Stocked with more than expected, very clean, lots of games if weather is no good. Dock is a bit high so have to walk in water from yard, bit mucky so lowered dock would be lovely. The driveway is a bit smaller than described but we had one less car and trailer than originally planned so wasn’t an issue for us just an FYI tight fit for 2 cars and jet ski trailers
We had a wonderful stay. Every was there like described. Lots of parking for smaller place. Stores were close. We rented pontoon from Brians boat rental. Water was shallow at end of dock but we still had anchor to dock boat. Caught bass off the dock. Neibors were great. We all had a fun filled weekend with the family and our dogs. We were lucky and got to check in early as well. Kitchen was stocked well with supplys for everyday, pans, silverware, bowls small appliances. For smaller cabin was very spacious. Thanks for having us.
family. and our dogs.
Our current stay was amazing!! Great location, and the house had anything!! Nice pots and pans, lots of towels - which was amazing!! Couldn’t have asked for a better place and would definitely stay here again!! Thank you!!
We had a wonderful stay. This property was very accommodating. We had six adults and an infant and did not feel tight at all. Beautiful views! Large outdoor space. Clean. Local to shops.
Highly recommended!! Very nice cabin right on the water. Awesome view of the lake every night and morning. My kids had a blast!! We will definitely go back.
Such a wonderful location. Clean, very nice kitchen and an amazing charcoal grill! Plenty of room for 6-8 adults, if a pair are willing to sleep out on the enclosed patio on a trundle twin. Ceiling fans in every bedroom is a huge plus.
Good variety of pots/pans, plenty of cups and plates and such. Yard is very flat, with sandy lake bottom nice for swimming and wading. Great fire pit, plenty of chairs and patio table with umbrella for sunny days.
Lots of parking, and plenty of nearby restaurants and shops.
Had a great time with family at this house for the weekend. We went rented a boat for a day, played mini golf and went canoeing. House was equipped with everything we needed. Even pet friendly so we were able to bring our dog with us. She loved playing fetch in the shallow water right in the backyard!
Used this as an ice fishing get away for my husband. House was perfect. Right on water ease to get back amenities. Plan on going back this summer to fish again and hopefully ice fishing again next year!
The space is very open and inviting (inside and out). The space is well appointed with just about everything you could want or need. All three beds were very comfortable, as was the great couch. Great location on a private drive with lake front access. Plus, there’s a great tree swing my son loved. There’s even a few fishing holes for ice fishing quite close to shore!
We would definitely stay here again. And the price is on point. Especially considering the location and the roominess of the place. Great find!

About the host
Hosted by Michael Reiter
We are a fire family who were lucky enough to find this beautiful piece of property. When we aren't enjoying everything Houghton Lake has to offer we love to share our cottage with others.
Why they chose this property
Houghton Lake offers a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy all year round. Of course in the warmer months there is the obvious water activities, boating, jet skiing, and fishing. Early in the month of August the historic Limberlost restaurant hosts its annual Bud Bash water festival. There are also several beautiful golf courses to enjoy, as well as a local disc golf course. Staying in our cottage allows all of this right in your backyard. Our private dock allows you the ability to walk right onto your boat and enjoy a day of fun in the sun. When the leaves begin to fall, the hunters come out. The area offers plenty of public land that is open to hunters. You'll also find this is the time the four wheeler's tend to come out to play as well. As the snow begins to pile up and the temperature drops you'll see the shanties start to pop up. The colder months bring the ice fisherman out and with our property you can walk right out to your shanty straight from our back door. In late January Houghton Lake put on its yearly ice fishing festival Tip Up Town USA and its held only a block away from our cottage. These cold months is when you'll see the snowmobiles speeding across the lake. When the lakes completely frozen you can ride your sled across all 5 miles of the lakes width or 10 miles in length. With our property your able to walk out of the warmth of the cottage and onto the ice in just a stones throw. No matter what time of year Houghton Lake offers plenty of activities to enjoy Michigan's great outdoors. With the central location and private waterfront access of our cottage you'll never miss out on any of the action.
