We loved our stay here away from the summer hustle of Seward. Ian was very communicative and provided excellent recommendations. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to cook and we appreciated being able to use the washer/dryer and wood stove, which included plenty of wood ready to use. Highly recommend Ian’s home for anyone visiting Seward. We would definitely return!
We had a great time staying at Ian’s place! The home was so cozy and well stocked. It was a great “home base” for adventuring and for having a chill evening.
We loved staying at Bear Creek. Great location, comfortable, well equipped and clean cabin, great host that was easy to communicate with. We would definitelystay here again
We enjoyed our stay and were so comfortable in our lovely home away from home! Clean and well supplied with all the necessities, it was such a comfy place to enjoy our visit to Seward. This trip was a repeat for me but a first for my dear friends, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!
First off, as soon as we booked, our host Ian sent us a fantastic curated list of all his recommended sights and activities near the property. It's clear he's very familiar with the area and has great recommendations for adults and families with kids of all ages. On the day of our checkout, Ian also informed us one of the neighbors reported an injured brown bear in the area and to be cautious when leaving. He really is attentive and looks out for you.
The property is only 10 mins from downtown Seward making it very convenient to pop into town for whatever you need, yet feels very remote. And just beyond a low row of trees in the back yard is Bear Creek, which my family loved exploring with beautiful views of the mountains in both directions. It's also only a 20 min drive to Exit Glacier.
This house was perfect for our stay in Seward and we couldn't have been happier!
Stopped off in Seward for a couple of days while road tripping on the peninsula. This home is in a great location. Good views from the house. Clean. Great property and only a short drive to town.
We had a great time - location is convenient and peaceful, about a 10 min drive from Seward center and there is a grocery store nearby. House was great and kitchen well-stocked - only request is one more dining chair, there were only four and there were five of us.
Place was clean and comfortable for our stay in Seward. There was air fresheners used that everyone in our group really struggled with so keep in mind if you have sensitive folks in your group.
My family of 6 was very comfortable in this house. They have clearly put a lot of work into making it modern and cozy. It’s convenient to Seward and Cooper Landing day trips. Would definitely recommend.
Would definitely stay here again, accommodations were great and attention to detail was excellent. A highlight was seeing a moose and her 2 little ones in the yard two evenings while we were there.
The location was nice and quiet. We hoped to spot a bear who was recently seen but no luck. We enjoyed the wood stove and fire pit. My only suggestion would be to have lighting at the dining room table. It was a lovely surprise to be greeted with fruit and wine!

This was one of the most beautiful properties I have stayed at. It's well integrated into nature and encapsulates the spirit of wild Alaska. The cabin was plenty spacies with two bedrooms, a very well stocked kitchen (utensils and appliances) even for 6 people, a commodious living area and a lovely porch. The house has a huge backyard and easy access to a creek with sweeping views of all the mountains around the cabin. Ian was very thoughtful to leave a lot of extra sheets, towels, cleaning supplies, coffee pods, bear spray, fruits and even a bottle of wine! Ian was also generous to share his personal stock of firewood that allowed us to have a lovely campfire in the yard. We didn't have any issues with a wifi as well. Scott was super communicative and responded promptly and left a of suggestions for a variety of local activities and attractions prior to the trip. Overall we had a fantastic experience staying at the Alska View Lodge and I can't recommend it enough.
We enjoyed our stay at Ian’s home! Very clean, very comfortable, close to town, very well-stocked! Loved the fire pit and outdoor area and the sound of the creek! Thank you for the wine and the welcome basket!
House was perfect for our family. It had everything we needed. We really appreciated the welcoming bottle of wine, fruit bowl and vase of wildflowers. Close to Seward, Exit Glacier, and Chugach National Forest. We enjoyed the creek behind the house and even had a black bear walk through the backyard!
After several nights in 1 room cabins elsewhere in AK, it was really nice to spread out a bit and be able to do laundry. To be greeted by a big bowl of fruit, flowers and a bottle of wine, along with a note, was such a nice touch. The home is very well stocked and cared for, and it’s location just outside of Seward worked great for us. We did the Harding Ice Field hike followed by dinner at Resurrection Roadhouse the first day, then a Major Marine boat tour followed by dinner at Gold Rush Bistro the next day. The Safeway is conveniently located b/n the home and Seward, with an attached liquor store and an adjacent gas station. We had a great stay!

The owner was so nice to give us tips on best hikes, favorite restaurants, what to see in the area. He left us a bottle of wine with a personal note!
The house was very clean and comfortable and quiet. Great access to all the Seward area has to offer.

I first fell in love with the beauty of Alaska nine years ago and have been hooked ever since. During my time in Alaska I have worked many different jobs (Merchant Marine, Welding, Oil Industry, Carpentry) that have afforded me the opportunity to visit many different places in Alaska. After experiencing all this beauty I still feel Seward is the most beautiful of all! I am originally from Rhode Island and graduated from the International Yacht Restoration School in Newport, Rhode Island. I am a sailor by trade. My hobbies are fishing, exploring Alaska's coastal waters, hiking, woodworking and using my sawmill! I look forward to showing my guests the beauty of Alaska!
Why they chose this property
The views! From this house you get a clear unobstructed view of Mt Alice and the entire Chugach range! Godwin glaciers is also clearly visible, its crystal blue color calms your soul and clears your mind! Also, we have abundant wildlife with moose, bear, otters and rabbits visiting often. The house is also conveniently located about 5 miles to the center of Seward and 3 miles to the small boat harbor. Exit glacier is 7 miles away and most other activities are very close. Stoney Creek zipline is less than a mile from our cabin! We are also really excited about a new business located within one mile that is extremely interesting...Stoney Creek Brewery! .
What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is all the amenities inside as well as outside! The property is well suited for a family and secluded yet close to town.....you definitely don't have that "hotel" feeling, it gives you a sense of home. Additionally, as a established "local" I can provide you many insights the "average" traveler will never know about! Outside there is a large fire pit area and ample firewood....great for sharing the days stories and some smores! Located on the back of the property is a glacier fed stream that provides excellent views all the way to Resurrection Bay!
