRBO rental. They had everything you needed, and it was clearly labeled of what went where.
I also enjoyed the taxidermy, pool table, and the big screen TV.
Great to be in a big enough yard to play some football with my son, while enjoying the sounds of the creek below.
Private spot with not much traffic coming and going down the dead end road. Very close to Deadwood and Lead. A bit of a trek to the Southern hills and the attractions there, but we obviously knew that booking this place.
Your home fit the needs of our family. Coming in from Nebraska you allowed us to park our trailers early and that was a great help. The beauty of your outdoors drew us in! Wow the creek to the layout of your property… it all works perfectly. Once inside our family could enjoy so many areas of your home. The gigantic tv, hot tub, washer & dryer, kitchen and dining room table were definitely used.
Wonderful family time was had here on your clean and well taken care of property. Thanks for sharing your home with us! We loved it!

Off the grid
The home is beautiful and the location is very nice. Unfortunately, on our arrival date, we found out that the internet connection was down and would most likely be down for our entire stay - and it was. This meant no WiFi, no TV and no cell phone service. We had no abiility to communicate with the owner unless we drove back toward Leed until we had cell service, no ability to do day trip planning from the house via the internet and a lessor concern - no TV option for the grandkids. We took several road trips back toward Leed just to get connected. The owner provided an apology and a minimal refund.
Elk Creek Hideaway
has been a perfect place for us to stay while we explored this part of South Dakota. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. .the area is peaceful, quiet and beautiful.
We especially love the babbling brook sound of Elk Creek. Altogether, this has been a perfect hideaway For us!
Jeanine has a beautiful cabin in a great location. Our group had four people and we brought our side by sides to ride on the trails around Deadwood and Lead. We spent two days riding and one day at Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Wonderland Cave. It worked great to leave for the day and come back to make supper and hang out at the cabin at night. Two nights we went into Deadwood, it was a lively town with many bars and fun entertainment options. Jeanine was great to work with and provided the essentials needed in the cabin.
We rode from Ohio to enjoy the amazing roads that South Dakota had to offer. We believed this house was a perfect area for us to stay it is a gravel road to get back to the property and that is not for everyone who rides a bike. We didn’t mind though. 😁 When we arrived unloaded and then went to grocery store to come back and realized the propane tank was out on the grill and had no real way of transporting a propane tank (on motorcycles) Jeanine made sure we had on the next day! This house really has anything that you could need . We plan to come back to Sturgis Rally 2024 . We really hope this property is available ! Thank you!
The property is wonderful and our children loved the creek! The house is very clean. We saw deer every night as we returned home from our activities.
We thought it was pretty centrally located for all we wanted to do and hope to be back with family in the future!
Had a work meeting in Deadwood so booked this amazing cabin for a quick weekend getaway. We loved the stunning kitchen and all we had access too to cook our own meals. Everything was so nice and clean!! Loved the pool table and large yet cozy living room. Sat outside on a brisk morning to have our coffee and listen to the birds and creek. It was so relaxing!! The shower in the master bedroom was so cool. Thanks for opening your vacation home up to us. We took your recommendation and hikes the Mickelson Trail near the cabin. Thank goodness for the washer and dryer as it was a little muddy and we didn’t pack enough clothes.

My husband and I purchased Elk Creek Hideaway in October of 2021. Prior, we owned another vacation home rental in the Black Hills and enjoyed the experience. When we found this beautiful property, we just knew we had to have it and wanted to share it with others visiting the Deadwood SD area. Our family lives 2.5 hours away and frequent the cabin more in the winter months. Along with our two sons, we love all the adventure the Black Hills area has to offer. Our favorite outdoor activities include snowmobiling, hiking the trails with our two golden retrievers, skiing at Terry Peak, mountain bike riding on the Mickelson Trail system and exploring the Black Hills trail system on our UTV. Our two sons love fishing the streams for trout, especially Elk Creek right in front of our cabin. Our favorite dining experience is Legends in Deadwood and we enjoy checking out the local brew pubs.
Why they chose this property
A few years ago, while out exploring the Black Hills National Forest on our UTV, we passed by this property and loved it. When we saw it was for sale, we had to check it out. We always wanted a property with a stream, yet in a quiet and private area. The beautiful cabin, surrounded by pine trees and nestled next to the creek is stunning. Step inside to a traditional yet luxurious cabin feel, large enough for everyone to have their own space yet cozy to enjoy each other's company. Elk Creek Hideaway features a large gourmet kitchen with gas stove, a master suite fit for a king, game room in the loft area with high end pool table and 65 inch television and attached garage that is available to guests. Guests receive full access to all appliances, including the washer and dryer. No need to bring towels or bed linens, all are provided to the guests. Sit and unwind in the living room next to a custom fireplace while watching your favorite show on the 85 inch tv. (Guests are not allowed to operate real fireplace for insurance reasons.) Two bedrooms are located on the second level, each having King size beds. There is an additional twin size bed in one bedroom upstairs. In the loft area, there is a pull out couch that transitions to a queen size bed. The cabin comfortably sleeps 9.
What makes this property unique
This property is rural, yet easy to access, just 2.75 miles of gravel road off of highway 385. There is no cell service in the area, but vehicle navigation will lead you right up to the property. Once there, guests have access to our Starlink which provides unlimited internet and WIFI calling. Enjoy your morning coffee out on the patio overlooking Elk Creek. Bring your fishing pole to try your luck catching a brook trout. Keep your eyes open to take in all the wild life in the area from turkeys, deer, elk and mountain lion. Make sure to schedule ample time to soak in the new 7 person hot tub. (Hot tub to be installed Spring 2022.) Guests will find themselves smack in the middle of all the adventure that the Black Hills have to offer such as driving down Spearfish Canyon, trying their luck in Historic Deadwood, taking in the wild fun in Sturgis or the sights of our National Monument near Hill City, Mount Rushmore. PLEAE NOTE: PARKING FOR TRAILERS AND PICKUP IS LIMITED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THERE IS ADDITIONAL PARKING FOR 1 PICKUP/TRAILER COMBO ACROSS THE ROAD, WHICH IS ALSO PART OF OUR LOT.
